I'm assuming we won't see Weather and night races till next game.

I have doubts we'll see a pit crew till next gen. Not because it isn't fully possible, but because I don't think they'll ever make it a priority right now.

Thats okay you can get that experience in GT5 so now you have a reason to buy both and be happy!

And the 30fps in cockpit view... I told you optimus! Scoobs 10 - Optimus 2.. the battle continues :) Just playin.. message on BB tonight if u want I'm bored at work.

I'll buy GT regardless, that was never in doubt, but in no way is a pit, weather or night races major selling points for me in any racing title :)

If I'd have to put an emphasis on which I want more, it would be weather simply for reasons such visual diversity and because it having an effect on control of the vehicles is always a gameplay plus in my eyes for people that want that experience.

Yea, you were definitely right about the cockpit view, but then I only disagreed at the time because I didn't see the claim coming from more credible sources, but blim and crew are about as credible as they come so naturally once it came from then, it was confirmed.

Where exactly did you hear that that FM2 was 30fps haha.

We've talked about fm2 multiple times so it isn't like you didn't know full well that the game ran at 60fps so was that just a clever attempt at a troll or what? :P

Ok guys so David (who told me about weather, night races, pitstops... on Xboxygen ) is now back at home and updated the news. By no pitstop he meant no "realistic" pitstops, there will be no animations, like forza2.

skip to 6:30 and then watch from there. The actual sim racers come on at around 8:23 or something like that. Awesome footage of the game with good driving.

Everyone has to check out this youtube vid. What seems like obviously hardcore sim racers that definitely know what they're doing and pretty much come away blown away by the game. They constantly kept re-iterating how they couldn't believe they were playing a console sim and not a PC sim with how great the physics were. I've never tried out the PC sims like some of the guys on here, well not to the extent that some of the guys on here have, but I think the mere comparison alone will be pleasing.

I was already hyped, but seeing this makes the wait even harder.

Very nice. Offscreen some of the places on the track (on the straights) look very realistic. They really improved on the trees. They look a lot more lifelike this time (i think they looked obscure in FM2).

Anyway can't wait to see more tracks.

Greenawalt is absolutely incredible at selling people on his game.

I'm not a big car junkie, but listening to him talk about the game the way he does is pretty awesome.

The way he mentions how 60fps is so absolutely crucial to properly experience the impressiveness of the physics system, I hope that is an indication that they plan to have the cockpit at 60 as well come release.

Damn the game looks so great visually. They've done wonders with the environments in this game compared to Forza 2. As someone else pointed out, the trees are now much better done.

The problem is you are still penalised for using the assists, some people just arent that good at sim racing and theyre the oens you want to coax through the game, not punish them because they arent good enough. This was a lesson i had hoped they learnt with the last game, and with the way they have been talking about the credit penalties im less and less likely to stump up the cash now, regardless how amazing the game looks.

This guy is all marketing, that presentation could have been 3 minutes of straight up info, but good anyways.

Also, that video of Le-Mans looks awesome. The trees--the environments--look really amazing. Lots of detail, no excessive use of X-shapped trees right at the edge of the track like Gran Turismo has been doing thus far.

EDIT: I dislike the fact that he makes a big deal out of the driving line, as if they came out with it. The first game I remember having that was Ferrar 355 for Dreamcast/Arcade. I guess they were the ones who made a slightly better implementation, on a more complete game, and so we now see it so often.

Hehe I definitely won't be using the assists though, even if i get my behind handed to me. I always go for the toughest possible challenge in games I play EXCEPT Ninja Gaiden 2. Screw that, game is hard enough already lol.

Hence why I play NBA 2K9 on All-Star and unless I'm 100% focused without slagging off for even a bit, the game completely gets away from me and I just can't come back.

My season record right now is 2-11 and I'm totally proud of it :P

You are NOT penalized for using assists, you are REWARDED for not using them. And yes, that is a big difference. You can perfectly go through the game with all assists and you'll be fine. You might have less money than I, a few less cars, but nothing major.

Yeah, the trees look pretty amazing. The colors look accurate, and it looks like every yard of the track has a new group of trees, or at least it gives off that illusion. The trees sport accurate looking shadows too.

the tracks really do look great, the cars? not quite as impressive imo. about par for the course...GT's car models look a damn sight more realistic (dunno if it's poly count, textures, shaders, lighting?) if only there was a game that could have the cars of GT 5 and the tracks of forza 3...

PGR was the same for me as well, tracks looked amazing, cars looked like toy cars. i dont think to myself "that looked realistic" when i see forza 3, i just think " that looks nice"...GT on the other hand....well, that can look damn near photorealisitc a lot of the time.

i'd love to see how GT looks like now tho, how it has improved since prologue, people are saying the E3 trailer was in-engine? i'd be surprised if it was tbh. looked a bit too good to be true.

i'd never buy either game tho, but you gotta appreciate what they're doing graphically,

And being stuck in some pile of crap cause i cant afford anything useful for 300 laps of some crap circuit is not an entertaining way to spend time. Forza 2 became an absolute chore to try and progress through and i ended up just leaving it. Even a couple of friends, one of which is mad about cars got fed up and tossed it. GT, for all it does wrong, at least it keeps those of us that arent as good at racing games entertained. Whether thats with the assists, the amount you earn, the cost of cars etc. You arent done up the arse for using the auto driver, what difference does it make to the makers if i spend 300 hours doing the same tracks over and over earning crap all cause the autopilot takes it all or have half an hour of fun doin a couple of laps on me own.
Im exaggerating a bit, but thats what F2 felt like, it was painful to play after a while, i wanna do a couple of laps and feel that i have achieved something.
