The main and inescapable problem is that the Catalyst was always on the Citadel. Meaning that Saren didn't need to travel through the Conduit on Illos, the Catalyst was always there and fully capable of letting the Reapers through.
Because of this ending, the Reapers didn't need Sovereign, Saren, Harbinger or the Collectors. The endings are a mess because it also reveals the Reapers backward logic. Killing and harvesting all organics to keep them from building machines. What happened to the uncomprehendable reasons that Sovereign alluded to in ME1? What was so hard to understand about machines killing organics to maintain control of them? That is the most overused plot in science fiction today.
This wrecked alot of the universe's lore in the process. For one, when the Reapers arrive they historically shut down ALL of the mass relays so that everyone remains isolated in their own systems while they take their time moving from sector to sector, harvesting as they go along. The Illos to Citadel relay was the only relay they didn't control, NOW we're told that there was always a Master Reaper A.I on the Citadel. So why didn't space god boy shut down all of the relays? If he has MAGIC powers that can turn every singe organic in the entire galaxy into synthetic hybrids, he couldn't shut down the relays?
Given that there are so many plot holes created with the ending Doom_Bringer, I find it quite the stretch to believe Bioware crafted such an ending as the vid you linked. It makes TOO MUCH sense. lol
It might have something to do with Drew leaving Bioware and feud between writers...

That said, Dooms vid won me over and if the indoctrination theory is correct, then it is a very well crafted ending.

*Oh, and Drew can't say anything about it for the next 6 months. Bioware/EA made him sign a strict NDA, he tweeted about it when people kept asking him what he thought about the endings. Same thing goes for any devs who leave over the next 6-8 months.
Clearly not everyone at Bioware is happy with the way things concluded in ME3 and Bioware/EA just wants to make sure that any new departures (and there are expected be quite a few since the last remnants of ME team is breaking up) keep their mouths shut.

I'm not so much annoyed at the ending for how it tied up the plot as I am that it offered no closure. I don't know who is alive! I'm assuming the two crew members I brought with me died? They didn't tell me!
I had a galactic readiness of 50%, although I had well above the minimum requirement for war, it seemed to mean nothing. Nobody died in my ending, at least that I know of. Just Mordin, Tali, and Miranda.
All the choices boil down to nothing when you look at it. The game gives you 3 choices of how the story will tie itself up, regardless of whether you're evil or good or who's alive. Just offered no closure to events.
They basically take the game's last moments and put in on rails, your decisions really don't matter at all. Shepard has no other options and MUST accept the Catalyst's choices. In many ways, the Reapers win because Shepard doesn't have the option to tell the Catalyst to go to hell. After everything he's done to stop the Reapers, his only option is to play along.
They ended things much in the same way they did with Dragon Age2, and it's my guess that they're going to follow the same formula for ME3's DLC. Stand alone stories that won't effect the outcome of the ending, like DA2's Mark of the Assassin and Legacy. I didn't invest in any of those and won't be purchasing anything additional for ME3 either.
I don't know why it's becoming so hard for us to get COMPLETE games anymore. Bioware lied about the timing of the day one DLC's release, Javik's dialog is tied in everyone else's. There's even a moment in the game where you find Garrus, Javik and Cortez talking together in the crew lounge area. You couldn't have that scene if Javik's voice work wasn't already done well in advance.
But I did not feel ME3 was incomplete, I was actually alright with the ending, it was just more brutal than what hollywood has me accustomed to... In a sense as I posted earlier, sacrifice is a theme, and you give up A LOT to save A LOT, seems about fair...

^THIS is the proper link. And yes it's STILL spoilerific.
It was another indoctrination theory that backs up what Doom_Bringer was saying before. But I'm still not buying any DLC. If it's Bioware's intention to play "LOST" with it's franchise and not give us complete games anymore then they can count me out.
Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. You’ll hear more on this in April. We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received. This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue.
IMO this game studio is losing so much credibility by going this route.
I haven't played the game, so I've been avoiding major spoilers, and as such have not really been following this very closely.
Prepare To Drop!!

And I don't believe they're planning alternate ending content, what I they will do is probably provide more clarification for the endings they've already provided in any future dlc.

It's time they start drinking, good ol jack will make any game ending your own, even if you don't have a gaming system.

*Basically the audio files reveal that the final battle was like ME2's suicide run on fuckin STEROIDS! With everyone Shepard gathered from the Geth to Krogan having a scene stealing moment.
Instead the final battle is just Shepard defending two thanix batteries :(
The links got rubbed out by moderators, as soon as I can find another link I'll post it. It's looks like Bioware DID have a happy ending but either ran out of time or Mac and Casey just decided to scrap it.
Hmmmmm.
And yeah, that kind of ending does sound plausible.
Most of the ME3 trailers show a BIG fight to get back earth... so that's either good marketing, or back then, than was the plan...
I guess Ill postpone my 2nd play through for now.

I dont get the bitching about the ending? i thought it was well thought out and executed, i went for the Synthesis ending
