Lol, that revenant statue is kinda cool. I feel bad for actually wanting it, as i generally hate these sort of collectors boxes. Also i should learn from past mistakes as the statuette from Witcher 3 looked like complete shite.

It better have proper oldskool PC online support.. Meaning deathmatch on dedicated servers (please let us host our own) and a serverbrowser etc.. And maybe a mapeditor aswell so the community can make it's own custom maps again? Thank you!

Map editor is there out of the box. It's called 'Snapmap'. Whether it's any good remains to be seen, but it certainly appears to be very intuitive.

More than likely we'll see a complete rendition of the original two games in next to no time with the modern engine, which is great. The game should be very moddable, although I'm not sure about enemy models. The damage they take seems to be very dynamic, so that could possibly pose some problems with custom meshes.

Just play UT instead of this console game. SnapMap is a joke. There's no mod support.

Very moddable? It's the first id software game ever without an SDK. It's the opposite of very moddable.

Im mainly interested in this for the single player. Im hoping for a sort of painkiller type crazy action romp. But well see when telease comes around i guess.

Mapmakers on consoles, what a joke. I imagine Inreal is the way to go if you want to make maps for an arena shooter.

I only saw the old trailer where everything was grey. But the action looked alright in that trailer.

Some things are blue now. There are a disproportionate amount of WIP shells to finished maps.. but they're all playable and there are something like 18 DM maps in rotation on most servers. The prototype is very playable. It's getting easier to recommend. Visual development is only complete on a small handful of maps.

There are very few players currently too but there's always enough to get a few servers going.

Oh.. I think the action in the doom footage I've seen so far looks pretty dull personally. A lot of single engagements and a lot of cinematic melee bs.. I'm really skeptical but it's hard to deny the appeal of the monsters and the guns and stuff.

I feel like Machine Games set the bar pretty high with Wolfenstein. People love that.

Reflex looks promising for an arena shooter.

The newest trailer of Doom makes it look like it only consists of "cool" scripted takedowns. Hope the trailers gameplay doesn't reflect the final game.

I really hope they decide to revive Quake at some point. The thing i'm not huge on in UT is the weapons. Q3 just had a simple set of weapons, each with it's own clear function and niche, and it felt pretty straight forward.

Ah well, what little i've played of UT so far has been fun still, so it's all good i guess.

That guy is flying and he has no ass. There are other concerning things too, but I can't get past the fact that he's got no ass.

The weapons are one of my favorite things about UT. I love that most of them have more than one function and I feel like they're mostly straight forward. They're sorta similar archetypes as the Quake weapons. I think it has one of the best shotguns and sniper rifles in the genre. I really love their approach to movement too. It's not quite as fast as Quake (not even excluding strafe jumping), but once you implement advanced movement (dodge/slide spam) it becomes very fast and very fluid.

I just don't have much confidence in id anymore. They don't even know how to handle Quake Live. I'm putting all my eggs in the Unreal basket at this point. I feel like it has the best shot at offering a legitimately solid, legitimately oldschool arena experience. I actually feel like it's pretty close to delivering that already and it's mostly a bunch of untextured WIPs.

Reflex does look cool. Very fast game. It's audience is as small as the UT prototype :|

I'm excited about this. But its exclusively for the single player portion. Playing the beta made me lose faith in that element of it tbh. Boring would be the word i'd use to describe it.
