Prepare To Drop!!
Just got pretty much everybodies loyalty mission to do now, a few sidequests and it's off to the relay we go this weekend hopefully. Anyone got any mining tips in the meantime?

What I do to finish off a planet is the following once you get the upgrade. Press the left trigger repeatedly while holding the two sticks pointing int the same direction. Follow an up and down zigzag pattern--go up diagonally, and down diagonally while keeping the same direction with the two sticks. Again, repeatedly press the left trigger.
The important thing here is to keep an eye on the graph, and not the feel. Since you are doing this so quick, the controller has no time to vibrate before you let it go and press it again in a different place of the planet. So as soon as you see the graph do a jump on the graph, let go and find that point. I got really good at this. I can usually get a rich planet to moderate or good on the first turn of the planet--within a minute I'd say.
Happy mining.

Now with every game I put off the scanning until the missions on Illium become available. The taxi port on Illium has a kiosk where I buy the Pylos Nebula map, that one sector has everything any of us will ever need throughout the game. I got 23,000- EZO, 180,000 Iridium, 140,000 Platinum (the most used resource in the game) and another 150,000 in Palladium. Combine that with the 55,000 you get of each resource when you start a new game and you're covered for every upgrade.
It costs about an hour and half's worth of time to scan all of the systems in this sector and then I'm done with scanning for the entire game. I just make sure that I have snacks to eat while I'm doing it or else it will literally put me to sleep every single time.
I wished I could sell or trade some of that stuff at the hub worlds. I remember playing for the first time and landing on Illium and seeing all of the trading stations and listening to the chatter between the Volus and Asari and incorrectly assumed that I would be able to trade resources for whatever I wanted to purchase. Boy was I wrong about that :(
Also, Insane is an absolute bitch. I thought the recruit mission for Garrus was a bitch. But when I got to the Colony being attacked by the collectors I had to invent completely new tactics! Especially for that damn thing at the end the praetorian. So annoying. Just having to completely throw out nearly everything you've been using for the rest of the game!
Also didn't help that my allies are such dumb bitches and either ignore what I say entirely or follow it so rigidly as to get themselves killed.
Not looking forward to some of the forthcoming sections.
Edit: sugar! fix my spoiler tags!

Looks pretty cool!
Also awesome is Legion which makes me really glad I preserved the Rachni now as it's a similar sort of thing with eye-popping possibilities for ME3.
Anyhow, I've just rocked up at the Krogan homeworld and I've done 3 loyalty missions so a bit left to go yet.

They tossed out the Mako and replaced it with THIS? Some kind of half-ass futuristic combat racer? Oh man, what the hell is happening over there at Bioware?! They really don't want to make RPGs anymore do they?
No wonder they're giving this shit away for free :P

As for the end I saved everyone, mainly because I did all the loyalty missions and made common sense decisions when picking out teams (love this feature of the last mission btw) i.e. sending Legion in to the vents, Samara for the field. I *always* kept Miranda and Thane with me as I assumed I'd be able to keep an eye on them and keep them alive (Thane because he's cool, Miranda because she's the hot love interest).
I'm quite interested in seeing endings where people die. Especially Jack. I did have casual sex with her but felt dirty afterwards. I'm gonna read about the Shepard dying options as they sound interesting.
The end mission was excellently paced though I agree that the end isn't a patch on Mass Effect 1. ME1 bombarded you with big decisions, relevations and spectacle. ME2 has an excellent final mission but the decisions are kinda missing. Final boss doesn't sit well with the aesthetic of the game. It looks comical, not "Holy fuck they're turning humans into a Reaper WTF?!"
Playthrough was totally renegade I might add, almost filled the meter up and kept my scars. Gave Collector tech to the Illusive Man, have a feeling I might change that decision considering his reaction at the end.

Which is good, because I don't want to get more involved with that stupid character.
