Trailer Xbox 360 PS3

The next Action-RPG title from Square-Enix, Nier, will be released worldwide on April 24th. The game is definitely not eagerly-anticipated, but maybe this launch trailer will convince you.

My opinion on this is that it looks horribly bland. The art is not in the least appealing to me. I wish they would have made Cry-On

I wish they'd release the Replicant version in the rest of the world.
Square's insane! Just because I'm not Japanese doesn't mean I prefer to play a game as an ugly, old men, instead of as a much easier on the eyes, young guy. To be honest, it's not just the guy that looks better in Nier Replicant, the whole game looks better than Nier Gestalt.

The whole game looks better on Gestalt ( like you I based myself on nothing, and made it a fact. ha ha), and adding that the plot is not as cliche as the 1000th game with a feminine pre-tennager that squeaks like a girl.... No thank you.

It's true, I won't deny it, the only reason why I said Replicant looks better than Gestalt is because in the videos that I saw it does seem to look better. I'm not going to say that it's a fact (it isn't), it's my personal opinion.

Story and gameplay-wise the two games are pretty much the same. The only difference is that the main characters look different and because one is much younger than the other he's the girl's brother and not her father. Other than that it's the exact same game, so I personally would prefer to play the version with the young guy.

And one thing I really dislike is how they yhink western taste is different from Asian taste !

Feels already discriminating !

Well you'd be pretty stupid to think that different cultures don't clash either. Just look at what happens when fox learns about eroge-games. They flip out in a moral panic. I'm not saying that i understand the change (then again i'm not sure how much has been changed) but still...Different cultures have different values and i guess i can agree that in western culture a father-daughter bond might be considered stronger than a brother-sister one? The graphics suck ass though, the main guy makes me giggle every time i see him. "What happened to your face!?!"

Supposedly, the difference is purely aesthetical.

Different cultures have different values
Exactly, which is why they can't assume everyone in the West thinks the same way. For instance, in Europe people don't care about half the stuff that makes Americans flip.
Personally, I think they did it because they think Westerners prefer characters with a more rugged look. To be honest, judging by the look of games made in the West they're not exactly wrong.

That's because you haven't met my boyfriend and his twin brother. I swear those two are joined at the hip!

That's exactly why the main character looks better as a young guy. Young people have smoother faces and that's easier to model than a wrinkly face. If this game's graphics were good that wouldn't really be a problem, but as it is the result is really quite bad.

A wrinkly face is not that harder to model imo. You sculpt it with zbrush or mudbox, they just fucked the proportions up big time. Looks like an intern did it...actually no, an intern wouldn't churn out a face like that. Actually i personally think it's almost harder to get a good looking smooth face, as it requires a lot more subtlety and finesse if you really want to get some expression and character in there :P

As true as the case with your boyfriend and his brother may be we have to talk in very broad and general terms here, and i don't think that the perception of the bond between parent and child as stronger than that between siblings is wrong in both large parts of Europe and America but ofc it won't apply to everyone.

let me just underline that by saying that i think that this is a very niche game that won't really benefit from this attempt at broadening the range of potential customers. The people who are stoked about it now would be stoked about it with the original scenario intact as well.
