We've been playing The Crew for about 5 days now and so far, we really like the game despite its shortcomings. Our main grudge is with the fact that earning money isn't that easy, which makes investing in expensive cars quite complicated, especially considering that some of them don't have access to most of the specs. Paying a lot of money for a car that will not be versatile enough suddenly becomes an issue as a result, and since no cars are ever offered to the player, it means that you'll have to save your precious money and possibly grind a lot to be able to buy more cars. It is true that the main idea of the game is to have you keep your ride and upgrade it, but you're bound to want more than your first choice. Also, it's a shame that the engine can barely be heard when using the hood or cockpit views as it makes driving in manual gear more complicated than it should (as you'll hear with the clutch problems we've had). That being said, if what you're after is an enjoyable journey through the US with friends, rest assured that you'll have plenty to do and a lot of fun doing it (apart from the chase missions that is).
Update Two videos added.
Note:
Except for the first and last ones, all videos were captured while playing with our Porsche 911 Fanatec wheel in manual gear. Settings were set to ultra and MSAA4X (except for the Pikes Peak video obviously).

Is it hardcoded?
I haven't bought 1 new car outside of the manu/model I originally chose. I'm too afraid to dump all my money. I did get the hidden cars however, which is neat and prefered if you're going to do factions challenges early.
