Video PS4

There is no denying that the graphical and technical face lift of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition shows improvement over the old generation version of the game. More surprising is the fact that some scenes have been censored, among which the passage where Lara finds herself literally bathing in a pool of blood. It seems that the amount of blood has been toned down overall, which is odd considering that you still encounter corpses whose limbs have been cut off, and Lara still savagely stealth kills her enemies. The game is still 18+ so we can wonder why such a decision was made, why the team behind the port didn't respect the artistic direction of the original game. It's not that it makes a huge difference in the end, but it could come as a surprise for those who completed the game last year and would be willing to try this not so definitive after all edition.

GSY Review PS4 Xbox One

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will be released at the end of this week on Xbox One and Playstation 4 and what better place to compare both versions than Gamersyde? We've prepared an avalanche of 1080p videos encoded at the usual bitrate and we encourage you to download them to really know what to expect. You'll also find a good number of screenshots (PS4 version only as Blim didn't have time to take any on Xbox One). As you'll see, the game looks even better now (though it'll be old news for PC gamers I guess), and even though framerate isn't locked on either console, it's smoother than on Xbox 360 and PS3, especially on PS4 which clearly benefits from more images per second. That being said, this Definitive Edition should mainly interest those who missed their date with the new Lara Croft last year. As for the others...
Update 2: New videos from the Xbox One versions are up, this time trying (and most likely slightly failing) to match the brightness of the PS4 videos.

Trailer PS4 Xbox One

Square-Enix released the launch trailer of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, avaiable very soon everywhere on PS4 and Xbox One.

Developer Diary PS4 Xbox One

You obviously all know that Tomb Raider is coming to next gen consoles next week with a bunch of improvements to make it the best version to date. The following video details all the new effects which have been added, including Tress FX, but you should be aware that, although both versions will run in 1080p, they will be limited to a 30 fps framerate. It's not a big surprise though, considering that even with a good rig, Tress FX made it quite difficult to reach steady 60 fps on PC. We should have gameplay videos to share with you soon.
Update 2: Apparently, the PS4 version will run at an average of 60 fps, which means the framerate isn't locked. X1 will run at 30 fps.

Trailer PS4 Xbox One

Formally revealed during the VGX, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 28. This new edition features the TressFX technology, better textures, native 1080p and other enhanced stuff plus all the DLC released. Get the details and trailer inside.
