Video Xbox 360 PS3

Ubisoft decided to unveil Reflections' Driver: San Francisco at E3 and presented us with a live stage demo during their conference. Still rather poor on a graphical standpoint, the game runs smoothly and the city seems to be full of life, but what was a bit unexpected and, for some, disappointing, was the choice to include a new feature called Shift. Thanks to it, Tanner can switch cars whenever he wants during a chase sequence, much like Agent Smith would with a passer-by in the Matrix. Odd to say the least, but it can all be explained by the fact that Tanner actually is in a coma and everything that happens in the game is a product of his unconsciousness. We will need to see more to see if this one is a win but we are all holding our breath for a great Driver game.

cant wait to see their attempt to pull off the story for this. They should just dumped the story all together and have the whole game an open playground. Or had it as a seperate mode to kill time in.

The minds obviously a fickle creature though.. it will accept that you're given the ability to matrix into the body of any car.. unless it's the car you happen to be chasing. Pffft

Yeh, was pretty excited when i first watched the video, and then they mentioned the whole shift gameplay mechanic which completely killed it for me.

Interesting, i guess they wanted to do something different compared to other races out there, hence the shifting feature! Only time (demo/reviews) will tell if the decision was a good'un or not!...

To me, it just seems like a lazy way to avoid allowing players to exit the car.

I know Driv3r was poor, but it was more to do with bugs than the entire on-foot section.

the shift mechanic isnt bad on it's own, kinda cool in fact, takes out the utterly crap on-foot element of driver 2 and 3 which has always been the low point of the series, and instead lets you switch cars quickly and easily. it's the fact they've tried to incorporate the idea into the "story" with the utterly ridiculous coma idea. if it was just a gameplay mechanic, and it ended there, it would be fine imo. but hell, this is ubisoft, the destroyer of franchises...it's hardly surprising they're fucking things up. doesnt exactly help that driver 3 fucked things up pretty bad to begin with.

For me, one of the weird parts is that you can drive a Delorean. The same model as used in Back to the future.

They should have just re made Driver 1 where although driving recklessly, you still had to take care of your car because if you didn't complete the mission in your current car, you were screwed.
This creates tension and a love for your ride unlike this weird shift junk

dunno, the hole shift thing might be very superficial, but it doesn't really scare me away from the game. What I'm really after is that feel the cars had in the original. Just the right body roll and weight which made the Driver1 racing so darn special. If Ubisoft can nail that and give me some fun gameplay and story, then I'm hooked. Shift feature or not...

This coma thing sounds awful. I never did like the Driver games, mainly because I didn't really find the driving any fun. Frustrating, yes, but fun, no.

I'd rather play Stuntman.

The whole coma thing is bat-shit crazy to be honest. It's silly and really stupid. BUT if the game is good, and the driving is fun and the missions are interesting, the coma nonsense doesn't really matter. Just make a good game with good gameplay and Twilight Zone retardness will be forgiven.

Graphics are average, ima guess the tail light idea is so you can track the car easier on your screen..

This company is always fail at graphics and good handling :p
