According to Gamefront.de, with help of babelfish, this popped up in a famitsu interview:

Mistwalker examines Blue dragee-on and draws to Odyssey successor 29.01.08 - Hironobu Sakaguchi of Mistwalker examines straight whether one draws to successors to the games of roles Odyssey Click Picture and Blue Dragon Click Picture will develop.

I can't swear there's any of the original (or any at all) meaning in there, but it sounds like they're examining interest in sequels to both.

One could either go WOO! POSSIBLE! or frown a bit at the lack of incentive. I think if MS hopes to pry any sort of interest out of japanese RPG gamers they'll have to pour money on top of Sakaguchi's head until Lost Odyssey 5 generates some buzz.

And I'm not even kidding when I say that.

A Prequel for Lost Odyssey is much welcome. A sequel for Blue Dragon too, provided Shu and the others have grown up.

I agree. Microsoft has some big titles coming from Japan.

They gotta have a developer that is willing to make big titles for their platform exclusively.

You don't get monster success from these franchises overnight. They need to keep at it. Why burn a bridge with Mistwalker when they are putting out high quality games for MS? I hope both games get a sequel or they continue to make more rpgs.

If MS doesn't support Mistwalker going forward then I hope Sony does.

I agree fully, and it's also why I really can't see long term potential in Blue Dragon really.

The reason franchises like FF are so big is thanks in large part to their ability to reinvent themselves. The name ultimately stands more as a seal of quality than anything else, and I think that's the kind of RPG presence the Xbox platform needs to attract proper attention.

I agree fully, and it's also why I really can't see long term potential in Blue Dragon really.

The reason franchises like FF are so big is thanks in large part to their ability to reinvent themselves. The name ultimately stands more as a seal of quality than anything else, and I think that's the kind of RPG presence the Xbox platform needs to attract proper attention.

I think Blue Dragon could just as easily be re-invented in a similar fashion though.

The legend of the Blue Dragon and the powers involved with it's existence. From there just setup a set of stories where a new generation of heroes get bestowed with the powers.

A thousand years later etc sorta deal. A blue dragon sequel however (based on how part 1 ended) can be done with exactly the same cast of characters as needless to say I feel things are just heating up.

Yeah, I did shed some tears in Disk 1... The last time I did that was when I saw the good ending of Bioshock. I normally emotionless when it comes to JRPG plot...didn't cry at Aeris, didn't cry for Tidus.

I also agree that LO can be a franchise title. BD on the other hand should be more like a trilogy or something self-contained. I love Blue Dragon since I'm a fan of simplistic design. LO on the other hand has the whole plot movement going for it that it makes me keep on playing. The inclusion of a 'novel' with short stories is a great idea for a JRPG.

That sounds brilliant. Like Optimus said, they should definately do the lost odyssey thing like final fantasy does. i.e. a new cast each time. Blue dragon can go the dragon quest way.

These two franchises really do have the potential to be big names in Japan. they just need bigger budgets and need to take bigger chances.

There is an incredible TV spot here for lost odyssey.

With heavy play of that ad, LO may do some incredible numbers.

Anyway, holy shit that is an awesome and inspired ad. Whom ever MS has cutting thoses trailers and selecting the music is a genius. I actually like that ad better than the Gears ad.

White rabbit is one of the all time classics from the late 60's. Given Kaim's memory loss and retrieval, a song about a mind-^%$^ seems perfectly appropriate.

Add was god, music is horrible and really didn't suit it IMO, they should have used the trailer that shows at the start of the game if you don't press anything on the controller, same as they JP trailer but with english voices.
