Meh, looked quite polished, I'm guessing this is an strategic move, not necessarily meaning the game couldn't have been ready and well this year.

Well it did look a bit jerky at E3 with the now-trademark screen tearing that seems to plague every single Splinter Cell game. It'd be nice if that were to be cleaned up as a result.

Korn, I don't think games have to have similar themes to be in competition. I mean Assassins Creed 1.5 and Uncharted 1.5 are coming out tugging for essentially the same audience at that time. AC1.5 is Ubi's own property so they'll obviously want to give that as much space as possible. Especially after last year's Prince of Persia 0.5 being shoved aside in a most peculiar fashion.

GAME had a trade in deal where you could get new Far Cry 1.5 or Prince of Persia 0.5 for ONE used game, which probably speaks volumes about how poorly those ended up selling in those incredibly important first months.

neither do i, but i do think the only game that SC had to worry about was cod4.5, uncharted 2, despite it looking like the best game this year imo, wont get the recognition it may deserve simply becasue it's on the console with the smaller install base, an install based known for avoiding great games. AC2 wont have huge success since the first one put a LOT of people off with its repetition and bland gameplay. and outside of those games SC didnt have anything to worry about. sadly, cod4.5 is scaring a lot of people away from releasing in 09....so much so that 2010 is looking to be an INCREDIBLY expensive year.....well, for those people who dont rent anyway...lol

Out 23rd Feb 2010!! (For some reason watching that i got a Batman AA vibe :) )

If you think that the Mark and Execute style of espionage will make Splinter Cell too easy, prepare for a surprise. The level I played was definitely not for the weak. As you work through Conviction, the difficulty will continue to ramp up -- a fact that became readily apparent to me after I died a few times. The artificial intelligence is quite good (even if you'll laugh at the poor saps each time they fixate on your last known position while you cruise around behind them) and you won't be able to take a ton of damage like a superhero here. If you go in guns blazing, you can expect to watch Mr. Fisher to meet his maker in short order.

Fisher doesn't mess around.
Even with the option to mark enemies and then kill them in rapid succession, the game can be quite tough. You can only mark so many enemies and the later stages of the game will toss large groups of guards at you simultaneously. What's more, you only get to execute on your marks after you perform a hand-to-hand take down. When the level first opens, you'll have to come up with something cleverer than marking each enemy and then watching them fall. That something will usually involve getting your hands dirty.

Conviction is in the polishing and bug fixing stage now, which means it's getting pretty darn close to being done. That's a fact that was readily apparent in the demo given to me. The visuals look fantastic, straight down to the little open wounds that appear after Fisher interrogated that officer's face into a fender. The sound is mostly complete as well and the bits I heard did a great job setting the mood.

The music and graphics aren't the only great parts about Conviction, of course. I had my doubts going in to the demo -- the Mark and Execute style of gameplay seemed to take a little too much control out of the player's hands. Now that I've gotten my hands on it, I'm a believer. It's a challenge of planning and coordination just to get to the execute phase. Once you get a few slick kills under your belt, you start to see how rewarding the system is. It forces you to play intelligently and then pays back in full the hard work you put into the stalking. Though Fisher is much rougher and brutal in Conviction than in past Splinter Cell games, he's still most comfortable out of sight and out of mind.

Wow that trailer was great, looks like Sam has ditched his clean spy moves for some quick and dirty combo's....
Now If Ubisoft can only get their act together and give us another Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon (Atleast we know that one's coming) I will be happy!

Doubt that's the reason. The game has been delayed several times before. This is the first Christmas I am acutally not going to buy that many games (so I am glad splinter has been pushed to 2010). All the money is going to a PS3 (perfect timing for a busy-less christams!). Of course, less busy going by my taste in games (action adventures, (J,W)RPGs)
