Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

Ubisoft introduces the savages of Far Cry 3 through this new trailer. We already know that Vaas is a merciless psycho but there's another twisted and ruthless savage who goes by the name of Buck.

Character Profile – Vaas Montenegro

Vaas is an unpredictable, psychotic, violent, merciless, coked-up pirate warlord and slave trader who kills purely for entertainment. No one is safe when Vaas is around. Not his friends, and certainly not his enemies.

This murderer was once destined to inherit the power of his people, the Rakyat. His sister, Citra, rose to lead the entire tribe. Vaas was groomed to become the most powerful warrior on the island. But, instead, he shirked his responsibilities, fleeing the tribe, right into the hands of Hoyt Volker. Hoyt, the principal drug-runner and slave trader operating along the Pacific Rim, had selected Rook Island as his base of operations. He saw murderous potential in Vaas, and promised him wealth and drugs. Now Vaas is Hoyt’s most brutal enforcer. His favorite pastime? Kidnapping innocents, accepting ransom money, and selling them as slaves.

To those who serve under him, Vaas is a vicious and unpredictable boss. To those who dare cross him, Vaas is a lethal adversary. He’s an expert shot and a ferocious hand-to-hand warrior; his body bears the scars of savage battles deep in the jungle, which he wears with pride. But it is his explosive unpredictability that makes him so dangerous.

Early in the story, Vaas and his pirates capture Jason Brody and his friends. Vaas taunts them, explaining that he’s eager to see how much money Jason’s parents will pay for his return. But then things go south. Jason escapes. Enraged that a ‘pretty boy’ would dare challenge him, Vaas screams: “If the jungle doesn’t eat you alive, I will.” And thus begins a lethal rivalry between the two men. Jason does whatever he can to save his friends and escape, while Vaas develops a psychotic fixation on killing Jason once and for all.

But through all of Vaas’s murderous rage, glimpses of his remaining humanity can be seen. Lurking underneath the raucous façade is a disturbed exile, one running from a past that haunts him. He displays a twisted sense of humor that defies categorization. He is real. Unpredictable. Dangerous. Despicable. And entirely unique. He is Vaas.

Character Profile – Buck

On an island marked by depravity and violence, Buck may be the most depraved and violent of all. He lives by his own rules – feeding his own insatiable, twisted desires.

His story began in Australia, where he joined the armed forces at an early age. But his commanders quickly discovered his perverse addiction to inflicting pain, and dismissed him. He fell into mercenary work, leading to a contract with Hoyt Volker, the South Pacific’s most notorious drug-runner and slave trader. Hoyt realized that Buck’s ferocious combat skills and unrelenting brutality could be of use. Since then, Buck has answered to no other. When Hoyt needs a kill, Buck gets the call.

Buck is a man of distinctive tastes. Violent torture is his favorite diversion, and he takes a perverse pride in his stomach-churning assaults. “Around here,” he says with a savage leer, “we eat what we kill.” His outsize Bowie knife is never far from his grasp – or from a terrified victim’s flesh.

Jason Brody first encounters Buck in a desperate search for his kidnapped friend, Keith. Jason learns that Buck has purchased Keith, and bargains for his safe return. Buck makes Jason a deal: if Jason can find and deliver a priceless ancient knife, Buck will let Keith go. Jason agrees, and embarks on a dangerous quest to recover the knife and present it to Buck. But Buck isn’t just holding Keith hostage, Keith has become so much more. Buck is only human after all.

Jason and Buck will have to compete for who is the better man, and only one will emerge victorious. And Buck doesn’t fight fair, he plays for keeps.

I can't stand the "vass" character. He's just some punk kid who thinks it's cool to be crazy.

Day one!

Incredible looking game, maybe the best looking game on consoles to date, not including Crysis 2/Uncharted 2/GoW3, those are kings.

How do you mean? It looks more FarCry 2 to me. I thought FarCry 1 wasn't that great. Especially with all the stupid monster shit.

Ye agree, it started awesomely but then BOOM monsters out of nowhere, wtf...
I'd by far prefer a game like Far Cry 2, than like first Far Cry. I practically LIVED in Far Cry 2.

But the aliens/monsters are what ruined far cry and crysis 1/2.

LOL no, Crysis didnt get ruined by aliens and sci fi elements. It got ruined by poor alien enemy designs. With Far Cry I can understand why, but not Crysis.

it wasnt the design of the aliens in crysis 2 that ruined it. it was the way they fought. they where boring to fight, generally quite retarded, and basically stopped you playing how you wanted to play. it's why the first half of crysis 2 was barable, and the second half was absolute tosh. you can be sci-fi without aliens. and crysis did that well when you where fighting humans. not so well when you where fighting aliens.

That is what i meant, the way they were designed interms of combat, it was boring. They were basically agile superman armored enemies were headhots were critical.

Crysis 1 wasent nearly sci fi enough until we the island froze over and we got to see them showing up alot more. Anything before it was just Far cry + superarmor thats it.

I still say Crysis should be off planet and go somewhere else that isnt Earth lol.

But interms of Far Cry, FC2 seems to be what FC2 should have been. Same vibe of FC1 but as a proper sequal. I just hope its a good game overal, but from the looks of things, it seems to be very great.

Yup, Crysis 2 was bearable right until the alien sections. I've also went back to play Crysis 1 and was horribly surprise how much the shooting was generic, people praise that game because of its graphic, not its mechanics. Its definitely a game made for PC only though, If youre going to get 3, it must be on pc. The current gen struggles heavily on consoles, especially PS3 (The version I played and finished).

Hopefully they can improve the gameplay mechanics in 3. As 2 was an improvement on 1, so things looks bright.

Crysis was and is much better game thna Crysis 2, but gunplay felt better in Crysis 2. Crytek dont know how to work on PS3 thats why its lower res than 360 version. I have zero doubt Crysis 3 will be any change in resolution.

Gameplay, it will be more or less like Crysis 2 but maybe more path options and the awesome bow and its various arrows (the way i intend to play it).

But if you have a strong Pc that can manage Crysis, then yes, get it on PC, if not...well you got no choice but to go with consoles thats a given.

I'm with you on this. Dispite its problems, Far Cry 2 was a great game in my book. And this looks to be far more better. Can't wait!

I think the game is running at 20fps at all times with some dips to the single digits more often than not, the pop in is worse than Rage and thats saying something but Im still loving it a lot.

Crysis 2 has great gunplay and gameplay in general but it was too constricted for its own good, really hope they go back to the more openess of the first.

As for this one I can't wait, I will kill everything including elephants :D

Obviously I was referring to the setting and openness of the first half of Farcry 1, while F2 did have an open environment, it was essentially a barren desert which failed to inspire any desire to explore. I simply could not get into F2's setting and mechanics.

As an aside I actually liked the monster/mutant sections in F1, they provided a nice, albeit stark, contrast to the first section of the game and there were definitely some awesome and intense moments to be had, probably didn't hurt that the game had absolutely top tier graphics back then, fully utilizing the then new pixel shading technology.
