Real cars aren't always completely reflective depending on where the sun is and at what angle you're viewing them. For some reason Forza 2's cars were ALWAYS reflecting something.
Eh? Real cars are ALWAYS reflecting something no matter what the angle is unless the car is painted matte. I shouldn't have to post pictures of real cars but I will anyway.

Even in direct sunlight...

http://rawautos.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/fer...

Look at the front corner, of that RX7 then the lower side of both cars you posted, there are no reflections at all. Forza 2 reflects the tarmac in detail like it would be reflected in real life. Whether or not it looks realistic is a different story but i think its safe to say Forza 2 has the more detailed reflections.

WRONG! Have you ever played Forza 2? Not every car reflects the environment like these pictures, but there are definitly cars that reflects the environment in this way. And this has nothing to do with sun oder hdr, but car paint.
WRONG! Reflections have every bit to do with the sun as with the material. Forza 2 just doesn't capture that effect. Areas on the car where the sun is hitting will have stronger and more apparent reflections. Regardless Forza 2's reflections are overly done, and yes, I've played it and no matter at what angle the cars still heavily reflect the environment no matter where the sun located. Talk about unrealistic lighting and reflections.

The more sun in addition to what angle, the more reflections you'll see.

Read my other post, it says real cars aren't always "completely" reflective. There's always going to be reflections in certain areas but they won't always reflect like they do in Forza 2.

In comparison to the RX7 GT pic, look at the front corner of this ferrari.

Certainly, you need light to get something reflected. Without light, everything would be dark. This is as logical as it's a platitude. But the _details_and_resolution_ of reflection depends on car paint/surface and not sun/hdr.

Are we talking about real life here or Forza 2? Because the "resolution" or "detail" of a reflection does not depend on car paint alone as you put it... Hell, HDR isn't even a real world thing and I don't think I've mentioned it when talking about reflections...

vspectra, both pics aren't a good example. The first has obviously diffused light sources all around it to illuminate it. The second is over exposed/saturated.

Real life cars always reflect everything unless the paint is matte or dirty. It's functioning like a mirror and you wouldn't doubt that a mirror doesn't reflect on certain angles. It just doesn't make sense.

Whatever we are talking, fact is that _no_ car in GT5P provides reflections that comes close to them of Forza 2.

HDR means High Dynamic Range and the effect HDR represents its definitly a real world effect.

Here is probably the best example of the reflection difference between GT5p and Forza 2

Lol Gt5 still looks like it could be a photo where as Forza3 looks completely like an over saturated CG render.
By the way WHERE IS THE DRIVER
Shall we start comparing pics from GT5P photomode, aleast go replay mode for comparing pics which even that is sort of a lie compared to complete in game on both games.

Hmmm... good point! Cheating all over the place in both game, I think we should stick to comparing actual Gameplay pics when we get them :)

I think they'll add a driver, they had it in 2, very little reason why it wont be in 3 especially as you can see his hands during the in car view.

at that comparison shot Lebato posted...what's the graphics opinion on this? I've not paid attention but that's quite dramatic to me...
I still can't understand how some people got to the point of praising Forza 2 for its car models, and even say they were better than PGR4. Complete nonsense. As for the install, I don't think it's that big of a deal either, but it IS a negative. This will be taking space out of hard drive lacking space already.

By the way people, you have to stop posting pics of Forza 2 or else I am going to vomit. I said it since it came out, Forza had some horrible car models, horrible lighting, and whatnot.

Hahaha, that comment actually made me laugh out loud.

Forza 2 wasnt a bad looking game, it looked great at times and avg at others. Its biggest down fall was on the colour palette and dodgy AA.

I was playing the game yesterday and it looks Miles better in game running than it does in these screen shots.

Lets not forget, the game is 2 yrs old and was produced in the extremely early days of the 360

There's obviously drivers in the cars, any racing game without them would look ridiculous.

Now, videos from gaf.

This one shows SUVs (meh, WTF?--Turn10 just keeps contradicting themselves)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxu8j-ZRz54

This one shows the car flipping, keeping with objectivity here, it looks a bit dull to say the least. Other than Rally games, it seems like a realistic roll is out of the question. The rolls also look clunky in PC simulations. But it's not a common situation though, and the fact that it happens at all is GREAT!

No. It looked average and horrible at times (the framerate even dips in replays--can't believe it). Its biggest downfall was what other games had already done and looked like around the same time (DIRT, PGR3, PGR4). But again, let's not talk about the graphics in FM2 otherwise I'll vomit.

It's not nescessarily rolling alone that is the fun bit, its the fact the car is no longer glued to the road and the physics suddenly change when the car reaches a certain angle away from the track. I've crashed in so many ways before just to mess about and it was always unsatisfying to see the physics change and the car come back down to earth.

There's rumors that FM is doing NASCAR as well, such an awful thing if true.

Does anyone notice the lack of any pit crew once again? I think it adds a lot to the feeling of a race, having a pit crew working on the cars, etc. So if it isn't there once again, it's a shame.

Also from the damage shown in the forza vids, it looks like your bumpers no longer come off, and the dents and deformations look pretty limited and not as drastic as Forza 2.

lol! The overall polys of a PGR4 car might be higher than of Forza 2, because of the interiors, but car bodys looks definitly more real/detailed. Also lighting/reflections are better. PGR4 reflections are really bad, beause they are not distorted by the cars surface. Instead it's just a simple overlay that looks like a movie or somthing.
