Inscrit depuis 7424 JoursI'm not a kid, I don't ride the bus, train, or go on long road trips in the back seat. Why would I spend $250 to play Uncharted/Killzone on a smaller screen when I'm sitting across from my flat screen?
Inscrit depuis 6904 JoursAlso isnt the 3ds doing well? Didnt it sell better than the original ds by this point in the lifespan of the console?

Inscrit depuis 7578 JoursI'm with Jolli and Megido. The iPod/Phone is a joke as a gaming device.
People who put serious time into phone games should really reconsider gaming in general. They certainly shouldn't sink $60 into console titles when they can be entertained by shitty flash games.
Inscrit depuis 7424 JoursAnd you can dis the 99 cent game experience all you want, but there are some legitimately fun games I can play for 10mins and be on my way without worrying about lugging a bulky games device with me. I'm a hardcore gamer at home, everywhere else I'm either driving or doing something else. Japan is a highly metropolitan area where that sort of culture thrives, and there are some places (namely NYC) in the US like that, but tell me you don't tend to see more people with iPods/Phones than with handhelds, including kids. They're in direct competition because their target consumer's money is being spent elsewhere and for the same time that they'd be using their product.

Inscrit depuis 6904 JoursAs for value per dollar i think my console games win as well. Demon's Souls. at least 120 hours, that's less than a dollar per hour, the only game on my iphone i think i played more than an hour was probably Game Dev Story. Tekken 6, at least 250-300 hours on my copy alone (and i play a lot at my friends house as well), def less than a dollar per hour of entertainment (or raging, depending on how you see it).
The problem with "apps" imo is thatyo buy them play for a few minutes and then just never touch them again. There are a handful of titles that i've spent more than just a few minutes on. Fruit Ninja, Game Dev and Sword &Poker is pretty much it so far as iphone games go for me. Fruit Ninja on the toilet, Game Dev because it was genuinely fun and Sword & poker while commuting :P

Inscrit depuis 7135 JoursSo i ended up picking one up, i know i shouldn't as the game catalog is limited and if nintendo is anything to go by, in 6 months it will be 100 bux cheaper...
But worst comes to worst i can return it for dead pixels or something...
Impressions:
Hardware is AAA, solid feel, polished joints, good feel in the hand, im not worried to drop it even when held with one hand. Played for 2 strait hours and IT DID NOT HEAT UP! considering the power in there, that's impressive.
Screen is top notch, oled is the way to go, and sony actually tried to balance the colors so they're not overly saturated like say, samsung galaxy sii (which i have, and is also based on oled tech) if you bring it to about 10 inches you will notice the pixels, but WHY would you hold it that close, very uncomfortable at that distance...
Qualms, the 2 analog sticks are small, they feel high quality, but if you have big thumbs, man, they feel really small.
DO NOT BUY uncharted, quite frankly, i tried ALL the demos, and NONE of the games yet are worth buying, they all have a rushed/port feel about them. And uncharted just plain sucks compared to the PS3 versions.
The OS is simple and fast, so good stuff there. Allows for some multitasking, mostly in the form of notifications.
It either DOES NOT, or I COULD NOT get it to work in portrait mode, which is too bad, cos that could make better use of its touchscreen for web browsing...
If sony wasn't run by dinosaurs, they would stick the PS Vita guts in tablets to both cut costs and to make awesome tablets, this thing has more horsepower than ANY tablet/smartphone i tried, and i just tried the new quadcore Transformer...
Sony makes good to great products, but no gamechangers, i returned my NEX 5n because it simply did not give me 800 worth of pictures (great camera, crappy controls and SHIT lenses), and the PS Vita is NOT worth 300 worth of gaming right now. i got a 4 gig mem card for 20 bux, WTF, they couldnt even package that in every box!?
I will keep fiddling with it for another week, but I think i will wait for a price drop or a refresh... At the same time, it feels really nice in the hand, and the screen is gorgeous... because the colors are quite balanced, it looks nicer than the Nexus despite a lower resolution.
This system has probably the most versatile controls after mouse and keyboard. I picture turn based strategy games on it working flawlessly, like xcom, civ, baldurs gate. platformers will be a joy. Add portrait mode and browsing/email will also work on it quite well
PS just tested, and you can play while charging it, i know that should be a given, but who knows, you would also think this being sony, the 2 cameras on the ps vita wouldn't suck, well they do, feels like the initial cellphone cameras of 2005
When all think alike, no one is thinking very much.

Inscrit depuis 7135 JoursTechnically the uncharted dialog sounds nice, BUT, its silly, drake keeps saying stuff that you should figure out just by playing, I always hated it when games spoon feed you information as if you're a 5 year old.
But I guess we have both sides of the coin, I'm not a fan of Uncharted and you are :P
250 + memory card for a system that does not have a must buy AA game yet is steep, the 3ds is 150 with 1-2 games bundled. But price perception is personal, and it's normal for sony to perform market layering and try to get as much profit at different price points.
I strongly believe in the PSV, I just think the system can vastly improve. But the back panel touch controls, gyroscope and dual analog should make it amazing once devs start thinking PSV from the ground up.

Inscrit depuis 7135 JoursYeah, there is a lot coming to it, I just think if i wait a few months I can probably save an additional 50 bux easily. Which would cover the 3 year warranty (which i did get ever since my x360 experience)
Uncharted on PSV is NOT AA.. AA, or AAA or gamechanger.. Must be a game that gets everything right both technically and gameplay.
Then again, i am very strict on AA badge, 1 or 2 games per year seem worthy IMO
LBP PSV looks AA. great graphics, refined gameplay with the PSV controls, use of front and back touchpanel to improve gameplay, not as a gimmick.
