The best is when a corpse it hit by a rocket and flails :P
One thing I liked in the vid is that there's at least a new kind of twisting-through-the-air animation for some deaths by explosion. With respect to the arm-flailing animation, at least the bodies seem to just go ragdoll once they hit the ground instead of that ridiculous, spazzy roll they'd do in Halo 3.

One thing I wish they'd change is how they handle people dying in vehicles. Having a flailing corpse appear just outside is super fucking weak. I'd rather the body stay in the vehicle and there be a quick animation where the next person using the vehicle would throw them out. Also, when vehicles are blown up and the occupants die, I'd prefer them to ragdoll instead of pulling that flailing garbage.

That reminds me, when a dude flying with a jetpack gets killed, having the jetpack simply disappear and the guy flail is super fucking weak yet again.

Obviously none of this stuff really matters, and I figure it's done to give a strong visual cue that you've gotten a kill, but it just comes off as lacking polish.

The death animations are much improved over Halo 3, and look much better, but its still Alpha so hopefully they will e polished up even more come the Beta Demo, then eventual release.

I like the flailing arm thing. It IS a game after all, and Halo has never been uber-realistic. It gives it some personality and is almost identifying, kinda like a joke. I think people would bitch if they took it out too.

It has been a Halo trademark, but i'm watching it again and i cant see no arm flaying ala Halo 3?? at which point in the video dose it happen?

The way I see it is we are going into SP for the more realistic Halo, and going into MP for just raw fun without as much consideration for what may or may not be realistic.

I've always meant to ask this, does Halo have a round system like Counter-Strike?

Meaning, can you have a situation where there are two separate teams and if any member of either team dies, they can't respawn until one team has completed the objective, like planting or defusing a bomb, or everybody from the other team is dead? Is that possible in Halo, or is it the case where you always have a chance to respawn regardless without sticking to a one death per round allowed type deal?

This is still in its Alpha stage of development, so it's hardly surprising to see a couple of niggles in there - even in a trailer.

0:17(red Spartan)....0:20(red jetpack Spartan).....0:21(red Spartan).....0:23(Elite in ghost)....0:24(gravity hammer Spartan).....0:34(red Spartan).....etc......

I can live with it being in the game, especially since there's this new twist through the air thing (0:36...blue Spartan closest to the screen), but I still don't like the warp out of vehicles that happens....or the idea that getting a headshot on someone using a jetpack will just result in them falling sans jetpack with their arms flailing.

I do like that at 0:46, the guy getting sniped keeps his forward momentum after dying though.

I understand how you could tire of the repetition in terms of animation, but I'd take animation over unconstrained rag dolls any day.

Yeah. I enjoyed the spin that was in Halo 3, but I'm glad this is in there now as well.

Am pretty sure you can set up games with the options like that since Halo 2.

Or maybe even Halo 1.. I don't remember. That's always been one of the great things about Halo MP: options. It's an unbeatable package in terms of whats available exclusively on consoles.

I quite liked the trailer. I'm entirely open to new gameplay aspects coming to the series, but I just hope they're USED and not left in dust or overpowered like a lot of stuff in Halo 3 was.

Aside from that, they kinda just threw a bunch of words at us without any explanation. I hope they explain some of that stuff relatively soon, because a lot of it was pretty meaningless.

Yep. You can do that easily. Its just not really seen or used in MM at all.

Yea, that explosion and overall look of that map is pretty badass for MP, or perhaps you're just referring to the amazing explosion and how the circular blast radius expands and the character models appear to react impressively to that blast circle.

It's sorta like this is happening with the character models

Well they don't react that impressively. I mean they still just go into arm flail mode the second the explosion occurs. The explosion does look fantastic though.

I just kinda see it as a goofy death "joke". It's a personality thing. Halo MP is cheifly about fun...

Well, think about this, how many times have any one of us gone flying as a result of a massive explosion happening within close proximity of us?

If we happened to be lucky enough to survive the initial blast before eventually dying when landing on impact, our arms may indeed flail in some misplaced hope of potentially survive without too serious an injury.
