Battlefield 3 -- Now with less suppression!

I thought it was pretty obvious that we would see a Battlefield 4 sooner than later after the franchise appeared on consoles. I'm a bit baffled by the reaction though. I mean, I'm disappointed, but I still actually play Battlefield 3.

Oh well. I'll play the beta and see what it's all about. I am still enjoying BF3 and its additional content in the meantime. 2142 came out less than a year after Battlefield 2.. so at least we're not on a yearly release schedule.. I guess. At least that game was different enough to allow it to co-exist with Battlefield 2. I don't think that will be the case here. Perhaps we should have jumped back into the future for a couple of years.

PS. Canceling Bad Company 3 was still a good idea regardless.

I just have a feeling it's gonna feel very 3.5 ish. Even though that article claims it's gonna be NEXT GEN
Hopefully they implement a bit more destruction.

I am about to get back into bf3 because of all my friends I think...

I didn't know BC3 was cancelled though, that is sad.

As someone who actually likes BF3, Battlefield "3.5" wouldn't even be too bad if it weren't coming so soon after the end game content. That's why something like 2142 would be a lot more comfortable for the fans I think. Because we could see those games co-existing. But we'll see what happens. I'd prefer a spin-off and another year's worth of content for BF3. They could have charged more for that too! :D

And BC3 being canned is purely speculation on my part. The series makes no sense anymore. There's no way to keep Bad Company distinct without making it the "dumbed down" Battlefield franchise. That's especially true with the central titles appearing on consoles. Even if you prefer Bad Company's simplified gameplay, it doesn't make much sense. It's an identity thing. They're just too similar.

Battlefield 2 will probably always be the best "pure" Battlefield game. I sorta look at BF3 as a "greatest hits" record for the genre. That's especially true after Close Quarters, which BF3 executes surprisingly well.

I don't know what it's like on PC but on 360, it's just a terrible shotgun/M320 fest.

BF4 certainly will have such types of maps again, right from the get go. The gunplay in BF3 is the best out of any BF game yet. And with these maps they finally appealed to MW3 players. I guess EA is desperate to release a follow-up.

I on the other hand rarely play CQ ever since the novelty wore off. While the gameplay is very good it lacks any variety, I had more of that on the BC2 infantry maps. But this seems to be the way BF4 is heading.

It's very shotgun heavy (ask Phaethon lol), but I manage fine with the AEK and 93R :)

I'm still enjoying it. I don't think Domination is perfect but it's a pretty fun distraction.

I've been running the AEK full time, since they're contemplating changes to the M4 and M16. I wanted to make sure I had a backup plan. I even leave the heavy barrel on in CQ from time to time when I'm too lazy to swap it out :D

Amazing gun. Already hit 100 stars and it's quickly catching my M16.

Also.. 93R <3!

If I had the M5K with extended clip I'd probably never die. I'm amazed with how quickly that gun shuts people DOWN. 20 bullets is a deal breaker though.

I wonder what the Bad Company 2 team is working on? BF4 will probably launch on the next gen consoles so there's hoping it has more destruction and fun factor than BF3. I am done with BF3, haven't played the game in 2 weeks, probably won't play it again. Bring on BF4!

BF4 will launch next year on 360 and PS3. There's no way they're offering a beta for next gen consoles for pre-ordering MoH. Use your head.

The lead designer of BC2 was the lead designer of single player for BF3 (lol). I don't even think there is a "Bad Company" team. Alan Kurtz left the BF3 team in January to work on BF4.

It's not like people are stuck in one spot. Most of the people who worked on Bad Company 2 also contributed to BF3.

And I say you're being silly. The beta is in the autumn and it will likely launch before the end of next year. They wouldn't be giving out beta access to a PC game w/ the PS360 versions of Warfighter either.

Come on Doom Bringer, use your head, you "know things" after all.

Seen the trailer so many times. Very good trailer, and the new content looks really good.

Really enjoying CQ so far. So many variety they are adding with the dlcs. Can't wait.

I feel like just the way the environments are handled in BC2 (destruction) compared to the main BF franchise was enough to set it apart

Gameplay-wise, every BF3 trailer looks absolutely incredible! However, I've come to realise that reality is very different and not in a good way (I'm looking at you, Caspian border and pretty much every close quarters map!).

I think Caspian Border is pretty good. It and Kharg Island are good sandboxes. I prefer the 32-man layout on a few of the other sandbox maps. Some of them are a bit too flat. I don't mind the variety, anyway.

I also think Close Quarters has some pretty solid "classic" level design. Ziba Tower and Scrap Metal are both pretty awesome. Scrap Metal has so many cool little shortcuts. 925 and Donya aren't too shabby either.. Domination is a good time.

And if you're speaking of infantry focused vanilla maps, Bazaar (32/64) and Seine (32) are pretty snazzy conquest maps too.

They do cut good trailers though. EA even manages to make MoH look passable.

EA will want to go for the bigger audience, that means for the 360 and PS3. It's possible we'll see BF4 for the new consoles (I hope), but I wouldn't put my money on it.
