PC Xbox 360 PS3

Electronic Arts and Microsoft put online on XBL the first teaser trailer of Need for Speed: Shift, done with ingame footage. It looks quite good, but hopefully it will be smoother in the final game.

That. Just. Looks. Like. Killzone 2. On. Wheels.
The camera motion, the physics, the action going on, just pour over some motion blur and it'll look amazing.

Shit this stuff is good! :D

please, please please have somewhat realistic driving physics, even if its PGR4 arcadey style, I'll love it, as long as it's not like GRID

as i said on the forum. looks nice, but also a LOT like GRiD...which as far as i'm concerned is not a good thing. GRiD felt like crap handling wise.

i'm not sure if need for speed is a franchise that can be saved anymore. but who knows. maybe they'll finally make a better game then the hot pursuit series.

was grid really that bad? i was thinking of getting it for the pc.

EDIT: just looked at the trailer, and can safely say that GT5 has nothing to worry about.:p

Omg, omg, omg, looks amazing, yeah please, please, realistic driving, well if it wont deliver there is still another hope, Ferrari Project by Blimey, EA is using the eingine from Ferrari Project for this NFS and Blimey is helping them on the physics so hopefully it will deliver, if not Ferrari Project will for sure and it looks the same graphical if not better.

Btw the graphics look very jaggie, like it's not in 720p, really it looks low res, hmmm.

Actually looks very nice for an NFS game but I agree if it handles like Grid I won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Are you talking about graphics or gampleay, from the gameplay part it looks alot more fun and action packed, then GT5p, i got bored really fast by GT5p.

If the car behaving will be realistic then this could be some freaking good game but as i already said Ferrari Project is the game to watch could be some killer sim.

i mean visually, i heard loads of talk about how it looked better than GT5p.
also GT5p is more simulation rather than arcade style gameplaywise, i prefer sim, but i guess you prefer arcade. i stopped being a fan of N4S after ps1.

I dont prefer arcade, i prefer sim but it would be nice to have a bit more action packed racing sim, im getting a bit bored by sims like Forza and GT, something is missing, the crashing and contacts with cars have to be more realistic something like GTR for PC and Shift looks to do this better, at least it looks like this from the videos.

About graphics, well they worked on the gameplay until now there is still alot time from them to improve the graphics and if they fix the framerate problems and jaggies then it's already looking better then GT5P.

action packed racing sim?! i guess that would strongly rely on the environments, making it less of a sim.

even after polishing, i highly doubt that it would look better than GT5p, and it certainly does not look better than GT5p already, i guess for now we'll have to agree to disagree. maybe after some more gameplay footage i might be convinced.

i have a nagging suspicion that the playable version the media were talking about could have been running on a high end pc.

What i mean with action packed is, it has to have more realistic crashes and colisions with cars then Forza and GT, changing weather, the ability to flip cars, a better sense of speed and stuff like this.

GTR does all this things better then Forza and GT5P but im bored playing games on PC, dont know why it wasnt like this in the past but it's now.

Somethings in the graphics already look better then GT5P, environments look better for sure, they are bigger and way more detailed, car models look similar good but the game looks damn jaggie and low res, if they fix this it's goind to look awesome.

You could be right about the PC version, or maybe they played a newer build, i have no idea, but this low res look clearly destroyes the whole graphics.

that would be pretty sweet actually.:)

pc gaming alone isn't enough for me personally, a bit of console gaming is great as well, but i mostly only buy console exclusives. i own pc(GTX295:p), ps3, wii, psp and ds.

I like what I see and some previews compare the handling to Race Pro and not Grid.

Yes it really was that bad. You mentioned that you prefer sim racers so I'd advise you to stay far away from Grid. There's an old demo out for it that you could try though. That's all it took for me to realise it was crap.

I gotta say Shift is looking great so far. And thank you for releasing ingame footage instead of some worthless CG. Just hope they put out a demo and include an option to turn down that damn blur effect when you crash.

Not if you have the PS3 version and a good FFB steering wheel. If you have that, GRID can be an awesome game. Yes, it is arcade but using this setting:

FF Setting (In order)

* 50
* 60
* 60

* Deadzone- 0
* Steering Saturation- 25%
* Linearity- 1
* Accelerator Pedal Deadzone- 10%
* Accelerator Pedal Saturation- 85%
* Brake Pedall Deadzone- 15%
* Brake Pedal Saturation- 85%

* 900%- ON

I usually would turn off Traction Control and Stability Management but keep the ABS on and the car while it's not GT5 Prologue, drives as well as GT4 except for the sense of speed which is decidedly more arcade.

The car handles really well even the faster ones. I've even downloaded the 8 Ball pack and the TVR, the Nissan GT-R, the Maclaren F1, all handles great.
Still, I think NFS: SHift will be a more of a simulation game than GRID and obviusly the car will handles more realistically, and from what I've read (an Interview with SMS' Ian Bell) even revolutionary. It eschews the current implementaton of physics in most racing simulation games but I guess we have to wait until the game's released to find that out.

Looks very good...no...bloody fantastic actually. Looks quite a bit better than GT5P, definitely.

But, since the last couple of NFS's were complete cock-ups...I'm being cautious with this one. And I'm with the lot that hopes it won't handle like Grid, but then again...there's no racing game out there that handles worse than Codemasters racers this gen, except maybe for that "Juiced 2" game.

Watching this video, it's the first time any racing game has given me a real impression of real racing. I think it has to do with the good FOV (not just looking out the front windshield like so many games), and the camera shake. Amazing. If the full game actually looks like this and plays well enough I'm all in.

Looks really good, as long as the driving physics have depth (ala PGR3,4) I'm in.

I think the driving physics will be good, at least they look good from the video.

The cars seem to go even slower in corners then in PGR4, more like PGR3 which i find better, PGR4 was easier and more on rails, but still far better then GRID.

GRID was so bad that you could actually already see in videos that the cars are going like mad into corners an that they behave very unrealistic.
