Glad I can be the one to make this (albeit it's kinda old news). One of my favorite all time games this generation gets a sequel in what sounds quite epic I must say. Including MP, new weaps (more impaling), you are in a city/settlement instead of mainly a ship (Alien to Aliens anyone?), etc. Plus you are probably battling your sanity considering the end of the original.

Interesting note on his new suit in this game:
Control Wings: With the increased presence of zero-G combat in Dead Space 2, jumping from point to point won’t cut it anymore. These wings extend and assist Isaac with navigating in a weightless environment.

On a sidenote: No one better steal the image of his new armor for their user avatar. I want it, and am going to make it when I return to my comp :p.

Haven't been this excited for a game in a really really long time.

First game was totally awesome. It sounds like they are making an effort to keep the tense atmosphere but scare you in new ways.

Yeah, the first was a great game. It's not particularly.. interesting really.. I guess.. the story is kinda standard alien fare, but the mechanics really come together in a brilliant way and it's just a terrific.. GAME.

Easily one of my most anticipated games. The first was my GOTY for 2008, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting some more. The new suit looks awesome, and I'm liking what I'm hearing regarding gameplay additions and tweaks.

You know what I love it and I hope they make some more uses in the sequel,"Telekinesis" I just loved how I was able to make some awesome things with it.

Oh and the Zero G gameplay was just espectacular combined that with some Vaccum OMG!!!

The first time I steped outside of the ship in that Vaccum with all the stuff flying and the subtle sound of your steps and breathing was one of my most memorables gameplay moments of that year,so amazing.

I bought some DLC too,the Tank Suit and the Heavy Damage Weapon pack

Yeah, so much of Dead Space is straight out of Doom 3, like the planetwalk stuff and the attached sound effects, but the way the rest of the game can actually maintain and live up to its bouts of atmospheric awesomeness ultimately not only justifies its sometimes blatant thefts, but actually does them more justice.

doom 3's vacuum of space sounds where nowhere near as well done as dead space. you heard the guy breathing and that was about as far it went. dead space actually felt like the only things you could hear where the vibrations that managed to penetrate the suit you wore, whether it be your feet smashing against a metal surface, or the weapon firing in your hand.

doom 3 just felt like the rest of the game, only you had to run around looking for air canisters.

2008 game in doing things better than 4 years older game shocker.

The influences from Doom 3 in Dead Space are plentiful, abundantly obvious, and fully justified. I think that's the jist of what I was saying.

dont see it, dead space made a big deal out of their zero gravity sections. to a point where it felt completly different when you reached said sections. doom 3, as i said, was just doom 3, but with a breathing sound effect layered over the top. dead space has far more in common with resi 4 then it did doom 3 imo. the only similarity with the feel and look of doom 3 is the fact it's a very industrial looking space station. bayond that, they really couldnt be any more different in my eyes.

i absolutely hate the new suit design, but i certainly appreciate what it alows you to do in the new game. it looks like dead space 2 is taking a leaf out of uncharted's book and going for an incredibly well paced action game. i'll be sad to see the horror side take a back seat like they've mentioned a few times now, but if it produces something along the lines of uncharted 2 in space...then i'll be happy as hell.

Dead Space 1 is a proper videogamey videogame though with proper puzzles, proper ammo conserving, proper path plotting and proper game mechanics in the upgrade system and the way different enemies behave and have to be taken down. I don't just want them to gloss all of that over to make it a streamlined "ride" like Uncharted 2.

I mean a pivotal thing with Dead Space's scripted "aaah!" moments is that there's real peril, real urgency. It's not like you can let that worm grab you and just drop the controller and he'll be like "aaah!" and dragged around perpetually until you do something.

It's a real threat to the appeal of Dead Space if they turn it into Uncharted 2 I think. Nate is a great character and his world is appealing in itself, but Dead Space was good because it was a surprisingly great - surprisingly traditional - game. Its world isn't really one you can just travel through and be content.
