Damn! I hadn't even considered the possibility! So you can't alter firefight maps, but I wouldn't have even thought to ask for that since we can't alter any maps other than the forge world map. The real question I have is: can we play firefight in forge maps?! God that would be epic. I'm guessing no, since they apparently already covered this topic, but hot damn that would be great! It's a total bummer if that functionality isn't in Reach, and I the possibility hadn't even previously crossed my mind :(
As far as I understood it, they can't have forge enabled together with the AI so I'm guessing it's out. As far as Firefight in concerned though, there are a crazy amount of game type options that can be customized and one can hope a lot more locations to soften the blow.

I just hope the campaign isn't a series of Firefight scenarios. I don't think it will be, based on what we know and ODST just about got away with it but it potentially might be over-used. Hopefully not.

EDIT: WAIT THERE WAS AN IVORY TOWER REMAKE?! How many MP maps got revealed that I might of missed?

GT think its CG, Bungie just confirmed all in-game, this game will be HUGE indeed, the features cant be touched and keep on growing, and the SP looks like it will be the best yet, man i cant wait!!

One or two shots are really evocative of the painterly, moody quality of ODST. Not as intimate, obviously, but lingering wide shots with nice composition is definitely a strength of ODST's presentation that has been brought over nicely here.

I hope the structure of ODST informs this game so we get a similarly weighed set of locations to do battle in. H3 committed so extensively to its Half Life 2-esque "journey" that consistency and coherency were sometimes favoured before interesting geometry to fight in. ODST sidestepped that by being very deliberate with its scenarios, and ended up easily the best playing Halo since CE because of it.

Even though this goes back to progression similar to Halo 3, I hope it knows to fly you off to a different location when variety is called for.

I enjoyed ODST but in no way was it better than any of the other Halo's, But Reach look like it will come and beat them all!.

Don't get me wrong, it's not as exciting on the surface, the story doesn't feel as urgent or as important (even though in the context it very much is), but the actual gameplay, that dynamic Halo combat, has never been shown off in a better light. It effortlessly moves between all different elements of gameplay that have ever appeared over the course of the franchise, and each element is given its own carefully carved scenario to bloom in.

Granted, the fact that you were spotted with the visor on, and unnoticed with it off should've prolly been communicated better to the player, because I know a lot of people who thought they had to blast their way through the hub bits, but if you knew about the ruleset in New Mombasa, that gave a whole new angle on Halo's gameplay that I frankly have a hard time coming back from.

But sure, measure their quality by "big moments", narrative devices or space saga epicness, and ODST prolly comes in last. I'm strictly talking gameplay.

I think it looks crisper, but I like the post processing on the old one much more. The light on the new one doesn't as good, and the "glows" are missing. I also like the lightin in the old one more. The atmospherics are way toned down too, which is too bad. The differences are subtle, but they are there :P...

I have to part agree with Iceman and Frozpot :)

I prefer the bottom image and it def looks close to the teaser trailer, but i do miss that warm hew glow on the first pic, either way it looks fantastic and cant wait to see it in motion.

My feelings as well. I was pleased with that initial Reach trailer that showed off the new engine for the first time. It looked good for a Halo game, but at the same time, it looked technically low-key enough that I thought we'd at least be getting that quality in the cinematics. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case.

Ah well, I'm sure I won't give a shit after I've sunk countless hours into the campaign by myself and co-op, firefight, online multiplayer, forge, and the theater mode(Goddamn I wish every game had a theater mode!).

There are things to like about the original, what with the nice glow in the sky. It gives off a great mood and sense of mystery about the character, but I'll definitely take the more prominent texture and model detail showcased in the new shot. Not saying that it's superior or non-superior to the previous, but I still like the way it looks artistically.

It isn't like that level of detail wasn't there in the first one, but I don't mind the way it looks currently. Either way, this is well beyond what I was expecting a Halo title to look like. It's about damn time, too, because I still can't forgive some of the scenes that were turned into jokes in Halo 3 due to lack of the right technology.

I prefer the original, looks like their lighting model didn't hold up performance wise and they had to cut it back. Looks far more flat now with a couple of cheap tricks being used to simulate the quality lighting engine they had before, like the flare off the lights and the glow in both the sky and around the smaller lights on the building.

Still looks good, but just not as impressive as it did look originally. There were always doubts as to whether they would be able to maintain the level of quality from the initial reveal till release, i guess they just couldnt manage to do it.

I agree, plus there was no way it was going to look exactly the same as the reveal trailer, but its pretty damn close and also the animations and facial models look great, and vistas amazing!.

plus with the open sandbox there going for and all the crazy features there shoving into this game, how it looks is nothing short of amazing! bring on Sept 14th.

Considering that, while it still looked good, the reveal trailer didn't seem like any kind of technical powerhouse, I was realllly hoping that a downgrade in the cinematics wasn't going to happen.
