Why am I trying to defend Halo Reach on Ars but over where I have to keep the hyperbole within the stratosphere of reality? Odd world we live!
Well here we have a ton of "OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!" posts that aren't even discussing anything so it all sorta balances out :P

Some people are also just unwilling to give Halo a chance. I have people in my clan who will literally just laugh and say, "Halo is for kids," while happily playing another console-noob port. Granted, the latter is still a great game, but the irony is what gets me. Meanwhile, Halo is actually doing things that people would go ape-shit over on the PC if a PC version of the game existed. That hasn't always been true, granted, but I actually think Reach is the first game in the franchise that would feel right at home with proper kbm support and an SDK. Not that it'd ever happen, just sayin'.

Yeah, with shoddy adapters that don't actually improve the experience! Tried it with Halo 2. Wasn't very impressed. I know that you've said that they have improved these things dramatically since then, but I'm just not interested anymore. I'd rather just use the designated controller. To me, using a kbm on the Xbox is almost like using a gamepad on the PC (note: not really half as bad!). But, I do think that it's probably a lot more enjoyable in Reach than it would have been in Halo 2 anyway. The gameplay finally feels brisk enough (THANK YOU SPRINT) that I feel like it would be pretty comfortable.

I'm not. I will play the single player and i will play co-op but i will most certainly take it online as well. Like i said earlier, i think Halo represents the more gung-ho type of gameplay that i like rather than the boring ass CS/Modern Warfare type of games. I don't really have any doubts as to the MP aspect, i think that will be good, it's the campaign i'm more doubtfull about :)

Well I wasn't trying to bash the campaign or anything. I'm actually pretty excited about it. I just think Halo is the package. So I think you'll be pleased.

Reach is a little less gung-ho than previous Halo games in some respects. But it's still a little twitchy. The weapon bloom and armor abilities really throw the franchise a huge curve-ball. It's a new experience, but still distinctly Halo. That's actually quite an achievement, if you ask me.

I do have a 2 month live card knocking about somewhere so I may venture on to MP at some stage.

Played a couple hours. One game of Slayer Pro which was insanely fun. First mission of campaign was awesome as well. Graphics are a lot better than I expected.

Wow, the game is phenomenal, feels tighter, faster and a lot more refined than the Beta. Really enjoying the new maps and the graphics look great! I cant wait to start the campaign!!

My xbox disc tray has been playing up for a month or so now. I have to eject and close the tray a few times to get games to play. This has happened to a previous 360 and it's only a matter of time before it poops out completely. I hate these fuckin machines. Once this one breaks I'll be onto my 6th. At least for now I can play Reach.

Just picked up my LE damn it looks sweet and the book included is fracking great such attention to detail, will load the game onto my new Slim's hard drive tonight and start the SP.

Holy shit, this is the most fun AI I've ever played against in a game. My roommate and I have been going through the campaign on Heroic(wanted our first time through to be more fun than possibly frustrating...will obviously go through on Legendary after), and fighting Elites has been an absolute blast.

6? Sorry man. I've had 3, and only one of them Rroded on me( the other was stolen in the mail when I sent it home from Iraq :(). That's either really bad luck, or you are mean to your machines . Still, bummer man, I feel for you.

Reach, is awesome so far( only got to play for an hour last night). The cinematics are a cut way above previous games. I like that they are using mini cutscenes during gameplay too....

Finished legendary co-op a few hours ago. Pretty solid. Look forward to really diving into the meat of this game now.

only blasted through the first mission since i'm kinda busy with stuff. and shockingly, this looks like the first halo since CE that i've actually liked. the gunplay and elite AI are great

only negatives really are the less then steller visuals (even something like a bit more AA would do the game wonders) and some performance issues (mainly in cutscenes thankfully) and the voice acting which is a bit hit and miss (there was a guy screaming about being ambushed in the first level and it made me cringe. sounded like a student did the voice work...lol)

other then that i'm really looking forward to playing the rest. should get plenty out of it too, since i plan a solo run, a 2 player split-screen co-op run and a 4 player online co-op run. will probably dabble with firefight, but wont be touching competative online.

so far so good.

Yep looks great and vistas and set pecies are amazing!, plays so smooth and the open levels and AI in this game are untouchable.
