In a few days, Assassin's Creed Unity will be out in the open and we thought it would be the perfect timing to look back on the seven years that have gone by since the release of the first episode. Six games that we decided to capture one last time on PC to make these two retrospective videos. If you have ever wondered how far the series has come graphically, now is your chance.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is getting its first single player DLC this week and we had a chance to play three different versions of it (Xbox One, PS4 and X360). Freedom Cry is pretty ambitious in terms of topic, as it focuses on the conditions of slaves in the 18th century. You play as Adéwalé, Kenway's Quartermaster, as he discovers the shores of the French colonies of the Caribbeans. In terms of gameplay however, nothing new as this new content mainly features what AC4 already proposed, a few things having being adapted to the new context with the obligation to free the slaves who are imprisoned or ill-treated by their master. That being said, we enjoyed the new locations and the music by Olivier Derivière (who even went as far as to use real slave chants sung by a choir of Haitians). Other than that, it has the same flaws and strengths as the main game, which will either please or disappoint depending. Choose your side!

Single player DLC for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will hit PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and PC on December 17. Freedom Cry is set 15 years after Black Flag and stars an older Adéwale for 9 missions during which he will come face to face with brutal slavery. Developed by Ubisoft Quebec, this addon costs $9.99 unless you grab the season pass.

There have been so many trailers of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag before its release that it's hard to get excited when another one is revealed. That being said, today's video is really well done so it's hard to complain. Hopefully, we'll get news of the game's upcoming single player DLC soon, as Ubisoft hired quite an audacious artist to compose its soundtrack.

When Ubisoft announced that only the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag would get the 1080p patch, Xbox One - future - owners may have been a bit disappointed. Fortunately, the differences between the two versions are minor in the end and playing the game on Xbox One will be just as good an experience. On Microsoft's console, we did see a few more frame drops once in a great while and some NPC pop-up in town - even when close to the player -, but other than that, it's the exact same thing and rhum tastes just as good on either platform.
Note: Once again, keep in mind that the sound problems you can hear are due to our capture equipment, not the game.

GSY Video PS4

To be done with the 5 games we currently have on our PS4, here are three videos of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. We planned on showing more of the city, but an issue with the recording server forced us to cut early. So there you have it, the third time we actually show the same stuff from the game, only this time on PS4!

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be released in a few days on PC, and since Ubisoft sent us an early copy we of course captured a few videos. Unfortunately none of our usual PC capture software worked correctly with the game, so we could not use Miguel's monster PC and had to settle with my new gaming computer hooked up to my 1080p60 capture card. Sadly my quite powerful machine wasn't able to run the game at a smooth 60 fps with all graphics option enabled, so don't expect perfectly smooth videos.
Update: Switching the environments quality from very high to high made a huge difference for me, the game is now basically locked at 60 fps even in cities, with a very acceptable graphical downgrade.

Nvidia released a bunch of images of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag showing how incredible the game will look in 4k resolution. If you're too poor to afford a new TV and a powerful graphics card, then enjoy the images!

After so many years, the release of a new Assassin's Creed game has become a ritual. Every year around the same date in late October, we receive our copy of the new installment in the series and we discover what the multiple dev teams at Ubisoft have managed to improve, or sometimes break. This year is no exception to the rule with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, which we unfortunately haven't had time to complete due to the flu. Thus, all we could do was play the game for something like 8 hours to be able to tell you guys what we think about it. Videos and impressions are inside as usual.
Note: We've been told that a Day One patch would be released to correct some of the visual glitches which may appear when playing. We obviously captured the videos without the patch but we'll post some more if we notice any major improvements.

If the launch trailer and all the previous videos are not enough for you, here is a 9 minutes-long overview video of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag that shows a lot of things. So if you planned to buy the game you shouldn't watch this as one might think it reveals a bit too much.
