Nine years after its release, Assassin's Creed Syndicate is returning on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S with a free update that allows the 2015 game to run at 60 frames per second. The result isn't perfect, as the frame rate didn't seem flawless to us on PS5 Pro, but it's a nice move by Ubisoft, which has already updates older games in the series to run at higher frame rates. Let's hope that Unity will one day get the same treatment because it's clearly a game that deserves it as it had top-notch lighting when it came out. As for Syndicate, it sure didn't manage to live up to the same visual standards a few years later, but it's still an old-school Assassin's Creed that we enjoyed back then. Beware though, the game clearly shows its age at 4K on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X. Draw distances are pretty limited compared to what we can see in open world games today, pop-in and aliasing issues are also hard to miss, which proves that we've come a long way since then.

Here is another batch of GTX 1080 videos with this time Rise of the Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. As you'll see, maxing out these games does not always guarantee a steady framerate, especially when you start to go above 1080p. If you don't mind a few drops here and there, you can enjoy Lara's latest adventure at 1440p, but the rise in resolution (or video settings) is much more impactful on Ubisoft's title. Again, it means you will have to choose between image fidelity or resolution if what you care the most (and you should) is framerate.
Note: The settings at the beginning of the first TR video are maxed out at 1440p with SMAA. The settings at the beginning of the second are the same as those at the end of the first.

If you enjoyed Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, you'll be pleased to learn that a new additional content pack is out. The Last Maharaja is a new story arc through 10 new missions. Jacob and Evie Frye head back to London to help Duleep Singh fighting to reclaim his birthright as the last Maharaja.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate's first DLC has been available for a couple of days now and here are a few videos taken from the very beginning of the adventure. Set 20 years after the events of the main game, this new plot revolves around the mystery of the infamous Jack the Ripper, a dangerous serial killer who terrorized Whitechapel in the late 19th century. Evie Frye is back with a few wrinkles but she's still as agile as a cat, which is obviously very convenient to traverse the city. She's gained a few tricks with the addition of a fear mechanic she can now use to indimitade her enemies.

The addon-on content for Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is now available on PS4 and Xbox One, it will hit PC on December 22. 20 years after she left London, Evie comes back join forces with with Inspector Abberline of Scotland Yard to hunt down the serial killer.
Ubisoft released for the occasion an interactive 360° trailer. To view it on VR devices you will need a Samsung phone, VR Gear Samsung device, the 'Oculus' app and the 4K video inside.

Let's get back to Whitechapel on December 15 (a week later on PC), when Jack the Ripper add-on content will release for Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. It is set 20 years after the events of the main game and players will control Evie Frye to hunt the notorious serial killer.

As we supposed when we reviewed the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, you'll need a powerful PC if you want to play with all graphical options maxed out. To get a more or less steady 60 fps, we had to lower down the shadows to high (forget PCS and PCSS Ultra unless you don't mind frame drops), use MSAA2x+FXAA and HBAO+ (HBAO+ Ultra kills the framerate). Note: Contrary to what Mirillis Action! says, some cutscenes runs at 30 fps. Those are obviously videos and not real time.
