Stupid update. All their updates will be stupid as long as they don't fix the offline MP. Let us make our own class on a game per game basis, let us use all maps, ridiculous.

It's hardly a stupid update if they include the bug and balance fixes that the PC version already has implemented.. plus including more variety in matchmaking is always a plus (not that you'd need to add variety if you let people spawn their own servers w/ their own settings).

I think offline MP was an afterthought.. Who plays offline MP? Lans will use the PC version of the game anyway :P

Uh...........you need to play some "custom" games in offline MP to understand. Besides, system link or LAN is considered OFFLINE on the 360, which again sucks badly...........well, it doesn't suck, but it is stupidly limited.

Behold the most ignored thread by IW. It is shameful to be honest. They don't talk at all about this one, and they pride themselves on taking care of the community. Not giving even a reasonable on what the hell the situation is disgusts me.

They've done good before, but all companies show their dark sides at the worst of times.

I don't think that offline gameplay is anyones priority on the Xbox 360. I would go so far as to guess that it's not a particularly high priority for the community either.

I've slowly drifted into playing this more and more each night, found a couple of great Hardcore servers that I get a decent ping to (decent being ~130 unfortunately)

I don't think I've played a game where kills felt so meaningful, what with the streak rewards and material penetration. Earlier today I spotted a guy sniping near the C flag on Overgrown, he pulled back behind the cover of a low wall and I fired a burst that killed him and two of his buddies (two of them being headshots.) :D

A handful of people bitching over 20 pages surely doesn't account for a majority voice, when there are thousands of people playing online who think that's a non-issue, now does it? I didn't say that nobody cared.. just that it wasn't a top priority for developers or the masses.

OMG--offline gameplay is broken--I can't go to the lanparty with my Xbox 360 now!

BTW--They've never paid as much attention to those forums as the IW boards. Maybe they don't have an answer yet, maybe they didn't expect console gamers to care much about system link and local mp anymore (and I'm not really sure why they do). Regardless it's hardly a pointless update......................

Slabs: I hate hardcore. Shoot someone in the toe for instant death! It's for people who can't aim.

Here's one example of how retarded it is: you can hit someone in the chest with a smoke grenade and kill them from full health.

What gun does that happen with? Bullets do plenty of damage in vanilla.. hardcore is stupid... you can sneeze on someone and they die. If you actually HIT someone three times in the chest with most guns, they will die. One burst with the M16 to the chest will kill someone in the vanilla game modes. Unless they have Juggernaut, but I pretend that doesn't exist. Chest/Head shots do plenty of damage already.. I don't like the fact that many shots are basically instant kills in hardcore.. I think it's sorta silly. It's not more realistic--you just have less health--and you can get killed with smoke grenades.

And yes--it's more fun. Hardcore is for INSTANT TAKE DOWNS. Go ahead, shoot me in the leg with the M16. What? Only two of the shots of the burst hit me? Whateva, I'm still dead anyway. Hell, don't even bother aiming, it's not that important anymore.

I think hardcore would be better if it automatically put you into 'last stand' from a few leg shots... since a nice hollowpoint in the leg is going to stop you taking part in any 100 meter sprints... rather than instant death.

Oh and stop you spinning round in last stand... cos that's silly, you should have a limited field of movement, since your ass just got shot off.

And removed kill strike modifiers--UAV's aren't hardcore--And didn't let you take enough damage from a smoke grenade to kill you from full health, etc etc. Hardcore is not a terribly well thought out addition to the game.

This is the release of the v1.4 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare™ patch by Infinity Ward.

Changes

* "Winter Crash", a holiday version of Multiplayer map "Crash"
* Improvements to the server browser
* Fixed some rare bullet accuracy issues for all weapons.
* For server admins: fixed user ban list not working correctly on servers. Ban.txt will be created in the main or fs_game directory


Mod support:


* In the connect screen, Mods will be identified as"Mod: [mod name]"
* Only official IWD files will be read from the main directory. All custom IWD should be placed in a mod directory.
* Fix for reloading several times after connecting to a modded server

Yea I want a nighttime version of Crash now.. ya know.. without all the Christmas decorations. I'm not installing it yet, I need to wait until I figure out what the deal is with patching my server first. We have a match tomorrow and I'm not sure if the community is in a rush to update or not--and unfortunately I need to submit a ticket to support to upgrade our match server to 1.4. Hopefully everyone will stick with 1.3 until the end of the week just to make things easier.

A night version of all their maps shouldn't be hard to implement considering they said the lighting was dynamic and showed it in one of the pre-release videos.

Well, I upgraded, against my better judgment.

Wow--Winter Crash is ridiculous. All the lights and decorations are actually very distracting, and the lighting actually makes ranged combat a bit more difficult. All of the building interiors are lit too, which is a bit unsettling too. It's just an odd transition, from daytime to night. Maybe I don't actually want night maps after all. ;)

Still a nice little treat, and a fun/funny map variant. When someone drops an air strike, you hear sleigh bells, and Santa Claus going, "HO HO HO!"

lol, sounds fun. They should do something like this for the 360 version. I'm guessing that by the time MS approves it, we'll be in February, lol.

They updated the playlists in the 360 version. Its nice to be able to choose between Hardcore S&D and TDM. Before it was just random and annoying.

Yeah. I just doubt that they actually will. Would be sweet though. The problem would be matchmaking. Two versions of maps might be tricky to work into that.

It wouldn't be all that interesting anyway.. it's not like BF2: Special Forces where you were basically invisible in the night maps and night vision was required to see jack shit. Hell, barely anyone uses night vision on the PC version, even on Wet Works.. they just turn up their brightness a little to compensate. The map is pretty well lit, despite being at night.
