I played Killzone 3 yesterday, 1 round after hours of BF3 just to compare the aiming and I was playing brilliantly, had tons of killstreaks going on. The ultra responsive and smooth feel of KZ3 (doesnt have aim assist in that game, go figure right lol) was great compared to BF3.
I usually aint this crappy in FPS like in BF3, hell not even in BC2 or beta I was this bad, but this patch is making it difficult for me to play and enjoy myself...and I am not the only one so something is wrong and DICE has to fix this as soon as possible.
Usually I say GG should look at DICE with BF for the sense of weightyness but responsiveness for their Killzone, now its the complete opposite. DICE should look at Killzone 3 and copy it off lol
I have tried various weapons and attachments, nothing seems to work. The AK74M with no scope, no foregrip and a heavy barrell seems to reduce the recoil for me.
I am pretty much playing as Assault the most since that class IMO has the weapons I like the most though Engineer has G36c, big fan!. I still havent gotten flash suppressor though, wish there was a way to check a list of unlockables and what rank is needed to get them.
Now the L85A2 looks very nice, reminds me of Killzone's ISA assault rifle, love the reloading and the front of the weapon, similair to FAMAS.
I dont have Back To Karkland so I cant use it unfortunetly.
Though I did start using Famas, without reflex scope I seem to have better aim control when shooting than with a scope.
About the 3600 DPI, I use it sometimes, rarely tbh (default is 1800) but then I put the game mouse sensitivity to somewhat low-med.
But in the end, I cant fully enjoy the guns when the aiming is this bad on PS3, I am trying but its difficult. Why cant DICE just check on the 360 version since that version seems to have spot on aim mechanic...havent heard any complaints so it must be right.
Did they have butterknives handed to every soldier or what? I sweep one time and they dont die, twice, they dont die, its pretty dumb. The game basically has no melee for if you run out of ammo in close quarters tbh. Only way to use melee is if you go from the back so the game triggers an animation for stealing a dog tag.
I actually think it gives snipers an advantage. If they suppress you, your accuracy penalty is too high to counter suppress at that range. If you are getting suppressed you best take cover. Fighting back fully suppressed is pretty shitty.
Sath.. how do you have the FAMAS if you don't have back to karkand? That's also a B2K gun.
And don't use scopes on assault rifles if recoil is an issue. Magnification will just make it harder to control. Use the RDS or Kobra. The Holo is okay but it limits your field of view compared to the two red dots.
Click on the weapons tab in stats on Battlelog and look to the right. It will show you how many kit points you need to unlock all of the weapons. Click on a weapon and it will tell you the attachment unlock order and how many kills you need for each attachment.

I thought it was FAMAS lol
I looked at it again but it was a gun that looked like it, my bad lol.
Its the A-91 for Engineer.
The knife, I dont use it unless I am directly behind a enemy other than that its useless.
About the scopes, I need to use a reflex scope considering I dont like the design of the iron sights in this game, they use so much of the center of the view I cant see anything most of the time.
Tbh I dont like the scopes either, IMO the MW series has the best looking modern scopes and weapon details, they look very nice. Even the iron sight doesnt cover the entire center for me.
About the Battlelog, I just go to My Soldier on PS3 to check stats and stuff, I dont see any Battlelog :(
Unless its called something else? For now I check from internet browser.
The A-91 is cool. It's actually one of the few guns I run iron sights on though. Other sights fit it sorta funny.
Battlelog = http://battlelog.battlefield.com

Sights are good for the most part. I play the M416 and M27 with iron sights exclusively (they are lovely) and for some reason I get a better visual feedback for burst fire making me a lot more accurate. All Russian guns except for the PKP and AN-94 have good sights, too.
And I don't get the point about scopes/holo sights. They don't look good? They look the same in every game. And if view obstruction is a problem there is the Kobra sight, you hardly notice it's on the gun.
The iron sights on the famas are a hoot. Basically unusable.
http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/1289305404.j... that doesnt look similair to FAMAS to you? and I didnt say "every weapon".
I was comparing the scope designs to MW series, they tend to look more...sleeker and smaller a bit. I just prefer those designs more.
Well I have been using the M416 + iron sight + foregrip + heavy barrell...I love it! It is a bit on the weak side interms of punch but the recoil is reduced ALOT for me, definitely my favorite so far.
Mini rant :P
I wish in BF3 when you use foregrip on a weapon the left arm would actually hold the grip like in MW series, just a small detail I like. I sometimes forget if I have it on or not until I check in customization or reload.
@Viginti: Elpresador lol
You'd probably dig the flash suppressor too I think. If you want to run and gun I suggest playing more engi too.. though you can get awesome results with a bunch of all kit weapons as well. PDR-W, P90, MP7, etc.
Now I added foregrip to M416 and like I said, its pretty nice, recoil is less. Sure the range might be off, but i mean its a AR, you shouldnt pick enemies so far off you know you are gonna waste bullets and be seen on enemy map.
I rather just get close as possible. I will experiment more with it, but so far that loadout seems to be solid.
Engineer aint bad, there is a G36C there, loved it since COD4 :D
And tbh I bought the shortcut pack for Engineer so I dont have much to get for weapons, but attachments, depends on the weapon.
I havent gone much with Support tbh, mostly Assault.
From what I can tell it works better on SMG/PDW's.
Hopefully they get new accuracy plots up for attachments soon over at symthic and you can just see exactly what they do. I can't condemn the grip completely, since it's effect is now set per weapon instead of a global value, but from what I've seen it's generally shitty. I was pretty comfortable with it on the L85A2 though, which is a slow, accurate gun to begin with.
You should get the M416 with a foregrip and see how its like, maybe you get the same feeling I am getting, or maybe otherwise.
It may be bogus, but I didnt play much after i found the loadout, but I will give it more gameplay time to see how it ends up. So far I find it very solid.
And if you're shooting long range you don't need to worry about the radar either. You're not going to appear on their radar because of distance. That's why the silencer is such friggin' garbage now. It doesn't deal enough damage down range, and it lost its awesome aimed down sight accuracy bonus, making it relatively useless long range (where stealth doesn't matter anyway). If you're not taking long range shots you might want to go for the flash suppressor instead of the heavy barrel anyway. Heavy barrel typically increases vertical recoil, but it has an awesome ADS bonus and long range damage bonus now.
I still think the M16A3 is awesome and incredibly easy to use.. it just isn't dominant anymore because of the changes to attachments. The old M16A3 + Grip + Silencer combo used to rule this game, but that combination is horrible now.
One thing I dont like is 3 shots bursts, sure its great for long range to keep a steady aim and precision, but when you get surprised by someone very near the other one will go full auto and have more chance to kill you.
Though I believe 3 burst shots packs more punch, i guess thats its pro.
And guns w/ burst fire modes.. I don't much use them either. I do sometimes switch to single round if I'm working on a really long range target.. but most of the time I prefer to control my bursts myself. It works better on most weapons anyway, since you'll find different sweet spots in terms of burst length for different ranges. If someone is close-medium, you can let off a few more rounds than you could if they were further away, etc.

I like the ones that have 3 modes. Full auto, semi-burst and single shots.
But I dont play much with that, especially when I know its not safe if a enemy is flanking or something, then I need to be ready to empty my clip lol.
With a bit of practice you can easily control a full auto to single shot, thats what I do anyways.
On consoles I wish SELECT wasent the button to use for Spotter feature, it pisses me off to stop moving, spot someone and then move my thumb back to analog.
They should have added L3 analog click instead, it would be much faster and easier to ADS + move + spot.
I am sporting a M16A3 now with foregrip, reflex scope and a flashlight, not bad, pretty nice overal weapon.
The more I play it the more I start liking the game more than i originally though.
But the game has alot of wtf moments during gun-on-gun, like if I am shooting first and get more shots in, sometimes I die within a few shots and that aint a Magnum or shotgun.
That said there are some beastly guns out there, each exceptional in its role. I really liked the AK-74M and the AKS with heavy barrel. The M4A4 is still good, but considering you have to play more cautious anyway I find it hard to justify giving up the laser beam accuracy of the AKs. The SG553 seems to be a good middleground between the two.
I tried the M240B and from what I can tell this is a beastly gun. It drops enemies like no other, I love it. Haven't played with any other LMGs, but I'll definetely check out the RPK.
And I'm the last guy to scream overpowered, I didn't even think the FAMAS was OP since it had a lot of drawbacks that made it a one trick pony. But the SKS is seriously OP. That thing has virtually no recoil with a flash suppressor. It's so accurate I can drop enemies at virtually any distance and it has very good hip fire. The intended role is medium range combat, and it's probably the best weapon for that. But as far as I can tell it has no drawbacks. imo it should at least suffer a penalty in close range combat like any other sniper.
As for the rest of the changes, mostly I think they were good. Tanks were way too powerfull before the patch and imo they still are incredibly effective against infantry and even helis (with a competent tank crew that is). Ceramic armor extends their lifespan consierably, it's essentially a must have perk now. Of course you're finished when you get engy bombed, but that's the way it works and imo it makes tank combat way more interesting and fast paced.
And while everything runs faster and smother now the changes to suppression made infantry combat a crawl fest, I don't like it. The concept of it is good, but it's way too much. It shouldn't play any role at all at short ranges, imo.
