About Gamersyde
Gamersyde is a commercial multiplatform web portal based in Europe, with hundreds of thousands of visitors each month from all over the world. We cover both handheld and video games platforms and the site has grown into one of the biggest gaming sites in the continent. We are able to offer fast news delivery and HD content from the upcoming games, and one of the greatest and friendliest gaming communities in the world. The HD content we provide always respects the original resolution and framerate of the games we capture, making Gamersyde the one and only place to get 1080p/4K/60fps videos with high bitrate. At a time when Youtube's subpar video compression has become the norm for most people on the Internet, we refuse to give up quality without a fight. We now also produce HDR videos, which can only be enjoyed by those who own compatible televisions. The content we produce is obviously not free of use should you want to upload our videos on your own website or YouTube channel.

I thought the church video was kinda funny though.
Without seeing anything from the game, it's hard to comment, but I was really hoping Far Cry 5's setting would be the Wild West - we all know there's not many Wild West games, unfortunately - or something more exotic, like in Victorian London, a setting which isn't used much in games. Another one is Medieval Japan or China, which could be great with the Far Cry formula.
But there were many more exotic settings suggested by Ubisoft itself in a survey sent a to a lot of Far Cry 4 players back in 2014:
- Remote Alaska about surviving extreme wilderness
- Futuristic, sci-fi setting on another planet
- Vietnam war during the 1960s
- Cocaine trafficking jungles of Peru
- Where you can fight against or join vampires
- Spaghetti Western style set in the late 19th century Americas
- During a zombie outbreak
- Blood Dragon 2: A sequel to Blood Dragon with more Rex Power Colt
- Mad Max style post-apocalyptic world
- Present day on a Jurassic Park style island of dinosaurs
- Based on the world of Shangri-La from Far Cry
Of those, my pick would be the "Futuristic Sci-fi on another plannet" setting, since it could be like a spiritual sucessor to what Prey 2 was shaping up to be. Another great one is the "Jurassic Park" setting, which could be like a Turok game. I would love a Blood Dragon 2 as well, loved the first one. And a "Mad Max style post-apocalyptic" setting could be an interesting take with the Far Cry formula.
Without knowing anything more about the game, it's hard to draw a conclusion, but if given the choice between a modern period in a US setting - which has been done to death in games, specially FPS ones - and a far more exotic setting, I would go the exotic route always.
Also, this could help bring new people to the Far Cry franchise and make people who got tired of the formula interested again if setting and gameplay were appealing enough - for example, in a Medieval Japan or China setting, one might rely more on melee weapons than just bows, which could give a different enough experience to the standard Far Cry one.
It could be like a Chivalry: Medieval Warfare combat system if they did it right, and they could use the help of the For Honor team to help further develop the combat. They could even remove bows entirely and only give throwing spears, daggers and darts for long range combat. But sure, present day Cops and Robbers it is, which as of right now, doesn't sound very appealing or something that could help bringing back people who got burned out of the franchise.
