So here is a question for you. If i buy the disc version, will i still have to use steam to play it? Cause if that's the case i might as well just get it on steam and tell the isc to fuck right off. The released requirements said something about requiring an internet connection for steam or something so i guess it will be needed?

You need to unlock the game on steam the first time, after that you can play it in offline mode if you want....

So yes, you'll play it through steam..

Yep, game uses steamworks as DRM, so you need steam if you buy the disk, or buy digitally in other store.

As Fire said, the internet needed is just to activate it the first time, then can play in offline mode.

I decided to buy on steam, 50€ is a lot of moneys. It's been quite a while since spent this much on a game, but i'm pretty sure will have my money worth. And couldn't find a decent price in usual digital stores i use. Could order box for nice price some stores (like play.com 38€), but i just don't want to wait :P

Midnight release fuck yeah. Going to spend all night trying make my character :P

Edit: For who interested the preload is 5.8GB...

I just canceled my preorder and bought Age of Barbarian instead. Nah. I just got it on steam. It's a few bucks extra but i can't be assed to get it on disc if i'm going to use steam anyway.

Can't wait and this is so weird to be honest, maybe Im getting old or something, but the fact that the hit reactions doesn't bother me anymore, there is this sounds to the hits that in my opinion is good enough, the atmosphere and the fact that you will be killing dragons and monsters and demons and shit is too good to pass.

The bad news for me is that I will get it till December :(, oh well I guess I give time to Bethesda to patch it if there is any bugs, considering I will buy it on the 360.

IMO combat looks way better than Oblivion, sure is still the same old stuff but somehow it looks meatier for a lack of better word.

Consider me hyped officially!

Check out this story some guy playing the game posted on NeoGaf(there's no spoilers in this, at least nothing we haven't seen in the trailers yet)

So I exit the dungeon. It's still night, so it's a bit hard to see. Almost immediately, I hear a now-familiar roar coming from in front of me. I see a dragon taking off from behind some trees, spewing ice at an enemy I can't yet see. I whip out my bow, take a few pot-shots at it, so it knows I'm there. As I sprint towards the dragon, a Giant comes lumbering out from behind some bushes, weaponless. I see him waving his fists at the dragon, as though he's challenging to a brawl.

Of course, the dragon doesn't care for any such tomfoolery, and keeps making bombing runs, spewing ice and both it and me. The giant's not hostile, he's just distracting the dragon, waiting for me to take it down with my bow. Unfortunately, I'm not that trained in the art of archery, so I only manage to take off a few bits of health before the dragon suddenly takes off and lands behind the trees.

At this point, the dragon's health bar starts depleting dramatically. I sprint forward, through the trees and come upon a group of giants armed with clubs. They've surrounded the dragon and are beating the shit out of it. When the thing's health bar is pretty low, it suddenly lifts off again and comes at me, spewing ice right in my face. At this point, I stow away my bow and take out my sword and shield. The dragon lands next to me and I start hacking away.

Now, dragons are pretty tough, even if they're wounded. Suddenly though, the dragon takes another massive hit, leaving only a sliver of its health bar. I swipe at it again. It lets out a roar and then slumps to the floor. As it starts burning up, I turn to my left, to take a look at my mysterious benefactor...

It's one of the giants armed with clubs, and he's just standing there, watching. The moment I absorb the dragon's soul he just seems to shrug, shoulders his club again, turns around and walks away.

Goddamn hilarious.

Got the game, installed it on 360, played it for a few hours.

Amazing art, visuals are okay (the textures DO disapears even clearing the cache as someone said. Needs a patch to fix this which I received which did nothing), amazing music.
3rd person animations are definitely improved and worth to play it like that if you want, which I am (with some first person now and then).

My Nord warrior tank with steel greatsword is awesome, love it!
Gonna focus on health/stamina and increase my two handed weapon perks and heavy armor perk, and some of the finishers are awesome to pull off.

Here is my character I made. I gave him the same beardstyle as myself (lol), good thing Bethesda did it right unlike Dragon Age were its exagerated and pointy lol

Only issue I got is why they decided to have the NPCs to speak american, its just corny.
We usually get the old english accent which we always get in movies which fits, but meh nothing gamebreaking though.

Anyways, gonna play it more a bit later :)

PS. Any character you seen in movies you like, for example from Game of Thrones, Beowulf, LOTR...etc. you can do it. They got all the proper hair and beardstyles for it anyways.

Wow team USA calm down... Generally when in a fantasy movie/game they go to a Nordic setting, the voice actors have an accent from the whole United Kingdom region... It's not critisism on the American accent, it's just something some people are used to..

I also rather have it that way, I mean it's better than having a guy with a Texan accent doing the voice for a Nordic character...

As FireWire said, its normal that when it comes to fantasy style or historic times, like Game of Thrones, LOTR, Rome, Gladiator, Spartacus, 300 having British/wales type of accents fits it more than having pure american accent.
Even Viggo who played Aragorn had to adjust his american accent to british accent, it just works and sounds better and he blends in with the rest of the cast.

Its just something we are used to after so many tv medias been doing it.

It's just something that has crept into this kind of stuff.. Like mostly dwarfs have a Scottish (sometimes Irish) accent.
