One thing that'll confuse a lot of people is that the shield has to be depleted entirely until you can wear down the health. Meaning when you have 1% shields and someone snipes you in your torso you don't die and still have full health. There are weapons that are still on hit kills, like the shotty, sword and sniper (as long as it is a headshot). And thank god for that. I thought it was very cheap the way it used to be in Halo 3. 6 bullets out of the AR and a melee would kill in less than a second.
@ManThatYouFear: Grenades aren't that bouncy any more. And they have a bigger explosion radius than in Halo 3.

Oooh, Profound, isn't it?
Really, the fairest way to do these things is to take answers over a period of time (5 mins) and pick one at random. I'm not going to bitch though, as I was lucky and got in on a first-answer basis.
Animation wise, they said there would be a good number though of course once you've seen them all, you've seen them all regardless of how many. Think of it this way though, do people get bored of watching themselves steal a car in GTA? Not really. I'm a melee heavy player and I might average two assassinations a game which has an average length of ten minutes or so.
What I think will be an issue that gets discussed is the change to shields, melee damage etc that Viginti_Tres pointed out. Remember all the bitching about melee and lag in Halo 3? The balance is tremendously hard to get right and even with two games and a beta, Bungie had to revisit it post release. I imagine it'll get tweaked, which makes the beta worth doing.

I always hated the way shields worked in Halo 3, Jin is right about that. Halo 2 shields had a very good balance in close quarters combat, but they're not using the same mechanics as Reach. A melee while running would inflict a bit more than 1/2 shield damage and a shot from the BR to the head would instantly kill afterwards. Still it's very similar and it will make the game better.
The only real problem I see is armour lock. It's just too strong on a close quarters map, it promotes randomness in FFA and it's downright overpowered in a team game, it's making most power weapons useless. It will get abused extensively, have you seen how fast it recharges? Bungie have to either rebalance it or it won't appear on loadouts on smaller maps (after people whined on their forums for months).
Next to armour lock evade seems to be the most useful armour ability to me, and the most fun. Unlike sprint it doesn't have a moment of pause as you pull up the weapon, which makes it incredibly useful in actual combat. But that's Elite only, so it shouldn't be a real balance issue.
It'll be interesting to see how the Needlerifle will compare to the DMR. The explosive nature of the needles might give it the edge and I already see the whiners complaining about how the DMR is not the strongest weapon. Same happened in the Halo 3 Beta when the Carbine was the shit (and they nerfed it so it became obsolete).
I like the fact that the pistol is actually up to twice as fast at killing at short range as the DMR. I'm sure it'll be the next skill weapon and it'll actually dominate at CQC.
can you play in 3rd person?? At times it shows the spartan shooting in third person, not just for the assassinations.
Currently playing: Uncharted 2, CoDMW2 (PS3), Torchlight (PC)

I still think some of the changes are a little troublesome, but I also have faith that it will be balanced relatively well. I do believe that it's mostly a case of fixing what isn't broken though.
