GSY Review PC PS4 Xbox One

While the Xbox One was already granted its own Fanatec steering wheel in 2015, Playstation 4 owners had to wait one more year to have a taste at a higher-end wheel. Since 2016, the German manufacturer has finally proposed a version of the CSL Elite which is officially compatible with Sony's console. For our first full-written review of 2017, we have decided to give you our detailed impressions on this (quite expensive) piece of hardware, with a bunch of off-screen videos showing the wheel in action and even a fully translated video review. Because it's a first on Gamersyde, we would love to hear what you think about this kind of article so we know if this review was well worth the efforts we've put into it. Enjoy!
Note: Many thanks to Tiz, who helped me make sure the translation was solid enough to share it with you.

GSY Video PS4

Available since 2013 on PC, Assetto Corsa is now ready for Xbox One and PS4 owners. You should however know that the game cannot hold a steady 60 fps framerate and suffers from tearing issues, which is a bit of a shame for a sim racer. Here are somes videos of the PS4 version so you can see what you can expect from the port.

Assetto Corsa is quite well known the PC gamers by now, but the consoles versions are still upcoming. So as a reminder after our E3 video, here are some new screenshots, along with the HQ version of a trailer released a few weeks ago.

GSY Video PS4

Assetto Corsa is playable on PS4 at Thrustmaster's booth, and Miguel went and recorded this video of a full Nurburgring lap.

This week, we have been granted some free new content for Assetto Corsa, including three cars and one fictional track called The Black Cat County. All videos were recorded in 1440p with Thrustmaster's T500RS. Quick reminder, don't forget that the Xbox One and PS4 versions will be released in June.

Today's surprise won't be Fallout 4 that everyone was expecting anyway, but the annoucement of a console version of Assetto Corsa. The game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.

GSY Video PC

Assetto Corsa is now fully available and since a DLC adding some new content (the iconic Nurburgring-Nordschleife and 10 new cars: lfa Romeo 4C, GTA and 155 Ti V6 ‘93, BMW M235i Race car, GM Corvette C7r GTE, McLaren P1 and F1 GTR, Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II and C9, Nissan GT-R NISMO 2014 GTR) was released this week, we've captured a bunch of 1080p/60fps videos. Although the game obviously proposes less content than titles like Forza, GT or PCARS, it is by far the best sim to date. With the addition of mods and some most probably new content by the developers, there is still plenty of things to keep busy. Hopefully, night and weather will be added later, but until then, the game plays incredibly well with a wheel. Kudos to Kunos Simulazioni for making replays with realistic camera angles as it is not always the case in the other games of the genre. If you like car driving game, this is the one to go for.
Note: Videos were captured with a driving wheel, in pro mode (no assists) and with manual transmission.

Trailer PC

After Project CARS, it is now Assetto Corsa's turn to shine thanks to JonZ who prepared a very nice trailer of the game. As usual, expect top quality in every possible department.

Video PC

Sim racers have two games to look forward to on PC and Assetto Corsa is one of them. It may not look as sharp as Project CARS, it may need some more work so the lighting looks better at sunset/sunrise, it may not sound as impressive as other games in the genre, it may even lack some content for now. However, its physics engine is one of the best out there, conveying excellent driving sensations that can only please die hard fans of the genre. We prepared quite a good number of 1080p/60fps videos for you to see, but to feel, you unfortunately need to purchase the game. Gameplay was captured using our Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S driving wheel.

Video PC

PC gamers have always been able to count on mods which usually allow to make the experience even more memorable, but in most cases, it requires game development to be officially finished. Kegetys, a talented Finish developer who's obviously a sim racing fan, added a Richard Burns Rally track to the promising Assetto Corsa and we finally had the time to capture a few videos for you guys. Of course, you can't expect this track to be as sharp-looking as you'd come to expect these days, but the photo-realistic look of the environment is still there, like in the old days. As for driving sensations, it feels just great, though also quite tough since there's no copilot nor map to help reach the finish line. Don't mind our safe driving as we really were scared to ruin the car after the first turn. It might not look that impressive as a spectator, but believe us, we had to hiold the controller very tight during this 7 and a half minute race behind the wheel of a Lotus Evora GTE.
Note: Make sure you deactivate motion blur as it causes the screen to strangely shake.
