looks to run pretty smooth for the most part, like the EG review said. I thought the framerate looked a bit weird in the video, sometimes too fast, and sometimes stuttering. But then again, that could have been just due to the video.

Anyway, hopefully I can get this next week when it comes out. Have a few big projects/tests coming up so I may have to postpone picking the game up till those are knocked out :/

I want VF5 and I want to get Eternal Sonata, Orange Box, Bioshock and Halo 3 which I have yet to play. and then come november I have assassins creed and Mass effect. OH BLOODY HELL! just writing them down makes my head spin and not in a good way! :D
Just make sure you have enough for Lost Odyssey in Feb.. ;)

Think im guna get VF5 tomorrow, if only for the online aspect.

True but that depends on you having the time to play the games you rent which I dont. between university and a part time job, I really cant.

What an awesome game, haven't had so much fun with a fighter in ages, the online part is very good.

The online play is rediculously good. I just played a bunch of matches with Jolli and it's pretty damn close to impossible to tell you're online.

Also, yeah, good game Jolli. :D The rivalry was palpable after a few rounds. :D

The online aspect is nowhere near as laggy either. (infact its not laggy at all)

Yeah. I mean it might be that I'm in Sweden and he's in the UK and we've both got good broadband infrastructure going over here, but it really is very impressive. DOA4 even on good days would feel ever-so-slightly sluggish, this doesn't at all.

VF has always been a ton more enjoyable than DOA. It's good to hear the online works so well too. I have to see it for myself to believe it :)

I must say though, the quality of the actual online gameplay only makes it more disappointing that the interface is so.. spartan to put it mildly. The player match stuff could easily be set up like normal versus play where you can go back to character select and stuff, but instead they make you jump through a lot of awkward hoops to do so.

The ranked matches simply keep throwing you into blind dates with no option for rematches unless you add their gamer card (for which there is a pretty accessible option), but that means player matches = unranked. I'm not so fussed about ranking really, but no recording of your wins and losses does feel a little sad.


edit: oh and I need a god damn arcade stick!

also, when I eventually get to play Mr. Grift, I so got to win the first match. So that I can then log off and say I went undefeated against him. Oh yes.

It does in ranked matches, but not in player matches. Player matches is the only mode where you can realistically choose who to fight.

Also, from what I gather the offline vs mode and the xbox live mode have separate stats.

As long as you stick to ranked matches you collect stats like you would in the arcade game in a real arcade, but it's essentially impossible to play against your friends there.

ah well, that's a bummer. Isn't that more due to XBL policy or no? Still, it's better than nothing. I'll probably spend more time in player matches then.

I've been with Jacky Bryant since the beginning. Through the whiny YEAAAHS and the squeaky lightning comments. I used to call myself "Flipkick Bryant" and later "Idol Bryant" after the obvious inspiration Billy Idol, and back when we added our names to gameplay videos with premiere that used to work. Now that you can actually add your own ring name, neither actually fit. :P

So, just Idol now, but on Live you're your gamertag anyway so it doesn't really matter. :)

But yeah, I've been using Jacky since the beginning, him, Kage, and Akira. Granted I was a little kid when we first got the first VF, and I picked them just because they looked cool. Now it's just become more of a tradition type of thing. I'll use others of course, but those have always been my main 3. I'm not very good with Akira though, well I mean not like those crazy Akira pros. My little sister can actually use him better than me, but she is somehow really good at the game. Always has been. My poor ego has been tarnished countless times by her fury.

However, El Blaze has won a place in my heart, and I'll probably be using him a lot as well.

He was surprisingly cool yeah. I thought he'd be just another Wolf/Jeffry type character, but he's like.. tiny and really fast.

Eileen though.. I'm... really not sure why she's even in there. She's like a Lion light.
