There are people excited about it purely on the basis of it being pirates, I'm excited about it because of the prospect of sailing the high seas with a bunch of buddies and a lot of other stuff they've only spoken about. The ideas sound great, just waiting for confirmation on the execution.

A very informative listen-in to where they are at with Sea of Thieves, it's quite long, but I found the most important parts were at 12:17-13:45 and then again from 22:00 to about 28:00.
You can listen to the whole thing if you want, but those bits were what I found to be most relevant.
