Video PC PS4 Xbox One

To our surpise, EA sent us a 5 GB video of Anthem that we can now share with you all. Sadly, there are French subtiles in this version, but we'll try to find one without them as soon as possible. It's also "only" 1080p, but it's still better than the usual "nothing" :) Until then, enjoy the commented footage!

Very bland...looks like it will give Destiny a run for its money on the disapointment stakes.

All they demoed was combat. It could be bland but I don't think I've seen enough of the game. It could also be the good Destiny for all we know. It'd be cool if someone else delivered on Destiny's promise.

good coop potential, I really hope it doesn't bomb. Bioware need a win with this one.

This looks more attractive than Destiny to me.
If they fulfill the open, dynamic world aspect in the way Destiny 1 was supposed to have originally been, they're gonna be halfway there.

But since it's a coop looter shooter people can't really go in expecting Mass Effect / DAO level of storytelling, it's just not possible without going full single player.

True. I think this is Destiny style story telling or The Division style (about the same concept).
For me it looks fantastic. But I hope it doesn't become a grindfest and there are distinct areas (not all jungle style). If EA gives them enough time to really flesh it out, this could be a winner.
Did this run on PC or X1X? It looks really sharp.

Just looks boring to me. And after playing and hating destiny and the division i’m seeing way too many similarities here. I think I heard them say there won’t be Arial combat in skies (as in dog fights) and no underwater combat at all, which seems like huge wasted potential. My main worry is the objectives though. These sorts of games are known for repetitive, menial, busy work quests and i’d be shocked if this game breaks away from that formula. I can imagine you’ll go into the hub, some character will send you across the map to kill 12 of a certain creature and return for a reward. And that basic template will be used a hundred times more. But I guess we’ll see soon enough. I’m sure it’ll succeed either way. The division and destiny managed to and they were shit.

Digital Extremes more than delivered on Destiny's promise with Warframe. By a very wide margin. Unfortunately, almost no one outdide the community knows this because it gets little to no coverage at Gaming sites.

Case in point, this past weekend was TennoCon 2018, where Digital Extremes showed a lot of new and great content coming in the near future, but hardly any Gaming site posted the news.

As for Anthem, it looks very good, though this is just a slice of combat and these Javelins are only at level 30, with one at level 1, and only 1 legendary weapon in at least 2 of them, so they don't have all the abilities unlocked and all the best gear.

Still, I found the boss fight to be a very "bullet sponge fest", even at the end when the Colossus Javelin used its special ability, it only dealt around the same amount of damage as the Colossus' Rocket Launch Barrage.

Perhaps the boss has so much health because as you level up and get more powerful, they don't want you to destroy it too fast, but I'm not a fan of "bullet sponge" enemies/bosses. There's still time to do a lot of balancing and hopefully they reach a good balance between challenge and the time it takes to kill enemies/bosses.

Also, for a Online game that's only 7 months away from release, BioWare has shown very, very little of it. Which certainly doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, since they did the same with Mass Effect: Andromeda and everyone knows how that turned out. Cautiously optimistic - more cautious than optimistic.

Is Warframe known for blending narrative into an online grindfest? Because if not, no it hasn't. Bungie are storytellers, and that's the promise that Destiny failed to deliver on. Basically everyone who knows what Warframe is knows that it's "like" Destiny. But I get it. You like Warframe.

Yes, you just described Warframe quite accurately - in more ways than you can imagine. Digital Extremes has created a lot of story and lore in the past 3 years, and they are continually adding more. Last month they released their 22nd Story Quest, and the 3rd in their mainline arc - the next one is gonna start a new arc and possibly the biggest one for many years to come. And these are just Story Quests, they keep adding more and more story, characters and lore with major updates. Then there's comics, Story trailers, etc.

Actually, everyone who knows both games and when they launched, knows that Destiny is "like" Warframe. Destiny even copied a lot of stuff from Warframe, like the sentinels.

I don't like Warframe, I love Warframe. But I'm also one of the fiercest critics when it comes to criticizing the game. I often get into discussions with friends that let their love for the game kinda of blind them to both its shortcomings and the developer's.
