That leaked info sounds very legit to me. Sounds like an MS focus test, which they do an awful lot of.

When you consider the corresponding screens, it's pretty hard to think it's anything but legit. It's all super early info though, so who knows what may change by the time we get around to playing this.

Hopefully the beta is an early spring deal.

And so it begins!!

Halo Reach will receive a "world premiere" on North American television next month.

That's according to Game Trailers head Geoff Keighley, who posted on his Twitter: "The world premiere of HALO: REACH happens only at the 2009 Video Game Awards, Live 12/12 on Spike."

All we've seen of the Bungie shooter so far is the brief E3 teaser video, and more recently a bunch of leaked screenshots.

According to the recent leak, Reach will feature squad commands, a Call of Duty-style perk system and of course, new guns.

We will of course, bring you all the new info as it arrives.

I can't recall there ever being a CGI trailer for anything Halo. Except Halo Wars. But you know.. yeah.. make a thrilling RTS trailer with in game footage and I'll bake you a really big cake.

I'm not going to get excited unless the trailer is a proper one showing gameplay. CGI trailers are absolutely worthless to me.

LMAO!!! Bungie is a really quirky studio when it comes to graphics. We all remember the 1st E3 Halo trailer where the MC came out decked in armor that revealed incredible detail and geometry.

Then Bungie comes out later and says that they aren't going for that look anymore, that they wanted the graphics to be closer to the artistic style used in the first two Halo games.

I've learned to stop bitching so much about graphics because there really isn't anything that we can do about it. We would all love it if every developer went that extra mile for graphics but if the story and gameplay captivates then you're willing to overlook the lack of polish and shine a bit.

I hope it's real-time to see what kind of graphics tech we might expect in Reach, but I'm excited either. I'm sure the opening we'll give us a lot of material to talk about, story-wise and possibly gameplay as well.

I'm just hoping it's representative of the final product, with games these days, you just don't know what to expect. Bungie failed to meet expectations for H3 in so many levels it's not even funny. I'm of course talking on a technical level. I haven't gotten that "wow" factor since Halo 1, and that's because they've been stuck in the past.

Halo animations were cool, and characters looked alright. It's not cool anymore when even your latest games (ODST) has some atrocious facial animations, or animations in general, characters look blocky as hell, and just not up to standards. Textures in Halo 1 were top notch--I still remember that shining metal, the tree textures, the grass texture.....but a whole generation later and you are still using the same techniques won't do it. It's just so much stuff they've just sort of forgotten about.

When you get games out there like Call of Duty running at 60fps, Gears of War, Killzone 2, Uncharted......and then you see ODST......it's a big "WTF is going here".

That's because Bungie doesn't seem to know how to pull off big battles graphically or performance wise. Each of the levels in their Halo games can be approached in a kind of paint by numbers fashion if you know what I'm trying to say here. It's fun but it's also very tightly choreographed, sometimes too well choreographed.

I stopped playing Dragon Age long enough to put in some time with CODMW2 and the scale of those battles were just HUGE, EPIC. Bungie did seem to me at least continuing to play it safe with ODST, it doesn't hold a candle to CODMW2. What worked once for them just isn't cutting it anymore. But then I could be wrong about that because you could head over to Bungie.net right now and there would be no end of praise from their worshiping masses. Honestly, they really don't seem to demand all that much from Bungie, so for the most part Bungie keeps providing them with the same gaming experiences.

For some reason Bungie have never been about the graphics, they have always concentrated on gameplay/combat/AI ect..., hence there untouched success on any console, but if they finally do get the graphics up to scratch and still deliver on everything else then wow we will be in for one hell of a ride!!

Just last week there were several threads on HBO bitching and tearing into ODST and its faults and offering their own opinions on what Reach should be like and such, all from some of the most hardcore and longstanding fans of the series.

And b.net? lmao, theres always bitching and moaning going on there.

Also, the Spike footage is said to be pretty substantial and include a lot of actual gameplay from the first level of the game. looking forward to seeing it. Hoping it exceeds expectations (which at this point, for me, is just slightly prettier graphics and a couple of novel gameplay additions and probably new guns/vehicles.
