I agree he did a great job on that video. The Invasion alien vs. human gametypes have me really excited as they could offer some really cool gameplay dynamics if done right.

The more I see about Reach the more I keep thinking this is really gonna take Halo to a new level. Basically do what Halo 3 should have done.

Can't wait to try out that new battle rifle. I just wish Bungie would include a press and hold scope instead of the click on/click off scopes from the previous halo games. Also a different button than the analog, I hate that set up.

Ok, but what are the chances you'd flail your arms if you were flying with a jetpack then sniped in the head. Seems to me you'd either just fall or fly off randomly ala the jetpack Brutes in Halo 3.

It's overuse and the transitions into it from dying while in a vehicle for example really age Halo for me, especially since that shit's been around since Halo:CE.

And like I've already said, they've added a different animation in, so that's at least a bit better, and they've also done away with the retarded flop/roll thing that bodies would do as they transitioned from flailing to hitting the ground. Baby steps.

Like I said, it's still in Alpha build. You shouldn't expect all the old animations to be done away with at this stage, in the same way that you shouldn't expect all the environments or models to be fully polished.

yeah, that still doesn't seem like a good reason to care so much. I guess it's just me...
I think the pros of what Bungie does with this franchise so greatly outweigh the cons that I don't feel too picky. I understand why someone would want a better animation, I just don't see why someone would be THAT upset about it. As if it actually hurts the gameplay.

But I do remember the amount of lag between shooting someone in Killzone and when the death animation would start, it was really distracting how long it took to begin, so in that type of situation I think I could better understand it being such a big deal.

I'm just far more worried about how the jetpacks might hurt the balance of the game though. I can see those w/ a sniper rifle being really annoying.

It's because of all the pros that I am so picky. The game does so much right that I wish they could polish it up a bit more. I realize it has no bearing on gameplay.

Well, that's what the beta's for I suppose. It might be hard as hell aiming...especially zoomed in while using a jetpack...plus, you're pretty exposed if you're flying around. I'm hoping it balances out.

That doesn't account for places you might be able to reach with the jet pack though. I imagine it will open up new areas of the level design to camping, or at least it could in theory. I'm not worried though, you can already exploit grenade jumps and I miss sword flying up buildings in Halo 2 :P

Yeah if Halo 3 is any indication you'd probably really be putting yourself out there being in the air. On the jumpers(man cannons) people got shot/sniped out of the air all the time. The 3d map should help as well presumably.

Use the active camo ability and snipe the camping jet pack guy.

Like MW1/MW2 you need to think outside the box :P
