Crytek is based in Frankfurt, isn't it? They could place the action there, the city's pretty badass (I was there 3 days only though). They could pack soooo many details and love since it's their city, NYC is indeed too overused.

I hate the fact its in NYC, that was my first complaint.
I dont understand why they didnt pick somewhere in Europe :(

But it's my favorite place in the world, and I always think it's fun seeing how accurate (or inaccurate) the setting really is in a game. It's far from my biggest complaint. The "streamlined" (lol) suit powers are a far bigger deal than the city.

It's understable and would be fun for me as well if cities I lived in were portrayed in. Hmmm, the more I think about my earlier idea of Frankfurt being in a game the more I like it, it's the closest Europe has to NYC lol (city view, Central European Bank, Federal German Bank, stock exchange)

Killzone 2 (and Killzone 3) got away with this, Crysis 2 is going up on the list LOL

So beautiful!

I know the PC version will be superior in every way so lets put that aside.
I just hope the console versions will look and perform great for their standards of what we have seen.

On 360 we see games like Gears of War 2 looking great, and Gears 3 look even slightly better.
On PS3 we see Killzone 2 then gets improved for Killzone 3 same goes to Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 3, amazing looking games, you would expect Crysis 2 to be on par with these games on the consoles.

I read that Crytek is developing the game seperatly on each platform so no ports.
Just hoping for the best!

I prefer Rage to this game, but it dose look great, if i get the great vista's Gears2 gave me i'll be happy.

I don't find Killzone 2 or Gears that great looking, because they just lower the colour palette and desaturate the hell out of the environment, so LOD is better. I can see the limits with those games. Crysis goes for all colours, it's based on the real world.

That's why I find this level of graphics more impressive.

It's crazy how great looking Crysis still is, when you consider it's not exactly new. The first game can look that good.

Killzone gets off on visual effects and animation, which are top shelf stuff. It clearly suffers in other areas, but it gets away with it and still looks fantastic.

Not that PR shots like that aren't doctored anyway :)

Yes me too, but this looks way too good to be true, I guess those are obviously PC shoots.

Yeah, they got suit modules, hoefully the whole perks and killstreaks arent overwhelming.
COD4 style would be nice, simple and balanced and not too many.

Considering there is only about 4000 people on Medal of Honor just now I doubt the numbers are going to be very high for Crysis 2. I will still try the demo but I don't expect to be impressed at all. I want the game on PC for the single player.

Me too. The MP is going to flop big time. That said, 4000 people is a workable population for anyone who actually wants a second rate MP game :P

Last week, things were switched around a bit as I spent time with Crysis 2's multiplayer on the Xbox 360, and I was struck by two things: how great it looked, and how not so great it played.


Thankfully, it looks like most of the graphical issues we saw at Gamescom last year and last year's multiplayer beta on 360 last year have been worked out, as Crysis 2 is clearly in the running for best looking console game out there. It's the atmosphere and lighting that really impresses. Levels are huge with a ton of routes and traversal options, and the constant shifts between darkness and daylight in Skyline, the level included in this week's demo, in particular are striking.
sounds great, hope the controls get tightened up.
