Video PS4

There is no denying that the graphical and technical face lift of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition shows improvement over the old generation version of the game. More surprising is the fact that some scenes have been censored, among which the passage where Lara finds herself literally bathing in a pool of blood. It seems that the amount of blood has been toned down overall, which is odd considering that you still encounter corpses whose limbs have been cut off, and Lara still savagely stealth kills her enemies. The game is still 18+ so we can wonder why such a decision was made, why the team behind the port didn't respect the artistic direction of the original game. It's not that it makes a huge difference in the end, but it could come as a surprise for those who completed the game last year and would be willing to try this not so definitive after all edition.

Now unless it 's some kind of bug, it concerns only some versions of the game (European one only?).

im not seeing what you mean here.. she is completely covered in blood when she walks out of the pool as she was before, perhaps you mean because the blood fades away faster? I wouldn't really call that censorship. I havent noticed any occasion where the game seemed censored at all compared to the PS3 version..

Edit - Just a note because I noticed this, having an alternate costume will affect how some story specific maps (non dynamic) display on her.. you need to leave on the default outfit for some maps like bruises and cuts and blood from falling into that pool to display.

That's a shame. censoring blood is just so lame. This saddens me for my Euro peeps.
But here in the United States we censor boobs like it's a menace...I hate censorship.

probably due to very specific EU countries too (looking at you germany) since the devs like to just lump us all together for cost reasons and put all languages on the disc. if there was a UK version, and a french version etc etc, then i'd imagine they'd get by without any censored content.

That was a major problem I had with this game ever since it was shown at the trade shows... way too much blood and traumatic injury that seemed like torture...then she in pain magically makes it out of an impossibly hard to escape scenario even for a person who is physically fit...ahh videogames but I bet there were a lot of fools calling it "realistic right"

When you happen to fall in a river of blood, realism calls for a few traces on the character and her clothes. Don't try this yourself at home to prove a point though.
