I have a couple friends that are pretty good as well (1.25 KDR) One has a 43% accuracy rating 0_o Anyhow, it would be some fun times getting together in Groundwar and just totally destroying the opposition :D
(What would be even better is if there was cross console play ... I can wish. I would put my money on the Gamersyde 360 MW2 players :P)

I didn't play MW2 for months, almost sold it (dunno why I didn't really). But sure it'd be fun to play with you guys, just for the laughs.

That is probably the #1 reason to play PC games, though, because it isn't even an issue to consider (which makes introducing PC gamers into console gaming dialogue uneven anyhow). But the cost of maintaining a PC that can play games at reasonable visuals and high framerates isn't cheap. I had built a PC in 2004 (6800GT overclocked) and MW1 kicked its rear at 800x600 with almost everything on low. BUT at least you have the option.
In console ville, everything is given one option, determined by the developer. Which is nice in that the playing field is level, but not so nice for those of us who really like a well designed game that is responsive and visually clean in terms of framerate.

It can certainly be the feature that tips the scales, and I'll take as many frames as I can get my hands on!

Within five minutes of starting the game up, match making stuck me in a glitched room where I got a billion experience points for a single kill, boosting me to level 70. That was actually a treat, since it allowed me to check out more of the game. I got to try my hand at some of the more ridiculous configurations (like marathon/lightweight/commando pro) without having to put an excessive amount of time into the game.
There were other technical issues too, which I actually consider the bigger fault. There were a fair amount of laggy games, host migration, etc, and the game punishes you for leaving games that are unplayable. The lack of dedicated servers and mods are still what ultimately killed this game for me. I'm not a big fan of many of the design choices, but I still think it's more of a shame that we can't adapt the great gameplay that lays beneath all of that for competition. Oh, and the ground war playlist was broken for me. I could only play it with friends who started the game, or else it would throw me into the same glitched game of Rust over and over again. Rust is a garbage map, but I liked some of the other levels!
FWIW, I found the SMG's a little less effective than they are in Call of Duty 4, but holy crap are some of the rifles good. That ACR is a beastly gun! And you can carry a PP2000 instead of an actual pistol? When you consider how badly they've nerfed the deagle (it blows in this game), I'm not sure why anyone would opt to carry anything but a machine pistol (and the PP2000 borders on SMG).
It was fun, but it definitely didn't make me want to buy it. It did make me want to reinstall COD4.

Whatever entertains, that's the point, right?
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?
I was tooling around in splitscreen the other day, just blasting a couple of inert controllers, and I think it actually improved my aim. Also, burst rifles own. :)
And Acert is right. +arrier inbound? uh oh. OMA over to my coldblooded scavenger stinger class. BAM! +300. Thank you very much.
It amazes me how people manage to get their asses slaughtered by the air support so often. I only get killed where its unavoidable or if I forget i'm not on a cold blooded class.

Suhweet!
I've gotten tired of all the bullshit that happens MW2. Deaths that are completely unavailable, air support raining down nearly constantly (it seems), noob tubes, stupid teammates, no good indicator of when the game is going to end (lost many EXP from un-called-in support because the game ended earlier than I was expecting), rifles that absolutely dominate everything else, LMGs that are more like rilfes being the only LMG in use, fucking quickscopers running around using snipers like shotguns, shitty spawning and shitty maps trapping you out in the open with chopper gunners flying around or continually spawning you in one corner of the map with the enemies surrounding you when the other half of the map is completely vacant, it never feeling like you've done well unless you go 20-10 or more. Ridiculous challenges and campers galore and shots not registering and me dying and whats on the kill-cam not matching up with what I saw and and bloody tactical knifing cammandoers and .... GAH!
So, I went back to CoD4 for a few hours. Mostly kicked arse. Kicked some MAJOR arse at times. Remembered how fun it was. Remembered how good the guns felt! How actually aiming and firing at an opponent would kill them and they couldn't just charge at you from across the room and get the kill with their knife, how you actually had to temper your fire a bit to compensate for recoil, how your bullets actually registered and not every fight was come across a guy round a corner, fire and it was a toss up whether your bullets would even connect. How flanking and aggressive charges into the back of their lines are rewarded, not punished with a spawn switch because the maps are so damn huge you can't even get around their back side....
Remembered some of the old problems the game had: choppers nearly indestructable, still have dumb teammates, many maps dominated by snipers and not in a fun way.
I quit that CoD4 too. After I go massively positive every game for a streak of 10ish, only winning 1 or two on the way, often with most if not all of the rest of my team negative, I end in a game where I go 32-9, and my team still loses by a single kill (600-610)... ugh. Which, thinking about it, means I made over half the kills for my team, and barely conceeded my fair share of the points to the other team.
Its just, not fun feeling no matter how well you do, its not going to matter, you're still going to lose because your team are utter retards and can't stay in a safe place for the last 15 seconds of the game. I mean, I don't really care about winning that much, but I like to feel that my play at least matters to the outcome of the game. I was just laughing, I couldn't believe it, it was ridiculous, I was doing better and better every match, and its absurd that in a DEATHMATCH game, I still lose with that score. No one on my team managed to even break even. And after all that, because I did so well, next match, I'm put on the shitty team again (who could be even worse than the chumps I just was with). Doomed to a cycle of losses.
So, yeah. Fuck this game. Fuck Infinity Ward.
Is the other half by Treyarch any good? If so, which one would you guys reccomend?
Should I just go out and buy Battlefield for the summer? Is it worth it? £24.99 on play atm.

I'm enjoying the deathmatch mode in the Medal of Honor beta, but it's a bit of a mess, and the game lacks any real identity. It's Call of Duty lite, stuck somewhere in between these two franchises.

It's been so long since this thread was bumped that I had almost forgotten that people weren't allowed to dislike anything about MW2 without being criticized themselves.

Interestingly MW2 still tops MW1, Halo 3, ODST, Gears 1/2, etc on my friends list. What is the most popular Live game per MS these days?

I only offered RC_Master some honest advice per his question. I'm not here to rant about how much better of a game Call of Duty 4 is. I was really disappointed with this game, because I was a huge fan of this franchise. I already offered my impressions when I played it. But I'm quite done with Call of Duty, and that includes bothering to discuss it with people whose only reaction is personal criticism for something so absolutely not personal. You still like it? More power to you.
The game can be bad ass as long as you're bad ass, but that's just the upper 0,1% of the players. For the rest of the population, the reality is a different one. It's part of the reason why BC2 struggles to put up a fight against MW2 and why MoH will probably completely fail at that. If everyone could experience BC2 like I do they'd be all over the game (yeah I'm a bad ass at the game, friends drool when they watch me play), but it's hard to get any excitement when you're seated 2 miles away from the action scoped in and your only objective is to retain a 1 k/d ratio. MW2 is the perfect game for these people. It provides rewards for the most boring style of plays.
I have to admit I was a little jealous when I looked at your Halo 3 stats. I wish I was that good at Halo. I'm not all that at BC2 or COD4 either, but I'm pretty good. I'm easily better than average, at least! I have to say though, I can't blame people for wanting to keep their KDR even, but if you're just camping at the back of the map and not actually playing, what does that even mean? That's why I'm not the least bit shamed of my KDR in BC2. It's pretty solid (1.57), but I have friends who are high above that.. but I just don't see them taking any risks. What fun is that?
MoH will fail mostly because it lacks the solid fundamentals that made Call of Duty good since COD1. It's stuck somewhere uncomfortably in the middle and it lacks any real identity. It's not awful, it's just not good enough.
