i just wanna see that head tracking thing. it sounds crazy...but awesome at the same time...lol we already know the eyetoy can track your head without the need for any additional crap (like coloured balls or UV lights or anything) but to see how it's work in a cockpit view intrigues me....even if the game as a whole, doesnt.

Man, I wish we had some true new information you know. This translation thing is just bad.

1000 cars is just crazy, even when they'll have 34 Skylines, that is crazy.

170 premium models? WTF is this? I mean, in one way it sounds awesome (interior damage!), but is this going to happen only in 170 cars? Is any other type of damage also applicable here? In other words, are 170 the only ones we'll see damage on? That would be stupid.

60 courses.....Hmnn...True courses or is this a bloated number Forza style? I'm thinking it's not *that* bloated because GT4 had quite a few tracks.

Represented in full fall? lol, whatever that means.

Youtube replay output? OMG, the spam will be unbearable.

No release date yet, incredible........

Because my post came a bit late in the news:
Honestly, Kaz has made an ass out of himself--and his fans--over and over. He's probably the biggest bullshitter out there. First he was throwing that bullshit of "manufacturers won't let us", then FM came in and made PD look rather stupid. Then, since he could no longer use that excuse, he said that since their standards were so high, they were not going to do damage until they could do it right, realistic, and some other crap. Then theys show this thing. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool,......but this is far from great damage. It's crappy damage for the big deal they were making it out to be.

There's barely--if any--body deformation at all whatsoever. I saw better damage in rally games this past generation. Rallisport Challenge, and a multitude of PC sims. In this game, it's like the car has "hit points", on door hinges, bumpers, and that's it. The bumper will apparently fall off, but there is barely any damage to it. In fact, I didn't even see a scrath on it. It's a bit perplexing to say the least. It's just more bullshit from Kaz. In certain aspects (and unless we are missing something, ie. not the way it'll look on release), FM damage looks better. In what aspects? Well, in FM there seems to be more body deformation, and A LOT of scratches, broken windshields, headlights, etc etc.

And then, not all cars have damage. It creates an inconsistent environmnet. Again, for making an ass out of himself for so long, you'd at least expect all cars to have damage. Oh, yeah, inconsistency is such a high standard.

I loved the fact that the engine is also modeled, but then again, is this also on a few "select" vehicles. lol. What a joke. Seriously, I thought the guys at T10 (mainly Greenawalt) made an ass of themselves with some of the things they say, but this dude is something else. Ah well.
We really need to find out more details about what a premium car really is. But damn, some things are not looking good.

TBH when it comes to damage on the cars, I got a sneaking suspicion from the E3 trailer that it's only implement on rally cars. From the footage that was shown at gamescon it seems (so far) that it is only on the rally cars. I say this cos when you look at the gamersyde footage of the damage, you see a white Evo (non rally version) which crashes into the rally subaru.

Now the subaru takes damage but the road version of the evo drives off with no damage at all, which for now makes me think that the damage is only extended to rally cars. I guess we will have to wait until there is conformation from PD themselves on which cars do have damage.

Yeah, some people believe that, some others are saying damage is only going to be there for race cars (of any cars, including rally). Pretty dumb actually, it's non-sense almost.

There is still the debate of whether or not we'll get 1000 cockpits. They better though. If T10 managed to do 400+, why couldn't PD have done a 1000 with a million years in development?

Also, I guess I'm the only who noticed something terrible was missing in that leaked release of info. There was *no word* on weather, or time of day change. What's up with that? Kaz also said that was going to be part of the game. Seriously, if they dropped this one, Yamamuchi will officially become one of biggest assholes when it comes to the video games industry.

A lot of us have had suspicions for a while as to how close to the touted feature set the game will actually get and as time drags on it seems more and more likely that features are only gonna be half assed like the damage or the cockpits. If PD miss their targets like T10 missed theirs in FM2 and no day/night in FM3 expect it to receive every bit the same flak. I was comparing FM3 to GT5 in the forza thread and ended up getting warnings and all sorts, i still feel FM2 is a weak game compared to where it should have been, especially visually, and some of the decisions taken in FM3 left me disappointed. However if the bar is missed by as much is being speculated by GT5 (and the words coming out of PD are very selective) then i cant be anything but disappointed aswell.
Big promises were made here that could only be taken at face value, especially when it has been in development for so long and prologue indicated that they were on track to deliver. To not achieve those goals is highly disappointing and makes me less sure of a day one purchase which i have been waiting for since the launch of the ps3.

Yeah it's a bit strange that they have a demo at gamecon and have no solid info to share about the game it self. I mean didn't they say that they could release the game if they wanted to now since it's so complete?

Heres another gameplay video

Cars look really nice as always, but A.I, Collision Physic and Car Physics still remain unchanged since GT3 and having damage only on 15% of the cars is pretty retarded to be honest.

Collisions have definitely improved, you have to go watch some GT3/4 to see some true pinball action. Physics, I don't know. AI continues to be completely retarded.

i dont think the Ai is retarded, they make for some stiff competition, it's the fact they dont seem to be all that "human", they stick to a race line like nothing i've ever seen, but then pro racers do the very same thing. the main issue with the AI is that they dont seem that aware of the player or anyone else. they simply follow their line, and if you hit them, they dont really react, they just carry on with their race line. it was better in prologue then it was in 3/4, but they're a little TOO perfect in the way they drive.

But that is exactly why it is indeed retarded, that vid has a perfect example of how the cars drive on rails. Park your car in the middle of the road in almost any other current generation racing game and see if the A.I controlled cars drive straight into the back of you; It just doesnt happen because thats like the most basic aspect of A.I in a racing game. In GT5, every car on the road appears to drive on rails in single file formation, there's simply no intelligence in its A.I.

What I read today made me gasp and wanting to have it with even less patience, GT5 is confirmed to be the first console game that utilizes "3D head-tracking" with the use of PS-Eye... in plus of 3D stereoscopy!

Here's what PSinsider writes:
"First of all, there is the full head tracking offered by PlayStation Eye. Move your head forward while in cockpit view, you see more of the car around you, as if you are looking through a window rather than a flat screen (see the video below for an example). Turn it to the side, look out your side window. This alone brings the level of visual realism miles beyond what has ever been done in a videogame before."

More here:

With the features KORNdog collected above and the photorealism in mind, doubled with these tendencies in 3D above... this has got to be the most immersive racing experience ever!

Gimmick.

I have the PSEye and there is no way im setting it up just for that.

Now if they could implement head tracking on those 3D glasses that would be something to be talking about.

Actually headtracking is pretty cool. It's much more substantial than 3D that requires two consoles, a new TV and glasses. Not sure if you have an idea of how it works and looks like but here is some basics (MS hired the guy for Natal): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw

edit: Actually I can't see the PSeye working on a 3D plane (since it's just an RGB cam), so maybe it's just on the 2D plane... which would take away most of the illusion.
