dude, you have physical copy or Origin? If you have it preloaded, you can always use crookedmind's tip. works like a charm, played it for an hour yesterday. And you only have to do the proxy thing the first time, for the activation.

Only played the SP so far, (i7 2600k, 16GB RAM, and GTX470) and the gfx are out of this world, really. and it runs like a charm. Actually bought a GTX560TI yesterday and was having seconds thoughts because it was running so well on my gtx460, but now the 560ti just arrived...so...oh well.
So much going on, and with such style and cool postprocessing effects. it's breathtaking.

Damn this delayed Euro release.. I'm getting the game on Thursday (2 days to go).. So how does it run and look compared to the beta? Much better?

Talking PC version obviously..

I'll have to check.. a mix of medium and high mostly.. and like 60-90fps. I can't get nvidia control panel settings to take, or I'd be forcing triple buffering.

yea I forced triple buffering as well (in the beta). Medium and High hmm I think you should run it with High and Ultra ;)

oh my, what a rather pleasant surprise! misses just informed she's meeting some friends tonight, and my friend who was staying over is going to have dinner with a friend. now now, I wonder what i'll do tonight, all by myself! (hint: install my new gtx560Ti and play BF3 till my eyes pop)

I got a good hazing last night. Stumbled into a pub filled with old Team HOT players. They seem to be fitting right into BF3.

Some of the reviews are a hoot: "Online warfare is intricate and rewarding, but it also presents a learning curve and a strong reliance on team coordination."

It's hilarious that the second part of the sentence reads like a negative.. being quite a positive. They might as well have said, "We like this game, but it's too much of a game for most people."

I feel like there's something wrong with mouse input. It feels like mouse smoothing (aka negative acceleration), even with "raw input" on.

I remember the HOT clan from Battlefield 1942. Their clan tag is followed by random names of Western female celbs with big tits (HOT Halle Barre or whatever). I thought those were hackers back in the day (that's why I remember them)

You don't need to be as good as HOT was to get called a hacker in a pub lol.. They dropped the funny female names a while back.

I just played Metro 32 player conquest w/ 64 players. Sorta ridiculous.

hmm, is it me or the rush/conquest games are too fast? i mean, very little tickets? what i loved in BF games, was that a match was long, hell, you could have on rush over an hour long match. here i feel if the defending team is doing its job, attacking looses in 5 min...

I think it seems that way because the maps are so tight. In the old Battlefield games you really had to travel wide open expanses. This game you don't have to go far to get killed.

Some maps seem to be designed for 32, and 64 just comes off as excessive and difficult.

caspian border seems to be freakin huge, but a game there yesterday lasted very little! not your typical battlefield 1h long match. maybe just my impression.

I expect to see 64 player servers with more tickets in the future. I'm a bit disappointed with the conquest maps in general. The 32 player "layouts" are much better, for the most part, and the maps don't actually scale in any reasonable fashion. BF2 had much better conquest period. Adding 1 flag (in the same clustered group) while adding 32 more players? Sorta bullshit. Then you have the abundance of linear designs and meat grinder choke points. The center flag on Grand Bazaar? Ouch.

I think the basic gameplay (and clearly the technology behind it) is aces all around. There are other elements (kit design, level design) that I'm not as thrilled with. It's still a damn good game. Is it the best FPS this generation? Maybe. It remains to be seen how well this game can opporate as an organized event. DICE talked a big game when it comes to e-sports, but I've seen very little to suggest that there will be any real support there.

If you want a challenge pop into the Team HOT server while their on it, and be on the opposing team. Stacked beyond stacked.

I really do not like being Russian in this game at all. Problem is if you're on one side predominantly then you tend to unlock more on that team. Being switched to another side is a severe handicap. I assume its supposed to be an incentive to play more and get more unlocks, but it makes an already bland slog even sloggier.

It doesn't take very long to unlock a new gun. You're only stuck with faction weapons until your first unlock.

To me only hardcore mode is worth playing...I don't like the damage model in the normal mode. Game is awesome now that I have stopped playing on non hardcore servers

The mouse bug is seriously affecting my ability to enjoy this game. They've said they're aware of, and have fixed this bug on their end. We're just waiting for a patch now. That patch can't come soon enough.

Gotta say I've been pretty let down by this game so far. I've only played it for two days now but thus far the game has been a pretty big letdown, from map design and bugs etc. The graphics on the console version are really a dissapointment as well. After I graduate this december I'll probably get the PC version for the higher player count, better graphics, and obviously KB/M. But playing the console version I gotta say it doesn't feel like much of a step up from Bad Company 2 at all. that being said I haven't had a TON of time playing the game so that can all change.

I do love the sounds and feel of most of the guns though. The "feel" of the game I still enjoy for the most part, I just remember BF2 being so much more fun than this. Maybe I'm just getting to used the whole FPS thing as the market is getting so saturated? Also I'm probably just getting more jaded w/ age lol.
