BBC News (in the uk) just ran a segment about halo 3. They then cut to supposed footage of the game....KILLZONE 2!

Was a proper laugh out loud moment for my bro and myself. Nearly as good as the halo 3 demo being played on the ps3 pod.

They gave it an 8.9... a bit lower than I would have.

I've played it (singleplayer only campaign) and so far its good... 10/10 not even. But its better than 8.9. The review from IGN AU brings up a lot of good points.
I'm still more hyped about COD4.

Big Halo fans have a BIG winner on their hands though... but so far after a few hours in single player Halo3 won't be on my personal "Game of the Year" list.
But it definitely defines AAA title in all its features and polish.

Oh and I'll be really interested to see how many 360 units sell this month with Halo3 coming out. I wonder how many people were holding out on getting a 360, just waiting for Halo.

In even more Halo 3 related news, initial sales for Master Chief’s latest incarnation are coming in, and the Xbox 360 exclusive title has sold through 1.8 million copies during the first 8 hours of release. The break down is 1.5 million sold through pre-orders, with an additional 300,000 copies sold without pre-order.Estimations predict that a total of 950,000 units will be sold within the first 24 hours, bringing the grand total to 2.45 million. Microsoft has released the game in three SKUs ranging in price from 59.99 to 129.99, and the that the average sale price of the title is currently at $78.00. This means that, Microsoft has already made an estimated 140.4 million dollars and is expected to cash-in on 191.1 million dollars before the end of the day. This would put Halo 3 at the top of the list for any form of entertainment’s top “one day sales”.

For comparison, Halo 2 did 2.38M and $125M on Day 1 NA sales. I predicted 2.5M for Halo 3 first day sales and about 5M for 2007 sales (over at B3D).

Also, my Wal*mart is out of 360s and has Wiis in. A first!

And like I said, on Sunday IGN AU had a 9.5 written on their site in the lower score section (right under their 8 for graphics which we discussed earlier somewhere on the forums). I know IGN proper gave them a 9.5, but yesterday AU read 9.5 as well (not just on the side, but at the bottom as well) and now it has changed. Typo I am sure, but still interesting.

Clearly Japan has seen the error of its ways, abandoned Wii and started importing 360's for the true American feel.

Based purely on campaign mode, I think that's a fair score.. but when you consider the entire package, it's easily a 9+ game. You're sure right about one thing though, it aint no 10/10.

It's nice to finally "finish the fight", but the dramatic impact of the campaign is extremely overstated -- as is the games scope and scale. What's understated are: invisible walls, co-op that keeps all players in a tight radius, and an extremely linear world (which people have bitched endlessly about in other games by comparison). I was a little disappointed that the opening movie felt like the most dramatic and cinematic part of the game.

But it all comes together in a way that's still pretty damn appealing. And the presentation value is through the roof. Even the loading screen is beautiful.

Based purely on campaign mode, I think that's a fair score.. but when you consider the entire package, it's easily a 9+ game.  You're sure right about one thing though, it aint no 10/10.

Today, me and couple friends played through Halo 3 on legendary. It's a good thing I didn't play co-op initially. My slow connection made it so that everything would lag up for me. Making legendary that much more difficult. The cutscene audio and video didn't quite sync. I would've been missing out.

The two guys I was playing with weren't the best players either. My score dwarfed both of theirs combined during the missions we played. But it was their first play through. During The Ark chapter, where you're pitted up against two scarabs, brutes, tanks, choppers, etc the works, I would snipe the scarabs from afar with a Scorpion. Normally I'd take a Hornet, and blast their legs to bits, but they had gotten excited and crashed both of them..Unfortunately, they were BRUTE RAPED by the guys on board. Leaving me to trudge over and take them out. They did save my ass by running away during the High Charity/Gravemind encounter, allowing me to respawn. "All we could do, is wait for Phaethon!" :P BELIEVE SOME MORE!

Had a go at match making tonight. And you're right Deft.. you do seem to unlock your gear through single player. Guess I should have ya know, checked to see if I unlocked anything after finishing the campaign mode.

Match making is about what I expected it to be.. almost. I was a little surprised that BLB (Big Lag Battle) was missing from ranked match-making, but then I remembered how well that worked with 12 players in the beta. I think it's for the best, until they can manage to have a really solid hold on 16 player match making.

I was a little disappointed by the content that kept coming up too, but that's just a matter of bad luck I guess. After playing the beta so much, I was a little bummed out when the majority of games I played this evening were on the beta maps.. but I guess that's only fair to keep them in high rotation.

I'm not sure if I have a new favorite yet, I think it's probably a bit too early for that. I really love Last Resort though. It's great to get back to Zanzibar.. I don't think they should have removed the energy sword from the center of the map though. The idea that the campaign has significantly better visuals than MP can now be put to rest -- MP looks grand.

Oh, and ONE little complaint: Vehicle variety. There are maps (especially in BTB) where hornets and scorpions could both easily come into play.. but the default vehicle positions for every map seem to forget these things exist. And no transport hog? Guess that's reasonable, since we couldn't even sit player characters in the back of the transport hog in campaign.

Oh and Phaethon, you lied to me. Seats seven? What were you looking at?

EDIT: And tomorrow will bring time to finally play with Forge, and Saved films.

Big team battle in Social playlists has been pretty good for me with Lag. I've only had one bad game and I think that guy was doing something to his connection as it was terrible for everyone.

I like Construct a lot more than I did on my first run round. Not a fan of Isolation.

Big team battle in Social playlists has been pretty good for me with Lag. I've only had one bad game and I think that guy was doing something to his connection as it was terrible for everyone.

The most common issue I've had regarding lag so far has been with voice communication.. which is a big deal, but it's manageable and there's always hope for that improving. I seem to recall having simular issues with the beta as well.. and even with people who I've had very little to no issues with lag what-so-ever in other games.

Oh, and co-op has some stability issues. When it works it's wonderful, but when it lags.. it lags right down to the playback of cutscenes, which is a damn shame. While on the subject of co-op -- it's also a bit disappointing that you can't spread your party out more in the environment. We had a few instances where someone would be off searching for a skull and get warped to the closest player to the closest checkpoint. It's a bit disorienting, even if it is necessary.

Has anyone heard of this problem before? I went to load up my solo game a few minutes ago, and after the loading screen and the bit of black that follows, it showed MC with his shields going down in a bluish area and there was text on screen that said something about being unable to spawn because the area isn't safe. Then it boots me out to the main menu after about 2 seconds. Wtf? Even if I just go to Campaign(instead of resume solo game) it does it. Any suggestions?

WTF is wrong with the audio FX in this game, I can barely hear my own grenades and gunfire and lets not talk about when driving veichles :(... Anyone else experienced this. Very annoying to say the least!
