While the Project CARS 2 demo on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro was released with 3 graphics modes to choose from, the full game was only updated yesterday. Because we're quite busy at work today, we're just going to start with the Xbox One X version on one circuit (Watkins Glen), which we used before in some of our stress tests. The number of AI was maxed out for the purpose of the videos, with the weather set to thunder storm in the beginning of the race. We should have some PS4 Pro coverage as well at the end of the afternoon or in the evening, and maybe we'll even dare to propose a real face-off between both versions if we can find the time to do so. Ideally, we'd like to test a bunch of other tracks as well, so fingers crossed. Until then, enjoy the following analysis videos.
Update: 2 Xbox One X videos added.
Note:
Oddly enough, the framerate mode does not seem to be steadier than the resolution mode on Watkins Glen. We'll obviously test more tracks as soon as possible in order to make such such a mode can bring something to those who truly want to favor smoothness to a clean image. Quite logically though, the enhanced graphics mode suffers from more tearing issues than the other 2, but the framerate seems to remain quite steady on Watkins Glen. If it were not for the traces of tearing that apparently remain in all modes, the developers have done a pretty good job on Xbox One X, at least on this track. We'll see later today if more differences can be spotted on others.
Note 2:
The minor drops you can see every 10 seconds on the first 4 videos are not real drops. The video was recorded at 59.94 fps but Blim's plugin was designed with 30 or 60 in mind, so to make sure the average is as close to 59.94 as possible, it ads false drops.
