This game is certainly looking good. A few months back I wouldn't dream of buying it since I'm not that much of a fighting game fan but everytime I see new videos I think to myself that it looks darn good! I hope Team Ninja puts in a marketplace option so we can buy more clothes/accessories for the characters!

Hey WuffyX, Itagaki actually said there will be Marketplace costumes and avatars and chat room themes for DOA 4, so it will use the Marketplace.

I cannot wait to play this upon many other X360 games.

Thanks for the vids Blim.

I really like DOA 4, but Next-Gen?
Hmm...the market level looks great but this isnt a huge step forward from doa ultimate.

Its the new character in Ninja Gaiden Black costume, does look very cool!!
I love DOA but I cant see anything that makes me feel this game is worth calling a sequel seems more like DOA3 Ultimate (i'll buy it just to play as Jann Lee though). I have yet to see any video that show any cool environment interactions with the players e.g no demontration of how the character counters the on coming car on the vegas stage. Anyway for a 50% complete game theres still plenty of room for improvement....I hope.

What do you expect dude... the gameplay is only as good as the PLAYERS. These are the scrubbiest players to ever grace the earth, and have NO clue what they are doing. The high level play will be shown to you the minute you get on live and get scraped 100-0. Then you will be like... wtf is going on. Then you will notice the extreme difference.

I noticed in the Spartan pics that it looked like they were using motion blur + AA during gameplay shots--did they change their mind about this? Or was the effect just added for...effect?

I'm a fighting game nut, and I understand the concern about how motion blur could effect the game at it's highest level of play--but I've also always thought of DOA as atleast as much style as it has substance (in most cases, it oozes way more style than it has substance--atleast in the past)..I think it would be nice if they included the option to turn it on/off in gameplay. Not expecting it..just thought that it was odd to see it in what looked like gameplay shots--suppose they could have been from spectator mode.

Also--The newest Madden shots--are they using DOF and AA together finally? They looked pretty slick.

Motion blur is not during STANDARD gameplay. There is a camera blur mode that they use for all the pictures. Just download one of the videos. There is no blur. Blur only comes for a split second on certain high counter blows (when you interrupt someone who is trying to throw you, or hit them while they are in the air), so it never interferes with gameplay.

Errr... they did, through 1up.com about a month ago. It is a high def exclusive gameplay footage trailer. Not a real trailer, just about 5 minutes of them demonstrating a LITTLE of the gameplay: http://www.1up.com/do/download?cId=3140417

Next-gen ? Hell no.
All these bad looking pics recently (I'm not talking only about DOA4)... God... What's wrong with developers ? Can't they use X360 hardware properly ?
I _REALLY_ wanted to buy an X360 at launch, I think I'll wait a year or two for things to clear up... This is no next-gen, sorry

Errr... duh... pics can never tell half the story of what it should look like on an hdtv due to compression. Why don't you head out to EBGames or Walmart and check em out live for yourself.

why do u think this is pretty much the only launch title running at 60 frames a second? probably because its not as graphically impressive as it could be. i would personally wait for DOA5 if i wanted one, and thats only if they actually improve something and not just add a new level and character.

oh i figured out why it doesnt look all that "next gen", do u see any 3d texture work

Err... it ISNT. CoD2 is also at 60 fps. And because it is only 2 people on screen, duh. If the designer doesn't want to add that stuff to his characters, that is his choice. He opted for the anime look, and did just that. The textures are deeper though, even on the skin. You have to watch the ACTUAL hi-def videos though to tell. Blim's camera has the colors really screwed up here. Check out gamespot. They have direct feed gameplay vids that look way better than Blim's.

Edit: And for those of you that don't play the game deep enough to know what kinds of things were improved? : http://www.doacentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37...

And most of that is gameplay. You guys base everything off of random scrub play. There is so much improved in this game that you guys don't even know. We at DOA central, had one of our good players play it at the conventions. He is a high level doa player that works for game daily, and we have a lot of his impressions up too.

Artistic approach is the difference between this game and Gears of War. I like the way DOA4 looks. GOW has a better looking art approach to it. As far as in motion I like DOA4. BTW GOW has very few colors in it mostly earth tones. The inly vibrant color I noticed in GOW was red from fire. Two different game with two different approaches. I guess most ppl want all games to look the same, that would get very boring after a while.

No I mean a proper trailer, showing off the game new innovations ie, character detail, moves, fighting styles, level design, lighting etc like the DOA3 E3 vid did years ago - that had to go down as one of the most impressive trailers I have ever had the pleasure of vitnessing.

Also annoys me too see every character having the same fall/get up animation. And its about time we saw some proper blocking (style dependant of course!). Blocking animation has hardly moved on from the static boxing guard animation seen in Street Fighter 2, and that was over 10years ago!!

Believe me... once you see it live, you will have no doubt that it is next gen, as you will with pretty much EVERY 360 game. I'll keep on repeating: watching these videos and screens will NOT even come close to representing what you will experience live on an HD or (like me) an HD capable pc monitor.
