Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

One can't say that the release of the PC version of Dead Island went unnoticed this week. For some odd reason, it seems a dev version was accidentally released and it took a few days for the game to be patched. It did not prevent players from complaining about the fact that it was merely just a console port, with no standard options like V-sync, anti-aliasing, etc. Using your Nvidia or ATI pannel can help fix such details, editing the game's video file but that's not particularly user friendly. Despite all this, the game is still a lot of fun and it is full of content. My biggest grudge is with the pop-up issues that feel completely outdated. Other than that, the game is clearly worth it to anyone who likes the survival horror genre. Here is a 1080p video in 60 fps (minus a few hiccups due to Fraps) to give you an idea of what to expect.

Well, even at max setting, I still find the antialiasing a bit annoying at times. As for V-sync, you're right (like I said in the news) but I still think it's not normal it can't be done directly in the game's menu. :)

I really like the game too and I also think it looks great.

It's weird when you engage a 3rd party V-sync, the game seems to slow down a lot even though I'm getting 60 frames. Still to me it's better than the screen tearing if I don't have V-sync.

nah, a steady frame-rate is crucial... i can live with some image rip now and then.

I'll pay attention to the aliasing, because I never noticed it as annoying.
V-sync should have been in the game. I agree.
Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit then. :)

This game has been a pleasant surprise for me, i got it because i wanted some braindead game that i could play in short bursts when feeling bored, but now im completely hooked by the co-op mode.
The perfect way to describe it is a mix between left 4 dead and borderland, once you get into it its deeper than it sounds.
It is a pretty rough game with some jarring technical issues, the plot is forgettable and the voice acting is cringeworthy, but all of these problems are more than compensated by the excellent gameplay and the fun quest structure.

This game is amazing. So much fun. I really enjoy the analog combat mode. Makes the combat a bit more interesting. Seems like you just can't join to Co-op games with dudes that are further in the campaign mode? Kinda lame.

Oh and game runs really nicely.

Driver forced AA isn't as efficient as one set up inside the game. The Game won't be GOTY candidate but is still a bit of fun.

BTW I tried some co-op today and every time other player talked to quest dudes, game skipped the voice overs after couple words. Also I didn't have time to read texts :S Does this happen to others? It's annoying me. I know voice overs and stuff isn't that hot but I want to know whats happening :P

Glad to know it's as strong in singleplayer, unlike Borderlands which was really boring alone.

Loving the game, felt i was getting a bit of frame slow down on various part's of the map until Fraps put paid to that showing i was running at a constant 60.

Overall it's a great game from what i have played of it.

A co-op between mates the best option then? Was thinking of getting this for something to do between now and Rage but if its not got a strong co-op I don't know if I will.

I caved in and picked this up. Amazon had it for $10 dollars off. I've put a few hours into it and I'm having a great time in this would-be paradise. It, so far, gives a decent illusion of being open. I love kicking the zombies off high ledges or across tables or into swimming pools. I'm playing as the Asian chick, she has a mean jump kick. The game has some major pop-in issues I hope they patch.

IMO play with people you know that wont be assholes and skip the scenes, so you dont lose out on the story.

exactly, i really had a much more enjoyable time with people I knew instead of strangers who would get to every quest/side quest NPC before me (since they all rushed) and skip through the dialog. strangers give you no time to explore the game, as there seems to be some unspoken agreement that both players are suppose to keep up with each other. thats not what this game is about, and if you decide to play with strangers you're going to miss out on a lot of the best parts of this game.

Just started playing it yesterday, amazing game so far, highly entertaining and realistic, with great graphics. Recommend to every fan of open world (well, somewhat, it's pretty big) zombie games.
