I don't think you lose your cR for reloading a checkpoint. It certainly doesn't reset commendations. On the other hand, if you turn on campaign scoring it does reset that score. Best way to test it would be to get a double kill and check the appropiate campaign commendation bar before & after.

And yeah, I'm all over that wrist computer thing. I've not spent a thing since hitting Warrant Officer so I'm up to 60k. Seems so far away.

I'm pretty sure that Lieutenant Colonel is before Captain though and didn't the Weekly Update say there was a Level cap at that level for the time being?

I'm already Captain, so no. The ranks in Halo are (obviously) modeled after military ranks, most likely in the USA, but I presume they follow a similar order in other western military forces.

Captain->Major->Colonel->General

Colonel is the last set of ranks for now tho..

I'm having trouble naming things in my fileshare. It won't let me upload some clips because they apparently have bad names. Does anyone know where I could find information about this? I don't want to name them default BS, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong either. This file was just called "Steve's Epic Sticky," and it won't allow it. I took any and all special characters out too, and that doesn't help either. What gives?

I have to say, even as someone who doesn't play the mp portion much, simply going for the solo challenges and earning cR in the scored campaign stuff (while shooting for the Legendary alone achievement currently) is really addictive. When there's customization of a visual representation of yourself I'm always sick amounts of game (spent my entire first day with Forza 3 in the decal editor - the curse of an artist I tell ya!) and I'm beginning to realise that my addiction to PSO prolly didn't have as much to do with leveling up as it did tricking out my dude.

I also quite like that you can choose to play as a female, which gives Noble Six a little bit more mystique than having a generic male protagonist. Simply placing a "generic female" in a context obviously tailored for a man somehow lends more personality and gravity to the "character" by default. Something I employed in Mass Effect aswell.

Honest question: Is there some kind of standby glitch in this game? I'm never quick to accuse people of cheating, and I don't assume this guy was, but his insane precision while skipping all over the fucking place was really sorta suspicious. He was the only player "lagging," and his latency bar was full green. If he wasn't causing it, he's sure lucky he gets such a nice little boost, especially for someone who clearly has skill to begin with.

Yeah, it happened right after a host migration. That seems to cause some funky things to happen. It cleared itself up though.

Snagged all but the Firefight Assists challenge today. Even did the Weekly Legendary one. Really tough getting 10 assists. Either your team is too good, or they're too terrible. The latter was true today.

It's actually really easy with the grenade launcher.Warrant Officer takes forever. The Grade 3 takes 66k cR to pass through! It's the slowest current rank, and takes the most amount of cR to clear. Things are mostly down hill after that!

I tried that at first, but like I said, if your team can't kill anything...

I fucking hate forge. They hyped the tools so fucking much, and a few basic functions (groups, mirror, object snaps, copy/paste, FUCKING UNDO) would go so fucking far to improve them. I seriously don't understand how anyone has the patience it requires to actually make competent maps, which is probably why 99% of them fucking suck. And as awesome as bungie.net is, the file search is also terrible. There's absolutely no way of sorting or previewing maps in any way that actually helps you judge what might be worth your time. Oh, look! That one has a ton of likes! It must fucking suck! I feel sorry for the intern they must torture with the task of combing through these godawful creations in order to find something that might be worthy of including in a play list update.

Seriously. Undo. How fucking hard could that have been? If you accidentally make a single mistake, you have to either put (ridiculous) effort into fixing it, or quit, load another map, and then reload the map you were previously working on. That's right. Not only is there no undo, but it auto-saves every mistake you make until you clear the map by loading another. Wow. Awesome. Lets make a vidoc about it.

No, not in firefight or campaign. You can only do two local players in those modes. Bummer, I know.

I knew you couldn't in campaign but thought you could in firefight.

Well, the cR devil has me. Also, I shot some real humans online today. Now my hands hurt from too much Reach. :I

I have to be honest, that sorta bothers me. It's hardly surprising, and it's not like I'm not compelled to earn my vanity items and ranks just like anyone else, but that's not what gets me. What gets me is that there are probably a ton of people playing who wouldn't approach an online FPS if it weren't for some kind of artificial incentive! What ever happened to shooting people for the joy of competition? I'm not faulting you or anyone else for that Simon, and it's probably a good thing, it just sorta make me sad at the same time.

It's good that there are ways that developers can get a new audience to approach online gameplay, it just worries me that the people who play for the sake of playing the game itself and not the metagame are marginalized in the process. Now before people tell me that's some kind of wild conspiracy, just keep in mind that in many ways its already lead to sweeping (and in my hardened, jaded opinion, negative) changes to the genre as a whole.

I'm thankful that bungie hasn't really fallen into the same trap that everyone else has, by avoiding a layer that actually changes the game itself, but it just says something to me about the genre as a whole. But on the other hand, I'm glad that you're enjoying something that's relatively unexplored to you in the Haloverse. I know you've gone online in previous titles before, but it's nice to know that you've got some kind of motivation.
