Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

First announced for a november release, Resident Evil 6 will now hit stores on October 2nd (PC version later). Take a look at the new trailer inside to learn what's going on in the game's story plus new screenshots.

GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW
Blending action and survival horror, Resident Evil 6 promises to be the dramatic horror experience of 2012. Resident Evil favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are joined by new characters, including Jake Muller, to face a bioterrorist threat on a global scale, as the narrative moves between North America, the war-torn Eastern European state of Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang.

Resident Evil 6 features three distinct, yet interwoven story threads, each with their own pair of protagonists for either solo or co-op play, both offline and online. Leon S. Kennedy is paired with US government agent Helena Harper, while Chris Redfield teams up with fellow BSAA member Piers Nivans. Finally, gun for hire and son of the infamous Albert Wesker, Jake Muller, is joined by Sherry Birkin, the daughter of former key Umbrella scientists, William and Annette. All six must face a new horror - the highly virulent C-virus that has been unleashed on an unsuspecting and unprepared world, creating new and deadly transformations.

FEATURES
Horror on a global scale – No longer confined to a specific location, the outbreak of the C-virus is worldwide with the action taking place in North America, Eastern Europe and China
Multiple characters and intertwined storylines – Experience the horror playing as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jake Muller with their respective partners
Solo or co-op – Resident Evil 6 delivers both single and co-op gameplay either offline or online
A new challenge – Confront the results of the C-virus in all its varied and deadly forms
o Zombies make a return to the Resident Evil series, but can now run, jump at players and even use weapons, making them far more challenging than in previous games
o The enemy creatures known as J’avo first came to prominence in the conflict zone of Eastern Europe and have the ability to regenerate when injured; furthermore, if J’avo take substantial damage to a particular area, they can mutate the affected body part into a variety of different forms, meaning players will have to rethink their strategy and adapt to this unpredictability
o The C-virus has also given rise to the Chrysalide, which take the mutation process even further as they can undergo a full metamorphosis; spawning a whole host of horrific creatures
Mercenaries returns – Players will once more be able to enjoy the highly popular Mercenaries Mode
Redesigned control system – Resident Evil 6 features an evolved control system allowing players to shoot while moving; slide; roll in any direction and to take cover, along with the addition of an enhanced melee attack
Demo coming with Dragon’s Dogma – Purchasers of Dragon’s Dogma, scheduled for release on May 22 in North America and May 25 across Europe, will receive a token allowing them to download the Resident Evil 6 demo, from July 3 for Xbox 360 owners and September 4 for PS3
Localized voice over – Resident Evil 6 will include fully localized voice over in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian as well as subtitles in Japanese, Russian, Polish, Brazilian and Portuguese

You can move and shoot/reload now, so I am super excited for it just because of that. I am hoping the controls arent as tank-like.

Definitely excited to get this game.

PS. I see Chris got a slight change of hairstyle, he doesnt have the TinTin pointy in the front, I like it hehe

What is it was japanese games and utterly awful script/dialogue? If capcom must outsource something as they have been doing a lot recently, outsource for writers and voice talent, cos the people doing it for you now truely suck.

Voice actors feel very good to me and RE has always been cheesy in dialogue and i am more than okay with that.

I haven't been keeping up with Resident Evil but this feels like it has an awfully large amount of human characters regularly interacting in the story than it usually has.

The trouble is that Synce is right in a way, this game looks pretty dire and has lost its survival horror tag that made it so popular. What we now have is some generic ott action fest with monsters thrown in, RIP and one for the kids.

Hmm, Wesker's son is one of the main characters huh.

And Sherry from RE2 is in the game. As well as Ada Wong.

And it seems we're going to get a Chris vs. Leon moment as well. Interesting..

I think this is correct. I remember reading about the original RE back before it came out in Edge magazine and I recall it's creator Shinji Mikami (had to Google that one) talking about how they took their inspiration from the old European zombie horror flicks, in particular Fulci's works instead of George Romero's. He remarked on the camera work as being a massive inspiration, and even the original mansion was a European design to it. Now, it seems, these latest RE's are all geared towards an American market with American styles as inspiration. Not that that is a bad thing in it's own right, but in the case of this series, it's killing it. It's far too action orientated with marines, explosions and all that other brainless shite that pollutes the big screen regarding modern american cinema. RE has lost it's roots and it's charm.

The trailer looks nice. Yes, well directed (for an action cheese fest that is) and the visuals are fantastic, but, where is the suspense? Where's the creepy horror vibe? This is supposed to be a horror, right? I get none of that watching this trailer. Go back and look at the very first RE 4 teaser and compare it with this. See the difference? RE is dead. I won't be buying this one.

600 people are working on this...

For people wanting horror, it's not the same director as Mikami. Much like Silent Hill, why do people think it'll go back to its old ways? Those guys are gone. That's why I rented RE 5, and now I won't bother with RE 6 because it'll just end up being a blip in a week with people bitching for days about the botched storyline of so many characters, stupid bosses, and not enough Leon sections.

At least it's not Jun Takeuchi...ehh.

"America" didn't ask for Resident Evil to become COD. That's the choice Capcom made, plain and simple. It's like people making blanket statements like, "The reason anime has stagnated, is because Pixar makes a lot of money." It's just dumb, ignorant and incorrect.

The decision to be more action-oriented is Capcom and Capcom's alone. It wasn't some sort of mandate or lobbying from "America".

He is right in that the game does look like a lot of other games this generation. He is very wrong that all of America wants this crap. I personally prefer the old, tension filled gameplay, as do most of the people I know. America is one of, if not the most diverse country in the world, so don't hold it against us if some developer thinks they know what "we" want. Saying "congratulations America you got what you wanted", is both ignorant and insulting. It's akin to turning on the tv, seeing a basketball game, and saying congratulations black people, you got what you wanted....

They get far more favorable reviews and sales but leaning towards American interests which happen to be shooters.

Just as an aside, does anyone remember (or played) Jurassic Park on the SNES? It was a top down 3rd person view, and once you went indoors, it changed to a tense first person view. I thought that was an excellent crossing of the two genres and it's something that seems to be lacking today when creative game design is called for. This was ambitious game design on a 16-bit console some 18 years ago. Imagine a fresh new Resident Evil doing something similar, where once you get outside, it switches to a 3rd person view so you can take in large environments, and have loads of zombies on screen, having it a bit more action orientated, but once you go inside, it changes to a slow-paced first person view that's very tense and very scary. That would be great, wouldn't it? If a 16 bit game was doing that 18 years ago, then it tells you something is sorely lacking in game development today. Ideas.
