It's really a weak tech demo, but there are some nice effects, and that ice is really nice looking.

This is the tech demo i genuinely hope isn't turned into an actual game. It has nice effects, clearly a massive step up from what we have now, but it's also the least interesting thematically. In order of "i hope it's a game"

Samaritan > Infiltrator > Elemental

i'm sure its doing alot of decent things in the background but compared to the other tech demo's its pretty weak. I'd much rather see Infiltrator running of ps4

Believe it or not it's weak. The previous demo (infiltrator) was also weak.

Explain how it's weak?

Infiltrator looks close to cgi quality.

there exists no single powerful engine out there I don't like, but I'm also eager to hear your explanation, please!

tbh this is quite significant downgrade from the original version powered by GTX680. Not sure whether they used the recent dev kit version (hopefully not) but the weaker textures, less particles and simpler lighting system make this version look inferior compared to the older one. I'm a bit disappointed

the only problem might be an awkward design .. we all saw the infiltrator ! that is the real unreal engine 4 !

Looks amazing! Of course there are going to be differences between an engine running on a £1200 PC and a £300-400 console and the more Epic and other developers get to know the new systems the better the Unreal 4 engine (and other engines) will perform.

too bad tech demos never bare any resemblance to a game running on the same engine.

The original demo (single gtx 680?) had an almost prerendered look to it. The ps4 one looks more like a game

Looks pretty good, although far from the most impressive demo shown on the console in my opinion. In fact, I want to see what the infiltrator demo looks like on PS4. That demo blew away the original version of this trailer...

There must be some other problems going on in the background. Even the textures look muddy and considering the PS4 has 8gb of RAM this shouldn't be an issue.

I hate to say it guys but this is more likely to be on the ps4 then the Samaritan or the new infiltrator demo those were running on pc and no way those are running on the ps4

there has been a rumour going around this particular demo uses only like 28-30 % of the actual PS4 power. I wish it was true.

I think it's because the tech demo shown at the reveal (and is being shown here) didn't have final hardware (even the killzone devs made their stage demo using a dev kit with only ~2gig of ram avaliable for graphics...apparently). I mean, with 8 gig of ram, surely there is no reason for, say, the doorframe in this tech demo to look completely untextured?

@fayte - the UE4 engine is massively scalable, it'll even be on phones and tablets (but not the wii-U apparently. Lol). So while the infiltrator demo is running on PC right now, it could easily run on next gen consoles,..it'd probably just need some cut-backs. Much like the comparissons between the PC version of the elemental tech demo, and the PS4 version.

You might be right. They can justify the lack of the more advanced lighting system but the weak textures were what really shocked me. We'll see, but I really wanna believe they just used an older devkit.

It's clearly just an unoptimized port. The most jarring thing for me was not the weak textures, but the stuttering fps. Displacement mapping on the lava was completely missing too, and the lighting took a massive hit. Remember, Epic said that the Samaritan demo was running off of a couple of high end cards in SLI and that they could get it down to a single GPU. Similar to this demo. No doubt it initially required SLI to run it, but got it down to the single 680. They got it really close, and that's encouraging enough, because as time goes on, no doubt they could match or even surpass the original PC demo to run on the PS4/Xbox.
