I don't like everything that I'm hearing so far either, but THIS one track stood out. It instantly reminded of me of ME1 and my first time on the Citadel, C-Sec, gun fights in the wards, meeting Garrus, Tali and Wrex for the first time, searching for Keepers etc.
Remember it's just a sample, not a complete track. Anyway enjoy.

Prepare To Drop!!
Deus Ex HR + Tron Legacy + ME1 = ME3 music :)
Gameplay felt great, controlling Shepard feels tighter than in ME2.
Gunplay is improved aswell, weapons packs some great punch and the kills are great too with some great gore in the headshots.
Vanguard charge is a little disorientating at first but you get used to it quick.

Aiming with analog sticks is atrocious. You can argue that it's not, but I find it to be slow and mechanical, the exact opposite of the mouse, which is snappy, intuitive, natural movement. And it's not just me--the games themselves say as much by slowing movement, drowning games in sticky cameras and auto-aim. That stuff stinks.
But.. Mass Effect isn't exactly demanding in this department anyway, is it? It wasn't in the past.

I've played loads of Halo. I don't honestly think it's all bad.
Mods, stop changing my SIG! I'm going to end up banning you!
If anything I think Bioware released it to give us an opportunity to become familiar with the new control elements. And I'm clearly going to need the practice when popping in and out of cover. Tapping (A) the wrong way can send you into a roll and out of cover. Leaning and peaking around corners no longer protects you from enemy fire, and you'll be cut to shreds if you stay in one place for too long. Nothing spoilerific though.
This game feels ALOT like ME1 to me, and this of course makes me very happy. I played ME1 recently and if I hadn't reloaded so often in the demo I wouldn't have even noticed a difference. Interesting that we should play chapter 3 and Bioware almost brings the gameplay full circle one again. Almost..........thermal clips break this little illusion ;) No one should worry about weapon sounds, they are nerfed until you add mods that improve their capability and consequently their audio fidelity. lol The textures on Shepard and some main characters are dark and flat, Bioware is saying that the proper textures and character lighting will be there in the final game. I hope so because both Shepard and Anderson looked almost unrecognizable during close-ups.
The only disappointing news is that the trial (I can talk about this now because it's not a spoiler anymore) that Shepard was supposed to be on after the events of "Arrival" is not going to happen. The trial was gutted so that newbies could transition easier into the last chapter of the Shepard story arc. EA/Bioware are still convinced that new gamers are going to come aboard for the 3rd game. No it doesn't make sense to me either but there it is and I'm no longer grumbling about it.
The trial was something that many of us were looking forward to because unlike the other DLC expansions like Overlord, LotSB and Stolen Memories, Arrival was forced on us and forced into the canon whether you played it or not. Some of us really wanted an opportunity to either explain, defend or justify our Shepard's actions. I personally wanted to OUT Admiral Hackett as the culprit behind the whole disaster, it was an Alliance covert mission IN Batarian Space, and my Shepard had to fall on his sword and take the fucking blame for what happened. I COVERED ALL of Hackett's black bag shit when he was asking me to off an entire Biotic colony and get the Alliance's other questionable projects in order. I was a Council Spectre but he turned me into his personal cleaner, and what was his thanks? To clip my wings and moth ball on Earth?
Hackett couldn't cover for me? A damned rock hit the Batarian relay (broken lore because relays are supposed to be able to withstand supernovas), and the Normandy is a stealth ship. Who the fuck would have known? Since there's NEVER any recorded proof of Shepard's encounters (which never made any sense), and it's not like anyone ever believes anything Shepard says anyway. ROLMAO!!!! Come on Hackett, you couldn't do Shepard this one solid? Eh....it doesn't matter now, the issue won't even be addressed. Mac Walters is really going down as a terrible lead writer, because if these aren't his retcon decisions, then he should have fought harder to protect the integrity of the story arc. It really does appear that ME2 was about NOTHING.
End of rant. Can't wait for the final game :) lol!!

But to me the Engineer has the most improved powers and skill tree, that class is like a long range demolition expert now.
Just one complaint though. WTF is up with Shepard's running and sprinting animations? Is he constipated?
lols.

I'm also having problems getting the cover and roll system down. Objects on the field keep locking my character into cover, making it sometimes impossible to make a smooth roll out of gun fire. One second I'm running because I'm trying to avoid being hit by the Atlas. I take a hard running roll to the right, but instead I'm locked into cover with the Atlas to my back! I try to get out of that cover only to roll right into the next cover object.......... again, I'm exposed. Tapping (A) creates alot of critical missteps. It really needs to be patched.
Proximity mines don't seem to be a good choice in the middle of a battle, I don't invest any of Garrus' points in that. I don't have any real complaints about combat except that I don't feel rewarded for trying to employ strategy, some of the the corridors in the demo are just too long to effectively flank on coming enemies. Although from looking at the progression of the power and skill sets, I get the impression that Adepts and Vanguards are going to be able to bulldoze their way through most of the fighting. Engineers and Infiltrators can take enemies apart at range. So some of these issues might work themselves out.
But at this point, I haven't had good opportunities to flank, and I don't want to sprint or roll. Both are a pain in the ass to watch and execute.
