Having trouble wrapping my head around that one. The fact that we're dealing with M4's, M16's and AK's alone makes combat completely different. Never mind the improvements to movement and the newly found variety.
Call of Duty 2 is one of those guilty pleasures for me. It's surely not as good as BF2 or CS, but it's still fun and it can be sooo freaking punishing at times. Get on a rifles only server with a bunch of regulars, and you're in for the death streak of a lifetime.. which is what I just experienced. Enough of that for the night. Back to BF, or Dystopia or something.. which should be enough to hold me over for H3.. which in turn should be enough to hold me over for FFOW, UT3, and COD4.

I also think this game maybe more interesting than Halo 3 for a lot of people (including me)
Although I really like what Halo 3 is showing so far, I think COD4 will blow it out of the water!

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."

Some nice stuff at the TeamXbox site. The Overgrown map above has some nice atmospherics and shadows -- showing that MP isn't all washed out and muddy.

Well, I never played it in COD2. Now, that's still a mode from Counter Strike as far as I know that's the first game that came up with it. Whatever it is, it's not original by any means. And I guess it reminded me of CS because of the weapons.
I got the Beta today, and played for about an hour and a half. I enjoyed the hell out of it. It showed me what could have been done with COD2 multiplayer if IW hadn't been rushed to get COD2 out the door for launch of the 360... given 6 more months to balance multiplayer put in decent lobbies... This game doesn't feel like GRAW or RB6... it feels like a more polished COD2, with modern weapons, smooth framerate/smooth gameplay... it just feels right for not being a Ubi/Clancy shooter. Controls are a bit to get used to. Same as COD2, but I've been playing GR/RB too long for it to come that natural to me.
Graphics are pretty sweet. On par with Gears of War for details... I can't wait to see how good Single Player looks when it comes out. It is what most of you will expect... COD2 with newer weapons, the perk mechanic, polished and much better lobbies... I'm sure Halo 3 will put the LIVE/Lobbies functionality to shame, but the COD4 Beta lobbies are on par in function to Ubisoft's... If you loved COD2 and like the modern setting of GR, you should love COD4. I'm sure I'll find imperfections, what game doesn't have them, but right now I'm wowed by the newness, and the fact that I actually got into the beta of this fine game. Oh and for a Beta, you could have fooled me... no rough edges so to speak for me. A lot of games would be proud to have this at retail in current form with a few more maps...
Perks/Custom Class customizability didn't seem naturally intuitive... but hey, I only played the game for an hour and a half... and no manual.
I didn't have time to mess with the perks, and went with the default classes. So far I'm leveling up pretty quickly, obviously not due to any skill, although I do OK some rounds. Search and destroy is my favorite gametype. 1 life per round, offense/defense strats. One team has to plant a bomb, the other has to defend. The biggest these matches can get (At least in the Beta) is 4v4 I think... might only be 3v3.
Other great thing about this being a hard to get into Beta (at least for now) is that everyone who plays is a mature (for the most part) good all around gamer. I was in lobbies/teams with complete strangers, and we all used teamwork in each round. I'm really excited to play some more, and delve into the perks, weapon enhancements etc.
This Beta, has met my lofty expectations... so far, and I don't see it changing. Also it seemed we didn't have a host at all, but servers? Is that right? I also experienced zero lag, but heard of lag from a few other people, on occasion. Last Stand perk was a big culprit of me dying many times in the game... great perk. The one that did me in more times/more noticeably than any other perk.
COD4 Beta has got my undivided attention for a while it would seem. I'm hoping the flood on Monday of Beta codes doesn't ruin the experience with a bunch of 10 year olds mouthing off in the game.
After 2-3 more hours playing...
More thoughts on the beta...
It gets a more wide open release tommorow on Monday at 3pm Eastern... so if you are online or near a computer at 3 tommorow I'd highly recommend you get on http://www.charlieoscardelta.com/indexnew.php
and sign up to get into the beta... first come, first serve they say. I think there are about 12-15,000 in the Beta right now... just a guess... it gives you numbers in the game, that might be the number that are on at that time I'm not sure, but they are saying that the number that currently are on are a fraction of the number that will be on in this next week.
I'm still loving this game, after playing a couple more hours last night, I have maxed out the top level in the Beta. They capped the Beta level at 11, intending to incrementally raising it over the Beta's time in the wild.
Last stand sucks to be killed by... is so sweet to use. I picked that perk last night and sometimes could get 2 kills after getting gunned down. If you get mortally wouunded... fall to the ground, and are about to die, you pull out your pistol and if the enemy isn't paying attention or doesn't finish you off you can shoot/ maybe kill them. If there are a few enemies in your immediate vicinity you can get multiple kills.
The objective oriented gametypes are my personal favorites. Search and Destroy you only get one life per round... & this is the most OS type of gametype in the beta. the host in the Beta has next to none options for setting up the matches... I'm confident this will be different in the retail, I'm going to research this.
My biggest complaint is there is no lean & peak. Lean & peak wasn't part of the COD2/3 game mechanic and is absent here and I'm sure will not make it into the game. This game if ever it had a chance of being perfect, just got dinged by me for not having lean & peak. The lack of host options has me a bit cocerned... this is only the Beta, so they are disabling a lot of things. The lobby as I envision it for retail will get a 7/10, and I'd give Ubisoft's GRAW an 8 out of 10. So COD4 is lacking, but much much improved over COD2... and it gets a bonus for having a party system. the party system is in the beta, but I have yet to find anyone to "party" with. sad.gif
Most online/public rooms have been pretty cool. Some have been spectacular with mature, good communication skills on the mike, etc. Middle of the day yesterday it sucked... little kids and loud mouth teenagers singing and goofing off... expected.
Halo3 will smash COD4 in the online features/lobby options. COD4 isn't going to win any awards for lobby/LIVE... but at least they shored up the glaring lack of features from COD2. Its solid and it works.
Game looks wonderful... on par online with Gears of War. Single player should be one of the best 360 titles thus far.
3 maps in the Beta... I have yet to get tired of them... but would like another map before the Beta ends. Night time map would be killer to see the night vision. In a couple of dark areas on the current maps, I've used it and it is the best night vision I've seen in an Xbox shooter, it looks like how you'd imagine it to be.
Game just feels right, gameplay rocks, perks are a very cool addition to the game. Balance feels good to me thus far. Game looks good, plays as smooth as butter. No lean and peak... kind of bums me out. Maybe if you didn't miss it in COD2 you won't miss it here. But after playing the Clancy games so much I miss it.

YOU WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF, and we will make sure that everyone has an equal chance to get into the beta REGARDLESS of depending on the the site.
So here's the current plan. We are cracking whips and making sure the site gets back up and running. We're going to do away with the first come, first serve and are going to have open registration for 24 hours.
So whether you're able to get on the site within the hour, or log on at midnight tonight, you can sign-up and have an equal chance at a token.
We will then take that massive database of sign-ups over the next 24 hours, and distribute all available tokens to the members who sign-up.
all about Crisis Core
If you read fourzerotwo's update, he sounds pretty pissed--and he should be--this is damaging their image in the community. But I must say, they should have never taken the word of their webhost. They should have planned on this response from the start last week.
The way the internet reacted when the website reported that all the keys were gone (and apparently, none were actually distributed) was a little ridiculous though. Overreactionton. It could have been much worse though, and if they live up to their word, I forgive them. Beta tokens heal all wounds.
Funny story.. A friend of mine participated in this mess today.. and it turns out that he's had a beta key sitting in his inbox since Thursday. I want to fucking kill him. He's online playing right now. He better sharpen those skills because I'm coming for him as soon as I get my token.
Looks like they are opening it up to everyone who has signed up on chareliedeltaecho.com prior to today.
This is the site I used to get into the beta. I read about it last week when the cod servers crashed during the inital beta, and emailed this guy directly... and luckily got in.

Madness? This is BETA!!!
*warning* Bold words and profanity from this point on. Loose Lips Sink Ships.
QUICK-UPDATE:
First: I'm as pissed as you guys.
Second: Here's the low down.
As the many of you who have stayed home from work, school, and neglected loved onces can attest to, CharlieOscarDelta.com has officially died. Today. Again. On Beta sign-up day. While we're all waiting for the countdown timer to hit zero.
We were assured relentlessly time and time again by the company who runs and maintains Charlieoscardelta.com for us that they have adequately prepared the servers for this massive Beta roll-out.
That was fucking bullshit.
I'm not going to lie, I'm fucking mad as hell.
Fuck this first come first serve registration, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE COMMUNITY.
NO MORE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We will be taking care of the guys who've spent the last 6 months on the site, reading all of our updates, participating in our forums, and staying home all day today refreshing the site to get a token.
YOU WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF, and we will make sure that everyone has an equal chance to get into the beta REGARDLESS of depending on the the site.

We're doing everything we can to make sure this site crash does not effect your chances for Beta glory.
So keep the comments, emails, and calls coming guys, it's just fueling our fight to make sure you guys are taken care of.
CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR UPDATES, as I'll keep you guys FULLY in the loop.

Now I am not a fan of modern games, but this is just one of those games that I can't help not check more than 1 time.
I owned Battlefield Modern Combat way long time ago and I loved it, but COD4 just beats the shit out of it.
Anyways, I don't know on what platform to get it, considering that 360 you gotta pay for the online while Ps3 you don't, mean while the 360 controller is made for console shooters while PS3 isnt.
One thing that I do REALLY like about it is...modifcations!
Like you can add so much stuff on your weapon that it feels like you customize after your playing style.
Another thing is this status and leveling stuff.
The more kills the more points, and the more points, the higher level and attributes you get.
Like reloading faster, less recoil (which I get back to), more firepower, double tap on the bullets for more chance to hit them, the shooting through the wall...etc.
About the recoil...where is it?
I know that Counter-Strike and pretty much alot of the FPS has recoil for spraying as hell, but the videos I have seen I haven't seen any recoil on the weapons, kind of makes it easier.
Another thing is the damn sprint and iron sight.
I love sprint moves in FPS after they made it on Crysis and I watched it and loved it I wanted all FPS to have it. And the iron sight, well it adds to realistoc aiming.
One thing that I do want to ask is...character customization.
I wonder if you can go by country, class or anything?
I do know that you can choose any camo you like, but what about the gear, outfit you have on you, kind of sets you apart from the rest of the soliders on the game.
I have seen footages were there are different type of character models in the online mode, and I doubt you choose class considering you can create your own.
But other than that it looks pretty great.
Ps And the music sounds great in the background like this one
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23992.html?type...
I wonder who the composer is, very hollywoodish style to it.
Playing: ???
PS3: Heavenly Sword - Lair - Dark Sector - Killzone 2 - MGS4 - Uncharted - Haze - God of War 3
360: Mass Effect - Assassin's Creed - Ninja Gaiden 2 - DMC4 - Too Human - Fable 2 - Resident Evil 5
My sister is the one who is in FPS alot, so she is the one buying it the game :P
But its still undecided if I will get COD4 or not, but I will show the best gameplay videos to my sister from the online modes to see what she thinks.
But the "I" is basically "my sister", hopefully that didn't confuse people...sorry if it did.
