Me and a friend got the game yesterday and played through to chapter 5 in one sitting. That only took us 6 hours. So I can presume the rest will take us 2 hours at the most. I was hoping it would last a bit longer cause we were enjoying it so much. I've forgotten about any complaints I had with the movement and aiming. After playing Dead Space this feels fine. Also, the game looks freakin great. Possibly the best looking game on 360.

Were you playing on normal? It seems like it's more for single-player difficulty and veteran/professional are for co-op.

Well, this is the first RE5 I've played since the second game. We tried it on Veteran and kept getting owned in that room from the demo. You know the one where the big axe wielding dude comes through the wall. So we gave up...

Right. Fair enough. I was only asking because my roommate and our friend played through veteran on co-op, and they've both been playing video games since birth practically, and it still took them upwards of 12 hours I think to beat it on veteran.

Dude I can play games :p

I'm just not used to the movement/aiming in these situations where you are completely outnumbered. You have to wait for that big fucker to open the gate. Before that happens though there are about 10 of those regular "zombies". I really don't know how to manage a situation like that. Any advice would be appreciated.

Haha...I wasn't implying that you couldn't play games. I was merely prefacing my statement of how long it took them with the fact that they are avid gamers so others wouldn't hop in and assume they were noobs for taking that long.

I've yet to play it on veteran, so I haven't had a hard time yet at the spot you're speaking of. All I can say though is go for leg shots, then punch them when they are down as it'll usually knock a few of them back and creates space.

I'm still on it on veteran, played it on 3 evenings with a friend.. don't want to lie about the time it took us but I guess it should be about 12 hours by now and we're on chapter 5-2. Mind you we had no upgrades on our weapons right from the start, so it made things a lot more difficult ... and for the most part we didn't die that much. One of the toughest parts so far was that savage village with the 2 big guys with masks just before the oilfields. It took us about an hour just to clear that one.

That room you speak of is pretty simple. You need to keep the zombies out of the room for quite a while and when they move in you have to blow up the wall and head out untill that big guy destroys the fence. Then you run for the hills.

This is the first game in a long time that I'm going to have close to all the achievements on. I like it that much. Once I finish Professional difficulty I should have them all. I'm clocked in around 28hrs right now.

The AK47 is good, also either of the latter shotguns. Can't remember the name but the rounder one is better for range. I recommend getting a lot of gold and upgrading the first magnum so you can buy the S&W 500 - most powerful gun in the game. Infinite ammo on that and bosses will go down fast.

This game does a fantastic job of making your first play through last a good amount of time while simultaneously making the levels short enough that subsequent play throughs for money and achievements are quick and not at all boring. I'm definitely impressed in that respect.

The story at least makes sense and is told through kick-ass cut scenes.

It's pretty to look at but damn it's cheesy. Characters like Wesker that always had a bit of mystery surrounding them reduced to completely two dimensional villains from a saturday morning cartoon. Great game, i just wish the series would have ended in a better way (story wise), you know?

I also love how you can view all the cut-scenes in one long viewing once you have unlocked them.

Thats a feature i wish a lot more games would incorporate, the likes of final fantasy or any other fmv or cutscene heavy game would benefit from having the ability to view the cutscenes once the game is finished.

Don't see why they force you to play through games again just to see the cutscene or whatever, can be very annoying, another thumbs up for capcom.

I finished it earlier, I take it back, I hated the demo, I didn't enjoy RE4 at all.

It was a great game, I enjoyed it from start to finish. There were a couple of tricky bits, but mostly on the middle difficulty it was pretty easy. I didn't have any real trouble with Sheva after she became my Electric Rod carrying ammo store, though I did have to try an beat the final boss about 5 times because she kept getting killed. Unfortunately you actually need her to do something.

I like that by design you can use one of the pistols throughout the entire game, hell I killed the last boss using it, and it wasn't even fully maxed out. I even enjoyed the structure of the game, it worked with the infected being really slow. It encouraged you to aim. The normal Majini are pretty easy, but shooting the chainsaw guys in the eye, just so you stun them which then lets you combo them is great. You also need to aim a lot later on with some creatures that just eat bullets unless you Dead Space them, or aim around the armour.

I'm looking forward to 6 now.

Every game should do that. Not even one long viewing, but have them separated. I love this in games like Yakuza for example.
