The only way I see co-op fucking the game up is by making it shorter than it would have been were it a purely single player experience.

I don't think it's particularly difficult to see how a game's reliance on a human, "smart" partner would compromise a solo play experience where said partner is controlled by an infinitely less reliable AI one. Especially in a game where situations get as frantic as in this one, sequences where you need to cover the other person or she/he needs to cover you could easily be reduced to an excercise in frustration.

I know for a lot of players that could be shrugged off because you have your co-op partner on Live or locally ready for action, but some people just can't get a meaningful 15 hour campaign going with someone willing to invest that time.

So sure, I completely see the worry here, and most review outlets have said that the solo experience has indeed been given the short stick.

Yup, most of us were worried about that before. Designing a game around co-op was bound to make the SP suffer.

Its not just that though, I could probably find someone to complete the game in CO-OP but I dont' really want to, RE has always been about being alone and struggling to stay alive, having someone else there to back you up just breaks the immersion for me.

I find that for most games though, that having someone else there yapping down XBL just ruins the feel of a game for me.

It saddens me that so many games are being forced to take steps they shouldn't just to stay afloat.

Oh yes Jolli, I agree a 100% .... the games have moved Away from the formula since 4 although compared to RE4, RE5 seems to have gone WAY TOO FAR.

I have decided to rent this btw. I wont buy another resident evil if Capcom keeps this up. Go back to the bloody mansions where EVIL actually RESIDES, mr RESIDENT EVIL

Well that's true I guess. it doesn have to be a mansion really. What I meant to say is for Capcom to recapture the feel of being trapped someplace that was abondoned.

That feeling of opening a door not knowing what to expect in the dark. I am not asking for a load screen when opening a door, it's just going through doors in the recent resident evil lost its charms ...

I been watching footage on the net and it seem Sheva is a right C*** for wasting ammo and herbs in single player.

Damn it Capcom why did you force this on us in Single player !

Other than that the game looks pretty awesome, graphics are a mixed bag in places though.

Thats easier said than done when you have a crap load of enemies on your ass, I'm sure you are aware that the game doesn't pause whilst you enter the inventory screen like the old games, Even RE4 had that feature.

But then i guess its this way for CO-OP reasons.

There won't always be a crap load of enemies on screen. People bitched about it being too difficult in the demo as well, but really, wait for a lull in the action then manage the inventory.

I have tried so hard to stay away from any footage of this game to avoid any spoilers, but last night I gave in and watched a little bit of the second video. I think its safe to say that this game will be Legendary!

So far, I think I am going to rent this... I havent seen any of the media released in the past 2/3 weeks or so and I think it's turing out better this way. However, Amazon have this down for £30 and I have £20 in vouchers so I might jump in and get it.
