Well, I'm pretty confused, but I haven't read up on Arena as much as you have obviously. Are they still using the truskill ranking per playlist, but hiding the ranking? Is that what you're saying? Or are you saying that they're still using it in the arena playlists? I don't like the idea (if this is the case, again, I'm getting confused!) that ranks are being reset every season. That means that the playing field will be pretty uneven at the beginning of every month, doesn't it? I don't know. The whole thing sounds a lot more convoluted than what we already have in Halo 3, and I think the Halo 3 system works. Who cares if people want to go up in rank? It encourages you to play better! That's just motivation.

Right now, arena sounds like World of Warcraft to me, and that's sorta scary. Everyone, lets go get some honor!

I really don't get the point of the cR scoring either, or the commendations. The latter just appears to be extended rewards/medals, which is cool, but not really necessary. And cR? I really don't care how much I earn per game! Maybe there will be more motivation in the form of better things to spend you bungie bucks on in the retail game, but that stuff has never really motivated me in an FPS anyway. It's all about the actual gameplay. It's a good thing that's awesome.

sweet baby jesus i suck ass at headhunter. anyone know how to NOT get killed four steps away from collecting your skulls in the 'collection zone" or w/e it's called lol. Any advice for a pattern of play that makes it easier besides just camping by the drop off areas?

I dunno if someone mentioned this allready;

I saw someone using the armor lock-ability just a bit in front of me, so I run up behind him and wait untill his armor lock drains.
Then I usually just melee him in the back. But this time the guy runs out of armor lock and when he gets up he is turned around facing me and melee's me in the face killing me instantly (I had full shields/health).......
Is this some bug related to the armor lock ability, because it happened a couple of times today?

My skills with the DMR are improving a bit since having played a couple of SWAT and Slayer pro rounds. But I've got a small problem with the pistol and DMR; I can get the shields down really easily, but if the crosshair is just a bit bigger (accuracy) I really have a problem getting the final headshot in...

And then there's the Covy weapons; I've got a big difficulty getting kills with most of them, the needler rifle is just a crap version of the DMR if you ask me...

Armour lock emits an EMP burst when it finishes, so it disabled your shields. I've seen videos of people using armour lock offensively with a fair bit of success.

Yeah, I dunno...armour lock is also supposed to slightly knock away people who are in close proximity, but I'm not sure if it always does it or only after it has been fully "charged."

I know what you mean though, I've seen it happen, and I've done it a few times myself; I'm not sure what exactly happened though.

You can turn while in armour lock, as soon as you exit it you're actually facing the direction you turn to. Don't get near a guy who armour locks, he'll always have the upper hand.

I hate the armor lock. Of course, I don't use it, but playing 1 flag CTF and everyone defending has armor lock gets very frustrating. It sucks too, because his buddy will spawn on him while I wait :(. I LOVE Swat though. Stockpile is a blast too...

Armour lock is great :)
And SWAT is a absolute blast fucking LOVE IT! get this ghost recon vibe from it :) just need slowing down a notch and 0 spawns and based on invasion .. roll on custom games :D

Thats what i mean, but i prefer the "protect base" of recon "invasion" should fill that nicely, slow the characters down a few notches to give them more weight and less run and gun 0 spawns and pistol BR AR and snipers only, 4 on 4 have 1 of each weopon spawn at the starting area for each team, get them to choose there weopens, no weopens or ammo on map, cause them to be carefull of there shots

And no nades, telling you it would be fucking epic :D

Just had my very first game. Team Slayer on Swordbase. Got my hands on the sniper first, felt very good right from the start. The grenades are extremely powerful. Someone used armour lock in front of me and I was in a narrow corridor, should have run away. Controls are good, I have to get used to the timing of the semi auto weapons to give a definitive answer.

End results: 2 x overkill exterminations and a running riot. Not bad. :)

God i hate swordbase with a passion specially on CTF i get soooo lost on it :( powerhouse is fantastic love it, feels like a old halo map with freshness swordbase reminds me of that horrid halo:CE map where the map was like a space ship ripped down the middle and you had to use portals to travel from one section to the other... hated that map.
