I can't believe it. Now a race like that is sure going to look awkward, and now I understand how 16 cars on track would be possible, lol. They also have 20 tracks. Just think of this whole deal for a minute, and any objective mind will realize there is no way in hell that is excusable after about 5 years in development. I'm sure they also imported the vacuum recording from GT4 right?
Really, this just gives Turn 10 that much more credit, bravo to those guys. And don't get me wrong, I love the things PD has brought, but I'd rather take the 2 (and a half?) incredible games that we got from T10 in the same amount of time. I like the time PD has put into the dust/smoke, the lighting, and day/night transition.......but the cost is way too high, and ultimately it's not a total game changer. I also like the premium cars, but FM3 has arguably the same level of quality cars in terms of modeling (sadly not to full spec during the actual gameplay).
I mean, where has time gone exactly? Is there an out of the ordinary feature here? Am I missing something?

I actually think there are premium tracks and standard tracks too, I've always thought that GT5 nurb had been imported from GT4 and just upscalled. It would certainly explain the extreme inconsistency in the environments. I really wouldn't be surprised if the premium cars had premium physics too.
Almost 6 years to create this is pretty embarrassing, welcome to GT4.5

And just to clear something. I've read some crazy stuff in other forums saying that standard cars look as good as anything else out there, and on par/better than Forza 3 cars. I just have to laugh at those comments. *ANY* car from PGR3, the codemaster games, and pretty much any other racing game this gen looks better than a standard car in GT.
What sort of "saves the day" for these cars in GT is how much of a drastic difference the GT lighting makes. Still, an ugly nose is an ugly nose, even if the makeup is perfect.

I too have heard some of the craziest fanboy comments on those Gaf forums, how they can look at that pic above and see those drawn on headlights then say it looks nice is totally beyond me!??
EDIT:
I've just watched the standard car video and to my amazement, they have imported the engine noises from GT4 too... wow...
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?

There is uncertainty about standard cars. Suzuki swift sport in GT5P has cockpit and look this good. Is this going to be premium among the 200+ cars ? Because it is not high end car and looked great
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGfkaOZppuA
May be that will not be premium and all standard cars will be this good ? But nobody knows that.
Premium cars are totally another level though lol

The only certain thing is that standard cars are using basically PS2 level wireframes, and levels of details......in high def.

You know, I read comments saying that now, all of a sudden, "I don't even play with so many cars", and "I will only play with the premiums anyways". I just thought that was a bit strange.

I also read on the GT site:
"* Damage is not necessarily applied to all races in the game."
Whatever that means. Not only is stuff all inconsistent throughout, does this mean we'll be playing a race with damage, and then for some arbitrary reason, no damage on the next race? I don't know, I just want premium trees.

Also how many and what cars will be premium and standard cars is still unknown.
Here is HD version of standard cars so people right know are just guessing:

They may not have standard cars with premium in a same race IF the difference is huge. Because premium cars will look too good. WRC, nascar, super GT and other supercar and sport car should be premium models

I know they as of now they said 200+premium and 800+ standard. I want to know are all cars in GT5P considered as premium or standard. Cars like Swift, VW golf and so on if it is going to be in GT5 they can use those improved model of those ... I think premium would only be nascar, wrc, super gt, mercedes amg, bmw m power, ferraris, lambo, and so on ....

Oooh, Profound, isn't it?
Also the direct port from GT4 PS2 is misleading. Because it is like playing 2 games with the amount of difference in premium and standard so big ? I think they will bridge that gap.
Good video bad driving

I just thought the premium cars had more detailed graphics and more damage. If there are that many cars w/out cockpit view this game just fell pretty far down on my hype meter. almost six fucking years and this?
between the constant delays and now the vast majority of cars not having cockpit view i'm starting to get very frustrated.

Look it's easy. Are the headlights a texture? Do the cars look polygonal as hell? Do they not have any hint of an interior whatsoever? Does it look out of place in 2005 - 2010?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, it's an standard car dude. I don't know why you have to complicate stuff.
What bothers me the most about this whole premium vs standard fiasco is what other developers might do. I really don't want this to become a trend, but I can sense this being contagious.

And I knew weather was still up in the air. I'll maybe consider buying the game if they have weather, but other than that i'll be waiting for a price drop as well.

As for the video, as much I hate the standard car crap, I got to give credit where it's due. Honestly, that replay with the NSX is just wow. Seriously, when the environment is not in view, it simply looks incredible. I also gotta give credit to the fact they are running 16 premium cars on track at once (is it all tracks though? lol, you never it's GT). You can clearly tell those Japanese series cars are all premium for example. AND let's just reiterate the jaw-dropping replays, just classy.

EDIT: I'm also now reading 50 standard tracks, wtf? Where did that come from? I wonder if that's just more denial or if there's something to believe such a thing? I've seen it listed by a couple different persons already.
